Park - is your wife in the beginnings of menopause?

I too have cfs/fm and mps (myofascial pain syndrome)... I have had 2 unneeded major surgeries (which made me much much sicker afterwards),,, terrible (suidical even) depression and lived in such an incredibly sad, bedridden state for at least 3 years of the last 10 that nothing you have said here surprises me in the least.

I completely and totally understand. The first two years of my illness I had 18 (literally) docs. Every one of them had a different approach - i'm almost sure that one of the meds they put Barb on has to be elavil (amytripaline) ... and it turns you into a zombie. I too was told to go to a psychologist... psychiatrist.... etc. I was 'nuts'... and I made it worse when I would 'appear' in another doctor's office - already crying before he walked in - there's 'putting your 'best' foot forward! - the doc wanted to RUN when they saw me! I did go on an antidepressant - a small amount daily - and do feel that it really helped me at the time - along with klonopin to help me sleep at night - 1/2 a pill - 0.5 mg. Drugs at certain times " can " help until you start to get stronger and are able to drop them.

Truly... your message brought me to tears because it is REAL. Most people don't understand this if they haven't been in this type of illness - this is an illness where we LOSE control. Most people have illnesses that 'they' control... they take meds... they do this... they do that - and basically treat it all and carry on as the ones in control - NOT cfs/fm and these illnesses. Once we're sick enough we are OUT of control - the illness is controlling US. This is very frightening for the person in this situation. When it drags on and on for years it takes a toll mentally/physically and spiritually. In my case I felt I hit rock bottom before I started slowly getting better.

The best answer to all your questions is that you need a COMPREHENSIVE approach (and THAT type of Doctor - if there is one!) that will cover " all " your wife's body systems. Not hitting her with prescriptions as the 'answer'. Every doc if they are honest will say that there is 'no cure'. So WHY do they give us prescriptions? To " ease " the pain,,, to " help " us sleep,,, etc. - but these are bandaids and do not help the base problems.

Barb is probably right and DOES have candida - whether a doc sees it in the vagina or not with his tests is not always a relevant answer. If your wife has become so intensely ill and her body systems so weakened, it is probable that the candida has taken over 'systemically' . It will have its 'base' or 'breeding grounds' in the colon but will from there work its way into different body systems - it has been known (because its a fungus) to even affect the heart/lungs - breathing can become a real problem when the infection is very bad - there have been cases where the heart itself was 'encased' in candida albicans. I've posted a lot of things on this site from doctors with these types of stories. The thing that is different about 'systemic' candida is that in a person's case who is extremely ill with it - it could take anywhere from 1-3 YEARS to be completely clear. I know that this does not sound 'easy'... this is what I have learned personally - and it sounds like your wife is at least as sick (or more so) than i have been. Candida is treated in lots of ways - for some of us here we have found the 'natural' approach to be best. On this site - www.wholeapproach.com you will find a page comparing the main treatments for candida albicans - the prescription drugs vs natural treatments... this will help you to look at....I follow the treatment outlined there on that site.

Amazingly, what does happen over time - is that - as the systemic candida is being dealt with ,,, many of the different body systems will start to 'correct themselves'. you will learn about taking 'enzymes'.... a vital part with diet to correct 'leaky gut' problems which I'm sure your wife has if she's been on anti-biotics at any time,,, or any corticosteroids. The gut becomes 'permeable' and allows undigested proteins to pass into the bloodstream - the whole bloodstream is filled with 'garbage'. This itself makes the person utterly exhausted constantly. Taking the enzymes will improve energy and help all the body systems as they move in and act like little 'pacmen' and EAT up the proteins ... and the garbage.... like a 'metabolic vacuum cleaner'.... they are mandatory... and vital.

Also - we talk a lot here about probiotics.... these are friendly flora/fauna that are in the body naturally - but again, with candida and illness (and medications) these are destroyed. Replacing these is imperative as well - again improving energy and balance in all the body systems.

There are also supplements and other things like 'drinks' that you can make yourself at home that are helpful... the BIGGEST thing of all is just plain old getting educated. We in our culture have been brought up to rely on doctors... and it didn't seem wrong to do that! Then these things happen and we realize that there is no answers there... my best learning (and in getting better!) came when I studied things out - and then APPLIED them. We can all read about things and NEVER apply them - then we become 'negatively knowledgeable'... always talking about the 'possible problems'... but never having experienced anything at all!! Many, many of the herbal remedies and supplements that get such a bad rap on t.v. and other 'scare tactic places'... don't harm anyone - they are wonderfully healing and helpful.

