Baysfit - that was really helpful information. I have been diagnosed

for 15 years with ME/CFS (which I know now is systemic

candidiasis/gut dysbiosis). I too have always had terrible problems

taking any antifungals due to the horrendous die-off. I have at

times actually had liver function tests from the doctors that have

given abnormal readings and my bilirubin levels always tend to be

raised (Gilberts Syndrome). I note we share the same British

nutritionist a White who is recommending this liver

detoxification profile test you talked about, My concern is

swallowing the paracetamol, asprin and coffee - it would be enough

to finish me off (what with my liver being in such a state). Do you

think it is possible to supplement the livers' detoxification

pathways without doing the test and taking a broad spectrum

nutritional supplement like Dr Cabots Livertone Plus or

Xandria Liver Support? I believe these supplements contain

some of the sulphur amino acids that you talk off that benefitted

your liver. Any advice most appreciated. Thanks

I initially tried to take liver support supplements but that seemed

to knock me out (I was so fatigued I couldn't stand up!). I think it

was because they sped up the'phase I' detox pathway (see sandra

cabot's website for more details). This was not a good idea because

phase II was already slow and couldn't keep up. Therefore I was

becoming more toxic.Incidently, Holford (nutritional expert)

believes most people, like me, with CFS have a sluggish phase II

detox pathway and reved up phase I.

For more info I highly recomend Holfords 2 Books..

Beat Stress and fatigue

and Improve your digestion.

I learned loads from these books and they have helped me no end.

I guess you could try the supplements first and see how you

go.However, a white is a good nutritionist (with tonnes of

experience), so I think you can trust her opinion about the test.

When I had the Liver Detox Profile the caffiene, asprin and

paracetamol knocked me out (I couldn't get up for 2 days

afterwards). However, I now believe the pain was worth it because

the results gave me something concrete to work on. I think it is a

better method than blindly supplementing and hoping for the best.

As the others have mentioned, Drinking dandelion coffee is a good

idea too. I drink gallons of the stuff. I'm having one right now!

Hope this helps,

Baysfit

Dear Robin, Baysfit and Ladywear18,

I believe that liver cleanses do have their place in regaining

health. However, as you and I have discussed before Robin, some of

them are drastic. I did a much milder form of it when I thought I

had gall bladder problems about 7 years ago but I was healthy at the

time. It turned out I had a hiatus hernia that acted up because I

was moving apartments at the time.

Didn't one author recommend liver cleanses not be done except by

healthy people? Maybe I'm overly cautious, but I have to go back to

what was successful for me and for other people in my Candida Support

Group back in the 1980s. None of us did liver cleanses and we all

had liver problems. But we all overcame candida. The emphasis was

the " cave man diet, " nystatin, probiotics, some key supplements and

oils.

When my liver ached I would put a hot water bottle on it, do a coffee

enema (which gave me tremendous relief and is non-invasive), take

baths and drink teas (Pau D'Arco, clove, chamomile, peppermint, etc.).

I don't want to turn you off liver cleanses, however it can flood

your body with a lot of toxins which can be overwhelming at a time

when building up your nutrients and immune system are better for

you. If you consider them, I would take a step by step approach.

Start with the teas recommended by Katja, then do a few coffee enemas

4 days apart, then do a mild liver cleanse. The tea phase should

probably be at least a month.

The best to everyone,

Bee
