Every time I went to the doc with any symptom at all they put it down to " stress " or " nerves " , from overweight to headaches, from stomach upsets to mouth ulcers, from eczema to depression, from haemorroids to trembling fits. Then they offered me psychiatric drugs, which I refused. My refusal to take the drugs meant I was treated as an awkward patient who would not do as she was told. They just banged on for 8 years about my terrible " nerves. " I was put on antibiotics in 95, 96, 97 and this February 2000. In the past I had taken the contraceptive pill, and for the last 17 years cortisone cream for the eczema. Eventually I accepted the psychiatric drugs, as I was a nervous wreck by June 2000. In fact, my GYN, not even a month ago, told me that the only folks he had ever seen with systemic candidiasis " were very sick and died " . I said, " Well, so am *I*, I'm just doing it gradually " . But still, he said he " didn't believe in it " . I've been treating with traditional doctors for at least 20 years, for " irritable bowel " , and had not success at feeling better. About 6 or 7 years ago it got dramatically worse, and I was in pain all time time, with secondary symptoms (that could be seen in lab tests and through a " scope " ) caused by persistent air in my ascending colon (for which my MD said, " Gee, Lynn.... there's always air in your colon, but I have no idea why " . And still they treated the symptoms, but not the problem. So now, *I* have figured it out, and *I* am treating myself with good results. Still, my GYN doesn't " believe in it " , even tho I am getting better. Pretty hard-headed, wouldn't you say??? Anyhow, just wanted to let you know that this is not a problem you face alone. There are MANY cases of MD's denial of this condition, and diagnosis of " it's all in your head " . Lynn
Guest guest
I've heard almost the same story from so many people that it's unbelievable. I might have walked down the same path if I had been willing to take the antidepressant drugs the doctors wanted me to. I said I wanted to research them, first, before agreeing to take them, and they labeled me obsessive compulsive, because they thought it was neurotic that I wanted to have control over the treatment for my health problems, which they passed of as primarily brain chemical imbalances. It has nothing to do with being obsessed with control. It has to do with being intelligent enough to learn things for myself, and not blindly follow the crowd as they leap off the cliff of medical stupidity. But instead of recognizing that I'm an intelligent person, they label me as being neurotic. Too bad they don't realize how neurotic they're being. Still, it would be nice if all these " neurotic " people would band together and force the medical industry to recognize their stupidity. And I'm glad to see someone making an attempt. I hope you accomplish something. lindaj@...
Guest guest
Well I think it is absolutely incredible that so many mainstream doctors - it must run into hundreds if not thousands, are denying the existence of an illness suffered by millions and which gets better when treated as though it were candidiasis. Years ago they could not " see " cancer, before they had the technical means, and it has all proved to be all to real. I think, (and I am only a psychology Honours grad so what do I know!?!) that the reason they don't want to admit it is that THEY CAUSE IT! What do others think. Guest guest
Thanks . I'd love to read your own story in full if you have it available. The more true-stories we amass between us the better. We could all then use them to back up our own cases or as proof (if proof is needed). I mean, if Lynn had been able to go to her MD with a sheaf of other people's written experiences it might have made things easier for her. Another thing: my boyfriend has persuaded me to upload my story onto the Net, under an assumed name, (I would not want people who were searching for me in my professional life to know all my personal business.). At the top - to be picked up by Search Engines - will be words such as " misdiagnosis - NHS - candida - thrush - depression - anxiety - panic attacks " - so that anyone doing a search on any of those words should be led to my story. I am only doing this in the hope that other people will not have to go through eight years of increasing illness, which almost ended in suicide, like I did. I know I will have a fight on my hands next Wednsesday when I meet with the Surgery Manager (ie my doc's boss.) I would love to show them 's story as well, and/or anyone else who would like to supply theirs, because it seems sufferers are commonly misdiagnosed as needing psychiatirc drugs although they live on different continents (I assume you are in USA). Rather than neurotic I think they labelled me as being like a naughty child who refused to take her medicine and so would never get better. I have a full version of my story it's 6 pages in MS Word. It was what I wrote as the basis of my complaint to the NHS last week. If anyone would care to read it I will email it direct to you on request. It is in Word but I can paste it into an email if required. Lee

