Guest guest
Hey everyone - I was wondering how much of a role does mucus play in a candidiasis infection? I have been consuming probably close to a full cup of olive oil (taken with meals throughout the day) for close to 6 months now and I am starting to think that this may be why my condition only seems to be getting worse. I remember reading that dietary fat forces the liver to discharge mucus into the intestines. Any thoughts? Thanks! Ethan
Guest guest
Dear Ethan, About dietary fat forcing the liver to discharge mucus into the intestines. That may apply to polyunsaturated fats and trans-fats that go straight to the liver; which the liver then has to work hard at breaking it down and getting rid of it, which makes sense it would go back to the intestines as mucus. But it wouldn't apply to " good " saturated fats like lard, coconut oil, butter which go through a different metabolic route; from intestines through the portal vein and then to the liver. The liver doesn't have to work to get rid of it and therefore wouldn't cause mucus. Is your olive oil " extra virgin " in a dark bottle? Even though it is a good fat it can be unstable and go rancid very easily. And keeping it in the fridge makes it go somewhat solid making it difficult to use. And if it goes rancid it will also be a " free radical " in the body. You might get better results by taking less olive oil and by taking more coconut oil and more butter. How are you getting omega 3 oils? Do you take fish oil or cod liver oil? The best Ethan, Bee > Hey everyone - I was wondering how much of a role does mucus play in > a candidiasis infection? Guest guest
I meant to say mucinex but my spell check changed it!!!! mucus question Happy Sunday morning. What could start your day better than a question on mucus? I realized that since the popularity of face book, I really haven't posted here much. But today I am in need of some help from my fellow parents. This morning woke up sick and vomiting. This is very unusual for her as she is the healthiest one in the house. She has no other symptoms, but has a high pain tolerance so if she has stomach pains she isn't letting on.However, she does seem lately to be accumulating a lot of thick mucus(allergies, head colds?) which she can't expel effectively. I actually get the same way when my allergies crop up but I can cough it up and out. And what she is vomiting is larger pieces of last nights dinner. I guess she is not chewing her food up as good as she should either. Sp I guess my question is do any of your kids have this problem of expelling excess mucus? What can you really do other than put them on allergy meds or machine. Kathy mom to 17, almost a high school graduate
Guest guest
Hi Kathy This cold/flu season includes a cold that does make you cough ALOT. Had a co worker who had a hard time with this. When she finally went in for the cough she ended up being off work for a week or so, drs orders. Her NP even tested her for Pertusis, I believe in the week before she went to the fast care she was taking mucinex, tylenol, and basically anything else she could to try to get rid of the cough. Because they don't like to prescibe anthing anymore she waited til about a week after her symptoms started before going in, and she was very uncomfortable for a lot of those days. (they will prescribe something if symptoms have been ongoing with no relief for about 5 or more days, so she chose not to go in earlier) both my husband and I had this same type of symptoms, and in my case even tho i had very little sinus drainage I ended up going to the dr. because an 8 hr cough med didn't last more then an hr and i was up coughing and gagging and hr after i lay down to try to sleep. Tried to sleep again and 15 min later hanging over the garbage in my room again gagging. I really needed sleep so went in, got told it was viral (not surprised) but told Dr that I really really needed to sleep and one cannot sleep if one wakes up every 60-30 min to hang over the garbage can coughing and gagging, then has to try to sleep again. He gave me the Tylenol with codeine, I slept and evidently my body was finally able to begin healing itself as I only had to use it a few days and unlike hubby who didn't use the stuff my cough went away fairly quickly, his lingered for a few weeks. Oh and unlike my co worker i went in a couple of days after the cough started so that probably helped to. Personally I would say take her in and find out if this is the same viral thing going around here if the mucinex isn't working. Oh and always buy the stuff you have to take the card to the pharmacy to get, the lower doses that you can just take off the rack are never strong enough to do what you want them to. Good luck and hope she feels better soon. joy On 1/23/2011 9:49 AM, Kathy sen wrote: > > I meant to say mucinex but my spell check changed it!!!! > mucus question > > Happy Sunday morning. Guest guest
She doesn't have a cough. And the mucinex just came up most likely. I bought the kids liquid stuff and that all I had in the house. mucus question Happy Sunday morning. What could start your day better than a question on mucus? Guest guest
has this problem, we have pretty much decided it is allergy related. We have her on OTC allergy meds routinely now. If the mucous becomes thick, we up her water intake greatly, which does help. Guest guest
If you can get her to use one or allow you to use it for her, a netty pot would help a lot. Mucus is produced in the sinuses and a netty pot and saline solution should help remove it before she swallows it. I remind Liam to blow his nose a lot when I hear the congestion starting. when he was little I used saline solution in his nebulizer to help loosen it up in his nasal passages, Kathy, Liam's mom (12, diabetes, asthma, DS) mucus question Happy Sunday morning.