Ok... i've rambled on and on - mostly because I CARE so deeply about you and your wife. I have a support forum for people with cfs/fm and mps (and other chronic illnesses) ... if you would care to come visit - you're more than welcome...

This is the site: http://forums.delphi.com/HOPEISALIVE/start/

if you have never joined delphi before you will be required to register before getting in - but its free....

Anyway - there is MUCH posted here on this site in the archives on systemic candida - and all sorts of things - you could go there, read and be helped!!

You are both in my prayers

sincerely

wendy

P.S. what State do you live in?

Hi Park

I wanted to answer your post, but firstly, can you please tell me how old your wife is, if you don't mind.

Kind Regards

Big Trouble, please help/advise (slightly long)

Occasionally we have posted on these boards about my wife's candida situation.

My wife has fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, and candida. Both the first and the last of these cause physically-based depression (as opposed to purely mental depression caused by plain old sad things and events, although unfortunate things have been a part of her life too). The depression and rage usually happens either when she's been explosed to allergins (perfume, mold) or when she is getting her period. The last three months, her periods have gotten worse. The symptoms come up to two weeks before her period. She's had spotting of blood between periods. It's now become so bad that she can hardly walk due to cramping. The fibro symptoms are as follows: incredible muscle pain, depression, and terrible insomnia. The candida has affected every area of her body and causes mental symptoms such as brain fog, anxiety, fear, rage, and ever increasing depression.

We haven't been able to find a candida doctor. My wife was very badly treated by the conventional medical community, which told her it was all in her head and that she should see a psychiatrist. In fact, they didn't even recognize the validity of her fibromyalgia until recently.

We are eating the best diet we can. We don't eat fast food right now for fear of undercooked meat and parasites if not hormones in the meat. We eat as vegetarian as possible. We try to avoid breads, yeasts, sugars, glutens, wheat, caffeine. My wife gets the vitamins and minerals she needs. We are trying so hard to do everything right. We tried Nizoral and it did nothing. Maybe the candida just adapted to it.

We have thought about antidepressants a lot this year. We kept swerving away from the idea, fearing side effects, the effects on the candida/her immune system, and getting on something addictive.

A couple of weeks ago, the depression started to turn suicidal. My wife was hurting herself at night when I was asleep. At least that gave her a little feeling of control over her own body. Namely this was scratching her arms with her very short fingernails and bruising her legs.

A day came when I grew convinced that the next night she would try to kill herself. Foolishly listening to the advice of a holistic caregiver that we felt was a friend, I took my wife to the emergency room.

At first things didn't seem so bad. They took info, checked temperature, pressure, checked insurace card, etc.

Then they led us into the back and had her change into a hospital gown, the kind which ties in the back. Then they made us wait (more). Then a doctor came and checked on her. Then someone else came and talked to her. Then they said she'd have to stay overnight. Then they said she'd have to check herself into their facility. If she didn't voluntarily, they were going to force her to do it involuntarily. I was given no say in this, so I couldn't overrule it.

So they gave me her belt and shoelaces and anything sharp and they put her in their wing that she couldn't get out of with people who were schizophrenic and trying to kick cocaine and so on. I couldn't come with her. Visiting hours were for 4 hours in the late afternoons on weekends, 2 hours in the evening weekdays.

She went in very late on a Friday night. Saturday and Sunday they made her do group activities. The only times she could go outside were for smoke breaks, and those were at certain times of day. Everyone smoked so they could go outside more. For breakfast they had donuts. The food was not nutritional, it was more like airline food than even normal hospital food. It had sugars and white bread and coffee. They wouldn't let her have her herbal supplements, which were the only things that were helping her at all (SAM-e, St. 's wort, etc). She hasn't liked doctors because they made her feel unlistened to, crazy, and powerless. These things only increased by having to stay in a mental ward. Her self-confidence and belief in herself is at a really low ebb.

Do not go to these sorts of places. But if you're going to go, NEVER GO ON A FRIDAY NIGHT. They kept my wife in the system and wouldn't let her out even for Easter Sunday because the real doctors only came mondays/wednesdays/fridays.

