Guest guest
5 hydroxy-tryptophan. Rapidly converted to l-tryptophan within the body. There was a scare over l-tryptophan some years back, but it was due to the toxicity of an outside contaminant in a batch, NOT to l-tryptophan itself. But, the imbeciles in FDA outlawed l- form anyway (-insert conspiracy theory here-. also, see GHB for an analogous demonization. also, don't even get me started on the cannabis topic...) so, we now get to use 5 htp- form. Moral: FDA=Stupid monkeys. JC
Guest guest
You're funny Jim. I was just thinking about all the chemicals the medical world inundates us with. Thanks for explaining what 5-HTP is. I know what it is but didn't know how to explain it. Still intend to explain whats in the T-100 too for the one who asked. Keep forgetting everytime I go downstairs to get the bottle. (fibrofog and lack of sleep) Thanks for the tip on another natural antidepressant too Jim. Guest guest
Hi Joyce, ; 5-htp is the purer, active form of Tryptophan, an amino acid. It is good for depression, relaxation and a host of other things. It is pricey, but tryptophan is now only available by prescription because of some problems with a bad lot that came out of Japan and was released on the market here. To use 5-htp capsules 100 milligrams = 1000 milligrams of tryptophan, so only use 1 - 4 capsules daily. If you decide to try it, I would start with one for a few days, taken before you go to bed. It helps you sleep. Also, remember with amino acids, they are best taken on an empty stomach, vitamins and minerals should be taken with food because they need more nutrients to be absorbed. > Hi : It is a form of vitamin B6 I believe.
