Hi ...sorry...don't have much time to post much of a reply. kemal and I

have both have doc appts. anyway here's some info for you Re: T3 and studies

from the New England Journal of Medicine and some other stuff.

This first one you can mention to your doc. if he wants more info, he can look

it up so you don't have to pay for the full article. There's a link on this site

to the abstract. this one is favorable for T3

http://www.thyroid-info.com/articles/t3drugsnejm.htm

Here's some info about T3 from Dr. Lowe.

http://www.drlowe.com/QandA/askdrlowe/t3.htm

This next one has a not so favorable study regarding T3. There are SO many

articles if you keep scrolling down. Read them and see what many docs have to

say in response to this study which was not so favorable.

http://thyroid.about.com/cs/t3controversy/

Here's another great article from Dr.Lowe:

http://www.drlowe.com/jcl/comentry/t3dangerous.htm

Here's a listing of some scientific references...lots of stuff here:

http://thyroid.about.com/cs/publicawareness/l/bl_t3refs.htm

I believe Gail's site has some references to T3...

http://personal.lig.bellsouth.net/w/u/wurmstei/

This one also has a link re: T3 supplementation (besides TONS of great info

regarding Armour)

http://www.thyroid.bravepages.com/dt.html

This next one is about a dr. who changed his mind about T3:

Hopefully you'll be able to try the Armour from that one endo you're seeing.

It's really frustrating when docs just want to look at those dang test values.

Hopefully you'll get tested for antibodies, but like he said, since you already

have RA, it's likely you do have Hashi's.

Sounds like you handled him well. You should be armed with plenty of info at

your next visit.

I know this is a busy time for you right now. Things have been crazy for us

too...graduation parties are keeping us EXTRA busy at work...getting ready for

vacation and stuff.

I'm really, really behind on my e-mails. Take care lady & I'll talk to you soon!

Hugs, Sheila

Hi Guys -

Went to my current Endo appointment yesterday. He said my thyroid has been

resistant to the Thyroid Hormone supplementation and he is unsure as to why. I

asked him if I had Hashimoto's, and if the antibodies could be interfering....

he said, hmmm, I would think that you would have auto immune given the RA --

don't know if we tested for antibodies....let's see - (couldn't find a test).

Remember my last bloodwork -- looked as if I had extra t4 not being converted to

t3 -- I asked him about that & he said -- well, a couple of years ago this was a

valid concern but is not right now. It's believed that that does not matter.

Hmmm? I asked about t3 supplementation - he said that t3 supplementation has

not been proven in a study -- he said he hasn't been able to find a recent study

on it and thus rarely prescribes t3. Has only prescribed to one severely

deficient person in the past 6 months. I told him that I read Ken Blanchard's

book and he prescribes supplemental t3 at 2% ratio.

He said -- well next time let's test for anti bodies and excess t4. My next

test date is 6/24. He thinks the dose of Levoxyl I'm on should be sufficient at

this time. We'll see what the tests say! At least I'm getting him to run tests

that I need. I am going to see the other dr. that prescribes Armour on 7/8. I

really want to try it!

I'll be looking for a study on t3 for him for sure! If anyone has any info that

you can post that would be great!

That's all for now -- hope everyone is doing good -- been very busy with the

charity golf tournament we are running this Friday -- can't wait!!!!!!

take care,

I am so proud of you---you have learned so much and it takes HUGE

guts to talk to any doctor like that!!!!! GREAT GOING---

He could give you thyolar which is t4/t3 at a 4/1 ratio I think

(don't quote me I just got off a plane)--it's a synthetic until you

get armour---but you really should get that anti-body test for

Hashi's just to see what is going on.

But armour is best (unless you are the extrememly rare type that

can't take it)

Thanks! I'd just posted asking about conversion :-)

Re: Endo Appointment yesterday

www.armour.com will give you the chart for conversion--it's posted

here as well--but it would take a hunt to find it.--I am just as busy

as , graduation is today and party Sat. and off to the airport

now to pick up daughter---anyway try your regular doctor --sometimes

they will give it to you--best bet for that is first buy it overseas

(what we did) and if it works great for you--it's very hard when you

say to the doctor I feel 10 times better on armour for them not to

give it to you---(we just got ours this month from our endo)--$1.23

to fill it compared to the $50 in Europe and Mexico--but I don't

regret this---we tried it ---it worked better!!!!! also M is now on 2

grains a day with her adrenal glandulars as well--

drlam.com is another great adrenal site---have to look for it at

bottom of page---must run