Monday they saw her and advised Nofazadone, brand name Serzone. It helps with sleep and is an antidepressant. She had trouble at first because they gave her Ambien at night to help her sleep. She didn't have to take it, but she wanted to. It helped with sleep. What no one told her was Ambien is very addictive and she had a hard time getting off it after taking it only 3 nights.

So Monday night she started the new stuff, Wednesday they decided she could leave.

The medicine, while helping her mood swings, has exhausted her. She has little energy left and she has a hard time waking up in the mornings. We are having some marital difficulties now because she believes that I don't believe that candida is causing all this. I do. I just didn't know what else to do when she got so incredibly depressed this time.

Then, the psychiatrist sent her to an OB-GYN, as a blood test said there was blood in her urine. The OB-GYN was very unhelpful, telling her that she didn't have candida in her vagina, that there was no infection, and the woman generally made my wife feel like she was crazy for consulting her, even though the psychiatrist said to do so. What's worse, the doctor gave her birth control pills, which my wife and I both know promotes candida growth. My wife is very confused right now. She can't live with the worsening PMS, but feels that birth control pills can hurt her, not help her.

So, our questions are as follows:

Do any of you take anti-depressants? What are you experiences with them? Do they help? Do they have side effects? Do they really suppress the immune system?

Do birth control pills really affect the candida negatively as all the books say they do? We don't want to start her on anything that will hurt her further. She's been hurt so much from misdiagnosises and being given the wrong medicines (one doctor pumped her so full of anti-biotics for over a month that it killed off almost all the friendly bacteria in her system).

We are running out of options. The herbs no longer work, as the candida has adapted to them. We are so desperate that we are going to consult a Chinese herbalist on Saturday, just to see if there's any help for her there.

My wife is very depressed now. The experience in the hospital ate away at her self-esteem to the extent that she can hardly function. Her greatest fear has been to be thrust back into the medical community. Having to continue going to a psychiatrist for what seems to be a physical problem is very frustrating for her.

Any advice/support you can give Barb will be very appreciated.

Best,

Park

Hi again

I am going to say my bit now, as I have to shut down the computer for the rest of the day, due to the fact I need to spend time elsewhere.

Park, You didn't say where you live, but I will assume it is the USA. Once you are in the medical system over there for mental illness, it is incredibly hard to get out of unfortunately. As you have found out, you have no rights when it comes to the welfare of your wife There is a heap of information on the Internet about depression, the drugs used, the side effects. Do your homework and look them all up.

I am afraid that what you describe your wife as being like during the night-time, she needs to be on some sort of medication, until you can get things under control. The St s just ain't doing it for her by the sounds of things. You can cut the prescribed dose by half, and see if that still helps, and makes her less groggy and tired. You need to know for your own peace of mind, that she is not going to hurt herself. Your holistic friend is still your friend, he was probably just as concerned as I feel. She does need help, but try to find someone that is a GP, but is alternative as well, so you can work with both drugs and natural herbs/vitamins. What is your wife on at present in regards to that? Has she been allergy tested? I know that certain foods with me affect my mood and can even make me feel angry and resentful. It is really hard to help across the other side of the world, and I am always cautious advising people on what to do, when I don't know them personally. One of my closest friends has severe depression, and I know that in order for her to begin to get a hold on life, she needs medication. It is not the enemy. Wisdom using drugs is always essential. Another question which I hate to ask, but.... you stated life had not been too kind to her, has she dealt with all that, as unresolved anger/unforgiveness does affect our bodies......I am not negating her physical problems, but it is important to look at the whole picture. I hope you can get all the help you can for your lovely wife. You sound a very kind, concerned desperate husband, so I wish you all the best. Use the Internet as much as you can for info. Ask friends about their doctors, and lastly, pray that God will lead you in the right direction -

All the best to you and your wife

Gosh, she is younger than me! Another thought is progesterone. Look up Dr Lee/progesterone on the Internet. She sounds like her hormonal system is out of balance as well. You also didn't say for how long she has been like this? Also, has she had children, and if so, did she get worse after having them? Sorry to be so personal, you can always e-mail me direct if you like, at nwgrant@....

Hi Park,

This is a very familiar story among members of my family - including me. Depression can be a hard one to solve: but it can be managed. I know that I get really awful before my period and I am capable of throwing a rage. The hard thing is I don't want to be like that but this thing just 'takes over'. I believe mine is due to hormones being out of 'whack': this might be the case with your wife. If one has candida then there is a high chance that hormones are not as they should be.

