I'm a strong advocate of Paleo and I'm looking forward to getting back to it. I even recognize some of the people here from various Paleo groups (Hi Debby!) The two diets have a lot in common. Many days I ate only meats/fish, fats, garlic, onions, spinach and butter. And I love it. But maybe once or twice a week I'd eat a bunch of ice cream or cereal & milk. (Bad! Bad!) > > I have a hypothesis: I don't believe Paleo *caused* the c.a. > overgrowth (evolutionarily speaking, that just wouldn't make sense). I've probably had this stuff in me for years. But I *do* believe that the removal of processed foods, TFAs and other toxins from my diet precipitated a number of Candida flare-ups and die-offs. > > I think I was doing a crippled version of a Candida Diet that whole > time without knowing it--and my symptoms were unpredictable because I kept randomly killing it a little, then feeding it a little, back and forth. And if so, shouldn't we warn > the Paleo People? ==>No, it is not possible to " accidently " enter candida; candida only happens under certain conditions, i.e. mainly a depressed immune system. There are some nutrients severely lacking on the Paleo Diet, and/or something causing a depletion of nutrients. I don't have time to go into it now. Bee Quote
Guest guest Posted April 8, 2006 Report Posted April 8, 2006 Maybe you had candida before but didn't know it and your symptoms now are due to healing. Especially if it is coming in cycles and you are 100% on the diet. You will notice as you go along that these waves are shorter and less intense. Be sure to get the coconut oil in. Jeanne otn Quote
Guest guest Posted April 9, 2006 Report Posted April 9, 2006 Thank you Jeanne! I feel 50% validated. ;-) Yes, as I said, I probably had it for years. But my " healing " symptoms began before I started Bee's diet. Indeed before I ever heard of candida. I think the Paleo Diet (low carbs, no sugar, no grains, high in fat, high in Omega-3s, etc) - was responsible for initializing some die-off processes. It went in waves and everything. However, it was not enough to do the whole job, and I ended up aggravating it. And that's how I got here. And if this is the case (and given how common c.a. is), then maybe Paleo people (maybe all low-carb dieters in fact) should be warned that their diet *might* initiate a die-off, there's this thing called candida, maybe you have it, blah blah blah... = S. Also much of today's fruit is way more high in sugar than paleo fruit. To get your body back to normal, you basically eat a candida diet which is like Paleo without fruit. I'm no longer on the Paleo lists as I get all the info I need on here. Luv, Debby San , CA Website for my son Hunter Hudson, born 10/11/04: http://debbypadilla.0catch.com/hunter/ Quote
