Guest guest
, welcome to our group. Maybe we can help you. I think so. If you know how to do a search from the groups home page, look up posts by Girlie or Kim. Your post sounds almost exactly like hers from the past 6 months. Try to get your dr. to do a thyroid antibodies test. I think you will find you have Hashi's type autoimmune thyroiditis. The tests come back normal but the symptoms are present. Exaclty what you are describing. Don't give up, keep trying. Many of us have been where you are and are gradually feeling better. The synthroid may or may not help in the short while but if your dr. will keep working with you, you can find a help. The synthroid seems to be where they all start. Guest guest
Hello , I have only been on this list for the past couple of weeks, and have found people here to be very supportive. I am sort of in the same position you are--finally diagnosed with FMS and CFS 12 years ago or so (I'm not good with numbers:-)) and had been getting progressively worse to the point of thinking about dying too. However, it was a friend who sent me an article about FMS and CFS actually being hypoT. Since the new Dr. at our clinic wouldn't test me for thyroid, I got some levothyroxin and started taking it on my own. I have just finished my 5th week on 100 mcg. T4, and am having flashes of feeling better at times, as well as some loosening of my back/spine muscles. I can feel some of my muscles and ligaments starting to loosen-- especially the big clenched muscles over top of my knees. I have had no chest pains since I started the T4, and no negative side-effects. But I am learning to accept the little flashes of feeling better at times during the day, as a gift. It doesn't seem to get better quickly, so give it time, and keep thinking positively. That's my tip. I also ran off copies of some of the literature from some of the websites people here have sent, read them, and keep a file of the best ones. There's lots of knowledge out there, and we are ultimately responsible for our own health, so it's important for us to find out as much as possible. I was 21 when it started bad " BAD " . I gained 90lbs in 9 1/2months out of the blue.. And the I have had a dizzy spell for prettymuch 5 years NON stop.. Some days are way harder than others.AND the past 5 days have been so bad.. I have been so sick, weak anddizzy OMG. I was put on synthroid last week and so far I still feellike I am dying.. OR like I just want to die.. This gets so bad and Ihave no one who understands, All my friends & family think I am overreacting, But all I can say is I WISH... I hope you all don't mind me writing here about my problems but Ihave no one else to really turn to... Does anyone ANYONE understandwhat I am going through?? I have had my blood tested for EVERYTHING..I have had cat scans MRI's X-rays and they could never find anythingelse wrong with me.. Than after 5 years of not being able to findanything they do another blood test for my thyroid and it comes backnormal???Last week they tried the same test again and they said the numberswere kinda high and they were positive I have hypothyroidism.. Itshard to belive they may have found a name besides FM and CFS thatcould be making me so ill..So now they are going to try to treat this.. And they said to havehope I can feel better! I guess after all this typing what I amtrying to ask is if???.... Can I REALLY feel better? Can I hope forthat much?? Is it possible???? Again I am so sorry for my rambling Ijust need to know if other people out there understand?? If I canhave hope?? Guest guest
hi diana and welcome! sorry this will be such a short post...i only have a few minutes...have to work this morning. sorry for all you've been through, but please know there certainly is hope! before i was diagnosed i felt like i was dying too...i really did. It ususally takes at least 6 weeks before you will notice an improvement in your symptoms, so hang in there. i have a friend in another group who also has FM (I'm not sure about the CFS). a year ago she was barely able to get through the day. she was having to take naps at work in order to function. she had very little energy and was in a lot of pain. She was either taking Levoxyl or synthroid...can't remember but was still having symptoms. Sometimes this happens. Some people do well on synthroid. Others feel a little relief but still have symptoms. Anyway, when she switched her thyroid medication to Armour, she became like a different person. She didn't need to nap at work...took a walk instead...and didn't have so much fatigue and pain. I am going great 1 1/2 years after being diagnosed. It took some time and i had to made changes in my medication, but I feel great overall...not perfect, but great! anyway, don't be sorry for " rambling. " I do that all the time. This is a place where you can talk about what's going on. Say what you need to say and get it off your chest. Ask your questions and we'll help you as much as we can. sorry this is so short, but I gotta get going. Hang in! Hugs, sheila <dianahottie@...> wrote: Hello I am very happy to be here, My name is and I am 26, I wastold last week all my sickness and feeling week and so tired I couldnot keep my head up and I just thought I was going to die.. Guest guest
Hi ! Your story sounds a lot like mine, I started feeling sick at 19, was diagnosed with FM and told there was nothing wrong with my thyroid (except I kept pursuing treatment, going to doctors asking about the thyroid specifically), got treated at 24 only, in 2000. Have they started you on thyroid meds?