I don't want to presume anything here: but in my family there is a history of mental illness. Manic Depression(NOT to be confused with bi-polar) runs in my family. There is a biological test for it: so don't believe anyone who observes your wife and then says she's got 'such and such'. Two of my brothers have it and 'touch wood' the remaining siblings haven't shown any signs of this depilitating illness. My mum has been dead for 20 years but I still have vivid memories of her throwing a rage (this is part of the cycle of manic depression). While I can have my angry moments (I explain later in this e-mail) I certainly don't have the manic depression cycle that my brothers go through. Infact, they can be really intense, doing everything at 90 miles an hour and then become angry and depressed. They are also people who get obessed with things: and want to be good and perfect with whatever it is they are obsessed with. For example, my younger brother became obsessed with music and he would play his guitar at all hours of the day and night: not being able to sleep and keeping us awake. This 'cycle' can last from a couple of weeks to months. As much as I love my brothers, I'm so glad I don't have to live with them anymore! I just thought I would mention this incase it had any relevance for you.

At the moment, with my naturopath, we decided to wait one more cycle of being on the candida diet before addressing the hormone issue. It was just in case the PMT came right with the body ridding itself of candida. Well, just quietly: I know when I see the naturopath next we will be addressing this issue of hormones (and my poor husband probably can't wait!). I'm not sure how my naturopath will address this: but I do know that it is possible and there will be a way of doing it the naturopathic way. Maybe someone on the list can explain. Anyhow, I'll make a point of keeping you posted with what my naturopath comes up with. The other thing my naturopath mentioned was bach flower remedies- have you tried these?

Also, my naturopath said the feeling of anger and rage and out of control is apparently VERY common among those who have candida.

Anyway, I think your wife is very lucky to have a caring husband like you. You are in my prayers.

God Bless,

Taiaroa.

They took info, checked temperature, blood pressure, checked insurace card, etc.

Best,

Park

We tried Progesterone a couple of years ago. it did almost no good whatsoever.

We live in the States, yes.

She has had CFS and Fibro for at least 10 years, since she was in college, so she has probably had the candida that long too.

no, she's never had children or gotten pregnant.Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com

The gut becomes 'permeable' and allows undigested proteins to pass into the bloodstream - the whole bloodstream is filled with 'garbage'. This itself makes the person utterly exhausted constantly. Yes, we know, it all started when around like 19 or so the doctors put her on massive antibiotic therapy, it wiped out her whole system... that's why she hates medical doctors so much, they made her so much worse and ate up so much money.

we live in ohio.

i know everyone is trying to help.

at 32, i certainly do not think my wife is near menopause, although she has heard rare stories about it coming early for people... another reason we don't want to use the birth control pills, we'd like to have a baby in a year or so after getting things back under control.Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com

,

You letter rings quite true to me. My g/f a few years back was manic

depressive; her obsession was painting, following the same sort of pattern.

She was also troubled about Candida back then. She was ALWAYS craving sugar.

She admitted to me that she would lie, cheat or steal to get sugar, consuming

huge amounts at a time. She would also wake up feeling absoloutely horrible,

like she was always hung over.

I wish I'd known then what I know now...

We are running out of options. The herbs no longer work, as the

I have no problems with the anti-depressant paxil..i don't know what i would

do without it, b/c of the neurotic nature of the symptoms that this

condition causes..birth control pills are bad news..i'm going to the cranton

clinic in troutdale VA in June, so I'll keep you posted on how that

goes..depending on where you live, there are sympathetic doctors..so let me

know and I'll tell you which doctors are in your area. catherine c.

Wow, what a story.

I have alot of sympathy for your situation as I have been mistreated

by the medical community for years.

I am on Welbutrin, which I like. It is an anti-depressant.

I am stopping the Buspar, an anti-anxiety medication since I know the

anxiety is candida related and will soon disappear.

Now, as for your wife.

-She must must must drink water. Lots of water.

This means investing in a good water filter or buying distilled water

for her to drink.

-DO NOT TAKE BIRTH CONTROL PILLS.

These will undo any good that you are about to do.

-Do not deviate from the anti-candida diet.

No cheating, no sneaking, no " it was too inconvenient " .

-Make fresh juices. Carrot, spinach, kale, cabbage, tomato, if its a

vegetable, just juice it!!

This means FRESH JUICE. Not the store bought crap I don't care how

good the label says it is.

-She must get fresh air and sunshine.