Guest guest
Lee; I am in the process of writing my medical journal on my experiences with candida and have offered before if anyone wants their story told i am accepting them for my book. i have a few now, a summary of your experience would be great! there is no charge. my e-mail is mogdrmom@... i need a signed paper giving me this permission, dated and what it's intent is for. i'm still going thru a lot, but it's been absolutely amazing what i've been thru. i felt it needed to be told & that's what i'm doing. it's a slow process but hopefully i can do this next year. talk to everyone later. mogdrmom

Guest guest
Finally someone said it! They (doctors and pharmaceutical medicines) cause it and have a vested interest in you NOT getting well. It is their livelihood. Big business(corporations) " own " so much of our government that it no longer works for citizens, only corporations. The FDA is completely corrupted. If you are looking for something approved by the FDA, you are wasting your time. You have to be responsible for your own health and life and that of your families. We cannot afford to be lazy and expect someone else to handle our problems. We must all try to eat healthier and more organic, as long as we do not allow them to corrupt the word " organic " which they are attempting to do. there are easy ways on the internet to get in touch with you Senators and Representatives, as well as your Governors and the White House. There are groups to join and support. If we all do not care enough to do something, we are doomed to eating diseased animals and genetically engineered crops (which insects and animals will not). If you think that you cannot do anything, check this out and then think about it: Here is one 90 year old woman doing something about it. http://www.grannyd.com/ Peace, and Joy, Gloria Re: Re: My story and the NHS Well I think it is absolutely incredible that so many mainstream doctors - it must run into hundreds if not thousands, are denying the existence of an illness suffered by millions and which gets better when treated as though it were candidiasis. Guest guest
Lynn, you hit the nail on the head. They do not want to cure Candidiasis, Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia, or a long list of others, because it is their " bread and butter " . They want to us to " keep coming back " . They are not going to kill the " Goose who lays the Golden Eggs " , which is us being sick! We are not going to get help from them (doctors and the medical profession). We have to do it ourselves. Guest guest
I've been told that doctors cannot give advice or prescribe any meds, etc. that are not FDA approved. The pessimist in me wants to agree with Lynn - that the doctors know about the causes and don't care. I find it hard to believe they don't know, because this is a growing epidemic. The optimist in me wants to believe that the doctors, upon licensing, sell their souls to the FDA and are therefore restricted from talking about cures for candida (since most are natural and/or because they know they caused it). OK...note the sarcasm... Personally, I think doctors know candida exists. It does mimic approx. 140 other illnesses. They probably assume candida as a last resort. I don't know, because I never went to any ONE doctor 140 different times to find out how long it takes to diagnose it. I have considered suing just to bring attention to the issue, but I just want to go on with my life. I am angry for the lost years I had. I don't want to lose more tme in court battles. I am still seriously considering writing letters to EVERY doctor I have been to in the past 10-15 years (if I can even remember who they are) to let them know they misdiagnosed me as well as made me worse by handing out anti-biotics every time they didn't know what was wrong. I want them to know they should consider this illness in other patients with these symptoms. ~ In a message dated 7/19/00 4:26:55 PM Central Daylight Time, lynga1@... writes: << ****I'd have to agree with that. We don't come under the FDA in England but the doc act jus the same. I have got an offical hearing for my complaint against the doctor coming up. Will she say she is very sorry and has learned a lesson, or will she deny the existence of my condition? If hse denies it, I shall be collecting all your stories (I will not give out your email address just a first name to identify you with) and print them out and give them to my doc. Also taking the printouts of hundreds of candida websites plus the books I have bought. Lee

Guest guest
Doctors cannot treat Candida because they would first have to tell you to stop taking meds. All chemical meds upset the balance of candida which is a natural part of the bacteria in your intestines. Chemical meds kill off the friendly bacteria, which keep candida under control. Candida then goes crazy, growing all over the place, then moves out of the intestines throughout the body and then grows roots and becomes a parasite. Doctors treat you with more meds that do not really help as has been testified to by many on this list. Gloria Re: Re: My story and the NHS I've been told that doctors cannot give advice or prescribe any meds, etc. that are not FDA approved. I went to my doctor this morning as a follow up to medication I took to kill off H. pylori that came up positive in a blood test. Of course the candida continued to grow after the two weeks of Amoxicillin was completed. And now the candida is tougher. I decided to tell my doctor that I still believe that I have candida fungus in my bowel. She gave me a predictable response. I walked out with a prescription for Lotrimin to kill off hand fungus. I felt like I had then just wasted my time, because I did.
