Guest guest
Hi Dawn -- Sounds like you've been traveling a long road.... A drug that does helps with T3 is Cytomel -- do you have that in the UK? http://www.medbroadcast.com/drug_info_details.asp?brand_name_id=1202 & dowhat=acce\ pt_disclaimer It's thought in the medical communtity that T4 drugs convert to T3 -- but for some of us it our bodies don't convert as they think they should. If you can get natural thyroid hormone -- Armour Thyroid -- that has some T3 in it. http://www.armourthyroid.com/ Good Luck!! T3 non conversion Hi after months of having been told I didn't have hypothyoidism as my TSH and T4 bloods were in range I ahd a private 24 urine test done whcih showed my T4 -T3 conversion rate was extremely low *my local NHS don't test for T3 if the others are ok). My GP now believes me and is finding an endocrinologist who may help but hasn't prescribed anything I am now taking a natural adrenal glandular and thyroid glandular made by nutrilife in the UK as well as an aurverdic hormone balancer and think it may be starting to work although early days yet. I had already sorted out diet and upped selenium levels as I have been sorting out a candida problem which has probably lead to this I think I read somewhere that thyroxine and other meds don't work on T3 anyone have any ideas of what does and if I am on the right track as I don't want to be wasting money. As I've now been seriously ill for over a year and have had to close my business down I do want to start to get this sorted out so any help gratefully received thanks Dawn
Guest guest
Hi Thanks for that I'll look into it. Just got a letter from my GP this morning unsurprisingly the endocrinologist doesn't believe in these new fangled urine tests and people reading for themselves on the internet so won't see me althoguh (probably to stop me having a tantrum ) the GP has decided to do me a blood T3 and antibodies at long last so fingers crossed Dawn > Hi Dawn -- > Sounds like you've been traveling a long road.... > > A drug that does helps with T3 is Cytomel -- do you have that in the UK? > http://www.medbroadcast.com/drug_info_details.asp? brand_name_id=1202 & dowhat=accept_disclaimer > > > It's thought in the medical communtity that T4 drugs convert to T3 -- but for some of us it our bodies don't convert as they think they should. Guest guest
Dawn, I suspect mine is a conversion problem also. My T4 was in the top part of the range with a slightly elevated TSH and my T3 was in the very bottom of the range. I have been trying the synthetic T4's since November. Not had very good results yet. What seems to have helped me the most was a small addition of selenium and Biotin, and the other trace minerals that are in very small quantities in my multivitamin. DHEA and tyrosine did not seem to have an effect when I took them. Face broke out almost immediately from the DHEA. Ihave also tried to take extra vit C and vit E. I have had better conversion this week, ie higher temps, since starting generic T4 and leaving off my soy isoflavones. Don't know which one is most responsible. I too am having trouble getting the right tests. At least the endo let you know up front that they aren't open to educated customers. Nothing makes me more unhappy than to ask, then go for the office visit only to be told " we don't do that here " .