Yeasts and molds hate fresh air and sunshine.

Sunshine also helps depression.

-Go to Whole Approach .com and get the anti candida system that

includes the Caprol oil, Bentonite, probiotics and psyllium seeds with

hulls. This works like a miracle and you will get results

immediately. I can not vouch for any other brands as they may not be

as effective.

-Get her some support!! Can she sit at the computer and ask these

questions of us directly? Is she in control of her life at all? Does

she want to be well? How about finding a women's support group to help

her with her emotional issues as she gets well. She needs to call her

life her own in order to feel she has control of her own health.

-I would also include Kombucha since it is remarkable for easing

depression and providing energy. Go to this link

http://w3.trib.com/~kombu/konnection/

This tea also provides immediate energy and a feeling of well-being.

-Water, Pau D'Arco (Taheebo) tea, kombucha tea....one of these should

be in a glass at her side at all times to keep her hydrated and keep

her toxins on the move.

-See a straight chiropractor. Her nervous system could be cross wired

due to vertebral subluxations.

http://www.straightchiropractic.com/referral.htm

If you do all these things, she will make progress. I promise.

Do not compromise.

All these suggestions are offered to you with my great hope that she

will recover.

Immanuel,

period. The last three months, her periods have gotten worse. The

symptoms come up to two weeks before her period. She's had spotting of

blood between periods. It's now become so bad that she can hardly walk

due to cramping. The fibro symptoms are as follows: incredible muscle

pain, depression, and terrible insomnia. The candida has affected

every area of her body and causes mental symptoms such as brain fog,

anxiety, fear, rage, and ever increasing depression.

> >

> > We haven't been able to find a candida doctor. My wife was very

badly treated by the conventional medical community, which told her it

recently.

and minerals she needs. We are trying so hard to do everything right.

We tried Nizoral and it did nothing. Maybe the candida just adapted to

it.

My wife was hurting herself at night when I was asleep. At least that

her legs.

they said she'd have to check herself into their facility. If she

didn't voluntarily, they were going to force her to do it

involuntarily. I was given no say in this, so I couldn't overrule it.

> >

> > So they gave me her belt and shoelaces and anything sharp and

they put her in their wing that she couldn't get out of with people

who were schizophrenic and trying to kick cocaine and so on. I

couldn't come with her. Visiting hours were for 4 hours in the late

afternoons on weekends, 2 hours in the evening weekdays.

> >

> > She went in very late on a Friday night. Saturday and Sunday

they made her do group activities. The only times she could go outside

were for smoke breaks, and those were at certain times of day.

Everyone smoked so they could go outside more. For breakfast they had

donuts. The food was not nutritional, it was more like airline food

than even normal hospital food. It had sugars and white bread and

coffee. They wouldn't let her have her herbal supplements, which were

the only things that were helping her at all (SAM-e, St. 's wort,

etc). She hasn't liked doctors because they made her feel unlistened

to, crazy, and powerless. These things only increased by having to

stay in a mental ward. Her self-confidence and belief in herself is at

a really low ebb.

> >

> > Do not go to these sorts of places. But if you're going to go,

NEVER GO ON A FRIDAY NIGHT. They kept my wife in the system and

wouldn't let her out even for Easter Sunday because the real doctors

only came mondays/wednesdays/fridays.

> >

> > Monday they saw her and advised Nofazadone, brand name Serzone.

It helps with sleep and is an antidepressant. She had trouble at first

because they gave her Ambien at night to help her sleep. She didn't

have to take it, but she wanted to. It helped with sleep. What no one

told her was Ambien is very addictive and she had a hard time getting

off it after taking it only 3 nights.

> >

> > So Monday night she started the new stuff, Wednesday they

decided she could leave.

> >

> > The medicine, while helping her mood swings, has exhausted her.

She has little energy left and she has a hard time waking up in the

mornings. We are having some marital difficulties now because she

believes that I don't believe that candida is causing all this. I do.

I just didn't know what else to do when she got so incredibly

depressed this time.

> >

> > Then, the psychiatrist sent her to an OB-GYN, as a blood test

said there was blood in her urine. The OB-GYN was very unhelpful,

telling her that she didn't have candida in her vagina, that there was

no infection, and the woman generally made my wife feel like she was

crazy for consulting her, even though the psychiatrist said to do so.

What's worse, the doctor gave her birth control pills, which my wife

and I both know promotes candida growth. My wife is very confused

right now. She can't live with the worsening PMS, but feels that birth

control pills can hurt her, not help her.

