Is brown rice flour acceptable in candida diet?

Was just wondering, if brown rice is acceptable, can brown rice flour

be used? I grew up in Ukraine with the buckwheat being a staple

(eaten almost daily) and now just the smell of the stuff makes me

gag. I think I was force-fed it as a kid. So I'm looking for

alternatives to buckwheat that won't make Candida happy.

Hi Irene,

I looked at Bee's " diet in a nutshell " file and she says that brown rice is

okay in one place and then further down in another place she says that the

only grains you should eat are: " No grains except buckwheat, millet and

quinoa. " We'll have to get her to clarify when she returns, (unless someone

else knows for sure.)

Personally, any of the grains give me symptoms (I get tired and depressed

after eating them.) But I haven't tried them in awhile so maybe I'm okay

now. It's been three months.

I always thought that the only grains that were acceptable at the very

beginning of the Candida diet (the first 3 months) were millet, buckwheat

(sorry) and quinoa and even those in moderation. And flour from any of these

would be okay. A lot of people use almond flour for breads and cakes. I

swear by it.

Sorry I'm not a bigger help. ~Robin, the Temporary Board-sitter :-)

Dear Irene & Robin,

Sorry that my article is confusing. Buckwheat, millet, quinoa and

brown rice are gluten-free making them alternatives to gluten

grains. However, they are all starchy foods which feed candida so

they must be eaten with protein and in small quantities.

The ideal candida diet contains no starches of any kind, including

these non-gluten grains. At the beginning you should be off " all "

grains and as you progress you may add small amounts.

It wasn't long ago buckwheat, brown rice and millet caused me to have

severe candida overgrowth symptoms. Now I am doing fine on them, but

in moderation.
