Guest guest
Hi Gail - Yes, you are right, it has been very interesting & informative!!!! From what I've heard is if you feel crappy in the afternoon -- crave carbs, sugar etc. it's your adrenals. Could be right with T3 and pain too -- I'd be interested to learn if that's the case. Yesterday afternoon I felt like crud -- so tired, wanted sweets so bad -- had an apple instead. Wanted to give in the oreo cookies but didn't!!!!! That's great that you are writing everything done -- will be worth a lot when you see your Dr. take care, Re: Hot stuff There have been some interesting things discussed the last couple of days! Now, did someone say that if you start to feel worse again by mid- afternoon, that indicates lack of T3? I have only been taking the T4 supplement for a bit less than 6 weeks now, but by mid-afternoon, I definitely feel much worse. I start to unstiffen somewhat a couple of hours after taking the pill, then stiffen up again by 3:00 or 4:00 pm. I am also taking note of everything that's been happening to me, for when I go to see my old Dr. in August. Gail > > Sherry, > > >
Guest guest
Hi Gail! Good for you - good luck with the Armour -- sounds like you are taking control of your health. I feel like I have adrenal issues as well -- I took adrenal supplements for 2 months and it helped a bit. I decided to go off and see if I feel any different -- and I do feel rather run down and my head still feels like it's caving in when I go to stand from sitting, my ears are ringing, and I've been craving carbs in the afternoon & evening something awful! I go to see a new endo next week and I'm going to talk to her about my adrenals & switching from Levoxyl (synthetic T4 only) to Armour -- I've been told by some knowledgeable people on this and another list that due to my bloodwork I may do very well with Armour. I also have RA and Armour is good for that as well. I hope to be able to dump a very expensive RA medication that I'm on -- that may be too much to ask for in the long run -- but we'll see!!!! All the best, Re: Hot stuff , I have just ordered off generic Armour from the myrxforless site, so I'm looking forward to trying that. I am also quite certain I also have adrenal fatigue, as I took that quiz too (can't remember who sent it to the list, but thanks!). I haven't heard from the local HFS about the 7ketoDHEA, but I am taking vitamins--the B's, C, E, a zinc tablet per day. I am going to go downtown and see about selenium at the drugstore as well. So I hope these will support my adrenals sufficiently that I don't have a problem when the dessicated thyroid arrives. Exercise and stress, for example, cause you to " use up " and excrete T3 faster than when resting. This can lead to a temporary shortage of T3 late in the day, particularly if you titrated your T4 dosage based on resting conditions. Some folks evidently cannot convert T4 to T3 fast enough, even with an adequate supply of the former. However, the most likely condition is that you simply have not reached your optimum dose yet. The titration procedure calls for a very gradual ramping up of the dose to avoid going hyper- even a little bit. It took me about four months to reach the steady state dose. Guest guest
Feeling worse/tired/fatigued in the afternoons is also an adrenal sign. Sherry <hary722001@...> wrote:I somehow got this impression but can't back it up. Anyone?? But thinking it through if you have enough T4 it long-lasting enought that it should be available throughout the day converting to T3 as needed. So 3 or 4 pm would not feel any different. T3 does partially wear off in that time frame. But - not all of it so don't assume you can double dose late in the day. For me, when I am having more hypo and dragging in the afternoon, I add 1/3 to 1/4 dose at 2 for a few days in a row. This smidge more makes a world of difference and definately turns around the day. After a few days of this it starts to build up in your system and you don't need that afternoon supplementation. Interesting as usual that is so good to know. _________________________________________________________________ MSN Toolbar provides one-click access to Hotmail from any Web page – FREE download! http://toolbar.msn.click-url.com/go/onm00200413ave/direct/01/