> >

with them? Do they help? Do they have side effects? Do they really

suppress the immune system?

> >

all the books say they do? We don't want to start her on anything that

will hurt her further. She's been hurt so much from misdiagnosises and

being given the wrong medicines (one doctor pumped her so full of

anti-biotics for over a month that it killed off almost all the

friendly bacteria in her system).

> >

> > We are running out of options. The herbs no longer work, as the

candida has adapted to them. We are so desperate that we are going to

consult a Chinese herbalist on Saturday, just to see if there's any

help for her there.

She's done chiropractry, massotherapy, homeopathy, Progesterone, homeopathic Aqua Flora water... other stuff I can't think of right now... small results for a while, then nothing. Actually the Aqua Flora didn't work even a little really. Progesterone was almost as weak. Caprylic acid nearly destroyed her from die-off, but after the die-off, things didn't improve either. However, we are eating a little better now than we were then, we're thinking of trying it again.

Oh yeah, and we own The Yeast Syndrome, read the books, seen the websites. St. 's wort did nothing for her. SAM-e was slightly good, then it got slowly weaker and weaker. Now she can't take it because of the Serzone, it might interfere.

I appreciate everyone's viewpoint. I'm just saying one reason it's scary is she feels like she's running out of things to try.

I was suffering with candida, hormonal imbalance, panic attacks,

depression and food sensitivities for a long time and couldn't

put a finger on what was wrong. Depression got worse because of

being sick so long without any treatment. I knew I had a hormonal

imbalance that no doctor would treat. I eventually went on an

antidepressant to control the mood swings, anxiety and inability

to sleep. The antidepressant I went on did a fine job of getting

my body to relax so I could concentrate on the other symptoms.

I started finding out what food allergies I had by reading the book

The Yeast Syndrome. Also this book and another title that I read

helped me begin to find the doctor I needed to get the treatment

for Candida.

About the antidepressants. They are not addicting. A person may

develop a mental dependency on them for being afraid to stop taking

the medicine. They all have side affects like making you very tired,

this improves in time. They made me very talkative and a little

aggressive during the increased dosages. I have read stories about

some people having incredible anxiety that lead them to kill themselves.

This does not usually happen but the doctors are the ones who should

counsel you to any adverse and dangerous side effects. What exactly the

side effects could be differs from one person to the other. We each

have our own different body chemistry. Sometimes the challenge is finding

the right medicine for your body.

Most of my friends that were on antidepressants were on a very small dose

and only for 6 months. Not me, the doctor explained that my liver was

doing a really good job of eliminating this drug so I needed to take top

dosage. 250 MG a day. Also if you are getting good treatment the doctor

will order a blood evaluation to see how high this medicine is in your

system. Too high of a dose for any individual will cause liver damage.

What is important is if you are like me and need a large dose to settle

anxiety then you must NOT stop taking this medicine at any time. This

is always dropped in small doses like it was when the medicine was

increased.

Antidepressant work in some way with changing your heart rate and blood-

pressure. So stopping suddenly is a definite NO! It could cause you

to suddenly collapse and become unconscious and could involve seizures.

You mentioned about your wife beginning to cut herself. That is a

behavioral symptom is triggered by extreme anxiety and felling trapped.

She may be given a sedative or tranquilizer for this. Understand that

these drugs are very powerful and are not needed to take for a lifetime.

Only for a short duration of time. Unless in a case of something as

serious as a psychosis. My son had similar problem and after being on

this type of medication for 4 months and the pressures resided he was

off this medication and not cutting himself.

Also, If you feel you are not getting the treatment that you need, please

obtain another doctor. I did, the first psychiatrist I saw was a jerk.

I asked my doctor for a referral and he gave me two names. I picked the

jerk first, left and was treated by the other reference.

Also I would like to mention here is I tried all the herbal stuff first.

Got no where with it. None of it made me drowsy and the St. s Wort

didn't help even a little bit. When your system is fully out of wack,

you need the medication. Although, I haven't tried every available product.

Only the ones at my health food store. I now am on the web and feel the

advantage. :)

Immune system. I do not believe they suppress the immune system. St. s

Wort was found to raise the immune system. Also I can testify that I rarely

get any cold while I have been on this antidepressant. And even further

I haven't received one cavity in the 5 years that I have been on the

medicine.

Before, I had a tooth filled every 6 months. My doctor told me that my

discovery is not unusual, that many people have the same experience that I

have. Whats more is, if you are extremely tense, depressed, lack proper

sleep, your immune system is already at a weakened state. You can only

begin

helping yourself by taking the antidepressant.

I don't think you were foolish by taking your wife to the emergency room.

Now see that you look for a better mental health provider. I fussed about

being

on this medicine because my anxiety didn't go away completely. Five years

is

a long time. The last time I was on it I spent only 2 years with treatment.

However, a good doctor bears benefits. Do you know what my psychiatrist said

to me? " You know, it could be your thyroid, many people have chest pains and

anxiety with that, have that checked out. Also, you could be suffering from

fybromyalgia. Many doctors don't recognize the condition and when a patient

is suffering from this disorder it can take as long as 10 years for a

complete

diagnosis. " I love that guy! I was seeing a Naturopathic M.D. He came to

the conclusion that not only my progesterone was low, my thyroid also. He

treated them both and my muscle pain went away. Many of my joint pains too.

Also I have full energy.

Last week I decided to drop one of my antidepressant because I think now I

may

be able to get off of them permanently. I couldn't have survived all these

changes without them. You may want to see a Naturopathic M.D. or a

chiropractor.

And feel free to ask any more questions.

'foundational problems'.... need 'foundational treatment'... Foundational is to get the body systems/and the candida, etc. IN CONTROL.... " " THEN " " you work from there to other things.... if Barb has " " tried " " to get her candida under control - but never really *known* if she has... SHE HASN'T. She is STILL sick... do the FULL treatment - get the toxicity out of her - and from the point of getting this DONE - she will get better and better quickly. But deal with the foundational problem that is gumming up her whole body - and affecting her mentally, emotionally and physically.

sincerely

we live in ohio.

i know everyone is trying to help.

at 32, i certainly do not think my wife is near menopause, although she has heard rare stories about it coming early for people... another reason we don't want to use the birth control pills, we'd like to have a baby in a year or so after getting things back under control.

Park ,

Caprylic acid is not the same as Caprol.

I got an inflamed liver from using Caprylic acid.

Your wife must have suffered terribly from it.

NO DO NOT MIX fresh vegetable JUICE WITH FRUIT JUICE!!!!

Over the counter orange juice or even fresh squeezed fruit juice is

full of sugar. Sugar feeds candida. End of story. How many small

compromises are being made in this woman's treatment? A little sugar

here and there MATTERS!!

Please take 's advice and have your wife work on the foundation

of her wellness. It seems to me that she has been pumped full of

random cures haphazardly and has gotten predictably poor results.

Adding hormones is not the best idea right now. Tissues respond to

hormones to produce the body's natural functions. If a woman's

tissues are infected with candida, they will not respond to her own

hormones or from added hormones taken orally. The tissues must be

healed first.

-She must must must drink water. Lots of water.

This means investing in a good water filter or buying

distilled water for her to drink.

Is she drinking right now? When was the last time she had a clean

drink of water? Remembering to drink water once or twice a day is not

enough. There must always be a water bottle at her side so she can

sip it all through the day. Dehydration causes pain. Toxins cannot

be flushed out without water.

-Do not deviate from the anti-candida diet.

No cheating, no sneaking, no " it was too

inconvenient " .

Fresh raw foods should be the main components of a healthy diet.

Meats, proteins, eggs, fish etc should comprise about 20% of the diet.

A big salad with lunch and dinner will help with appetite control,

increased fiber intake and an excuse to have lots of olive oil which

is important.

-Make fresh juices. Carrot, spinach, kale, cabbage,

tomato, if its a

vegetable, just juice it!!

This means FRESH JUICE. Not the store bought crap I

don't care how

good the label says it is.

Tomatoes and carrots are very sweet so use alot of them to make the

juice tasty. Find a combination she likes.

-She must get fresh air and sunshine.

Yeasts and molds hate fresh air and sunshine.

Sunshine also helps depression.

And its free! Deep breaths taken outdoors will help her.

-Go to Whole Approach .com and get the anti candida

system that

includes the Caprol oil, Bentonite, probiotics and

psyllium seeds with

hulls. This works like a miracle and you will get

results

immediately. I can not vouch for any other brands as

they may not be

as effective.

I have tried other brands. I have found this brand to be one of the

best. The Bentonite clay helps the die-off by absorbing toxins before

they can make you sick.

-Get her some support!! Can she sit at the computer

and ask these

questions of us directly? Is she in control of her

life at all? Does

she want to be well? How about finding a women's

support group to help

her with her emotional issues as she gets well. She

needs to call her

life her own in order to feel she has control of her

own health.

I am very concerned that this woman feels out of control of her own

life. None of this will work if she is being force fed. Is there

someone she can talk to outside of the home? A minister/rabbi? A

counselor? Even a nutritionist whom she can see alone? It is

essential that she feels she is creator of her own destiny and

responsible for her wellness approach.

-I would also include Kombucha since it is

remarkable for easing

depression and providing energy. Go to this link

http://w3.trib.com/~kombu/konnection/

This tea also provides immediate energy and a feeling

of well-being.

There are links at this site for fibro, depression, CFS, candida,

arthritis,,,,you name it its there. These links explain how Kombucha

can alleviate these disorders. This tea costs next to nothing to

make.

-Water, Pau D'Arco (Taheebo) tea, kombucha tea....one

of these should

be in a glass at her side at all times to keep her

hydrated and keep

her toxins on the move.

This is a tough one since I forget to drink all the time. I have to

force myself to get up from the computer to get cold water. But I

feel like crap when I forget to drink.

-See a straight chiropractor. Her nervous system

could be cross wired

due to vertebral subluxations.

http://www.straightchiropractic.com/referral.htm

Straight chiropractors are different from rational chiropractors or

chiropractors who do iridology, nutritional counseling, massage etc.

You should go to one at least once a month to keep your nervous

system in working order. Straight chiropractors have taken an oath to

treat people regardless of their ability to pay. They are highly

ethical.

If you do all these things, she will make progress. I

promise.

Do not compromise.

All these suggestions are offered to you with my

great hope that she

will recover.

is right. TRYING things and not getting immediate results is not

going to help. Stick with the basics at first. It is more difficult

than it sounds to begin to form good eating habits, stick to the

candida diet, etc.

Once the basics are down pat, in a few months new things can be added

to facilitate her wellness.

Please encourage her to talk to us herself. I know you mean to help

her and we appreciate that. May God guide you to wisdom concerning

all of this.

Immanuel,

-adele

My new questions/comments:

--Barb drinks filtered water often every day, but I see the wisdom of having a special bottle ready for her at all times... I have prepared this now.

--We will try to stop having fruit juices in the house, even for me. I am ready to drink just water if it will help keep this temptation away.

--I am still working on this concept of Caprylic vs. Caprol. Today at GNC Barb picked up some stuff from brand Nature's Herbs that says "Caprinol: Sustained-release caprylic acid... certified potency caprylic acid for use with your candida dietary program." So this stuff, it is bad?

--Thank you for explaining about Bentonite Clay.

--It is very hard for Barb to get on here and ask questions herself. I wish she could! Strangers scare her and frankly the truth about candida would often scare anyone. It's hard to cope right now. I am just trying to help. Barb has had a fear of medical doctors since they pumped her full of antibiotics and made her so sick and took all her money in her college years. It has been extremely hard to know whom to trust medically. We are trying our best to hold things together.

--I would appreciate any advice anyone might have about staying on a sleep schedule and getting it straightened out... Right now the antidepressants and allergic reactions have Barb down in the daytime and up in the middle of the night... and of course there's no time more perfect for depression like 3am to 6am...

Park - on the www.wholeapproach.com site they have a page devoted to comparison of most of the more popular treatments - and their long term results.

Also the products on Whole Approach - the ATTOGRAM products - which are the bentonite, caprol and the psyllium husk/seeds can all be found at cheaper places... whole approach is not the cheapest place, but I consider it a top notch treatment program - that has been researched and proven to really have a very high result of the candida non-recurring.

If your wife is 32 and thinks she is going into early menopause;

sounds like me. I did not get early menopause, suffer with

low thyroid and low progesterone with candida to top it off.

Most things are getting under control now and I am smiling more

often. Look into those things as well as the antidepressant and

she will feel very level.

Important to know about taking prescription antidepressants.

If you take herbal antidepressants while you are on the prescriptions

antidepressants, the herbal antidepressants wont work. It could

make you feel worse. I read in a magazine discussing St. s

Wort, you cannot take these things together because they work

differently in the body. So if you are on the prescription

antidepressants, stay off of the herbal forms.
