Hi patty - I don't use those anymore.... about 15 years ago I last used

nystatin....

i believe that there are alternatives ....

i'm not 'against' people that do tho!!

nystatin was BAD,,, never said at all that it caused liver damage... never

said ANYTHING... other than that I don't take it anymore ... my candida

purge works very well...

i have many books saying nystatin is just *great* (if you can stand the

bitter taste!)

I wish many people on this list would listen up to taking nystatin.

The link I posted above this letter tells, who invented it and where

it comes from. Many people here think it will cause organ damage but

it is not so. There are people who cannot tolerate it, like some

can't tolerate certain foods. I read in one of my books that it is

extremely rare that it could cause any organ damage problem, but 1

case was noted. Taking Tylenol can put you at greater risk for liver

damage!!

It is not in this article, but in another I read a few weeks back,

that every amount of Nystatin you take in your mouth your body then

dumps it out in the toilet. 100% It does not become absorbed by

the stomach or gut. Natural it is.

It worked very well for me. I took the powdered Nystatin. Even tho

I didn't have the oral thrush it cleaned my system out very well.

I do have this yeast in other parts of my body, side of my face,

behind my eyes, sinuses-they began burning a few months ago. I feel

this glob around the outside of my stomach and pain in the side of

my colon/on the outside. Nystatin can't help me there.

So far all of the systemic drugs are synthetic. Thats why it is

such a risk. So far I havent found a natural approach removing

my yeast that has developed beyond the digestive tract. I am currently

taking colloidal silver and making another person rich.

There are those persons on this list that has gotten great results

with an all natural approach to fighting this yeast. But you have

to decide this for yourself because many of us are not affected by

the same strain of yeast. One thing that may help one person may

not be suitable for the next.

As far as to why can't you use this for long period of time, it's

because yeast can build up resistance to your antifungal. It is

suggested that you rotate your antifungal every 4 days. However,

it took me 2 weeks on the Nystatin to get die-off. So talk that

over with your doctor about rotation and what else to use. Start

reading over the archives, this may help you develop other protocols.

I have a hard time getting nystatin also. I am afraid to think of where I would be now if it weren't for taking nystatin and diflucan. These drugs have helped tremendously.

I am grateful that I am able to get free diflucan through the Medicine Program. They help people who have a hard time paying for their prescriptions as long as you are not on public assistance of any kind. I have had the hardest time trying to get nystatin the same way but just finding a pharmacutical that even makes the drug is the hardest thing to find. Also, both these medications are quite expensive. It's aggravating that they have to cost so much because if you have candida as bad as I have it, you have to take so much of them for a long time, usually years as I have had to do.

I have heard that you have to watch your liver enzymes when you take

Diflucan...not sure about Nystatin.

Sorry, I wasn't pointing to anyone in particular.

It was easy to mail my post from the mail that was

already in my mailbox. Still had the subject line.

I get an overall negative feeling that Nystatin is taboo

with this group. Living with this yeast disorder

involves much anxiety and fear that goes with it.

And what I am really afraid of is that many persons

could get scared away from a very beneficial treatment.

Especially when you have a doctor that understands the

condition. (something I don't have)

Powdered nystatin is bitter but not nearly as bitter as

MSM! I am taking that and ugh!!! Taking them in juice

is much better. And I had a colonscopy

done and the drink I had to gulp down was the worst. One

gallon of it! I really prefer tablets myself.

I get my nystatin right here in my small town for $40 for a bottle of 100 count pills that lasts me a week. I used to take the powder and it was very effective but the taste was horrible and it's more convenient to take the pills for me. I find they work just fine even though I've read alot that most people take the powder.

the reason most people take the powder is that it 'gets to' the colonies of candida in the throat area... and the esophagus... otherwise your pill will go immediately into the stomach and break down from there...

for the first week. He told me the size of the head of a tooth pick in a

glass of water. The largest dose would end up being a 1/4 of a tsp.

I have found out that mine was not digesting my food properly

so how do I expect to get full benefit from tablets I was taking.

Give the pills a try, if you are not getting successful die-offs

then ask for the powder. The pharmacist can explain to the doctor

how to write the prescription. My doctor refused at this suggestion.

The pills are great if you have to take them to work with you. The

only drawback about the powder is that it must be kept refrigerated.

It's some kind of antifungal critters and if left at room temperature,

they will die. So it does make me wonder how useful can the tablets

be since they are not given with instructions to keep refrigerated.

One thing that the powder helped me tremendously with was my stomach.

I had intense symptoms for 12 years before I got the nystatin. So....

Many times my stomach would just pain me. And I noticed times my bowels

pained me also, and vagina/uterus also. Of course we all know that when

you just treat you vagina with suppositories the pain then moves to your

bowel. Thinking if this, I got rid of the idea that I had an ulcer,

and decided to take the powder during the episodes of the stomach pain.

The doctor recommended to take nystatin BEFORE eating. But I got stomach

pain at other times.

So during this stomach episode I took 1 dose of medicine-off schedule.

In about 15 minutes I became nauseous and 5 minutes I threw up. My

stomach was empty of food at that time and the contents was nothing but

mucus. I hate to be gross but live and learn. There was strands of

mucus about pencil size but broken 1 inch bits with the ends shredded

like straw. I was successful in doing this again with the powdered

Nystatin BUT also successful with the same experience with POWDERED

CAPRYLIC ACID. So don't despair. If you feel you need additional help

chose the caprylic acid capsules, let us know how it works for you.

When taking the powder form of anything it disperses overall and mixes

with the food you tend to eat. I picture the tablets sitting in one

spot and not getting this mixture to blend altogether through your

digestive system. But Carol, I do not know what variety of fungus I

have, this may not be your case at all. But it is really good to know

you can rely on caprylic acid as well.

It does jack up your entire system. You may benefit with

enzymes as well. I kept tasting all the protein I ate all

day long, that was a clue I wasn't digesting it. I am 42

so I kind of expect it now, but didn't know this supplementation

this board I believe. I was going to order from them and got

shocked to find it show up at my local health food store.

Mostly all I could find was the hard tablets.

I took the powder nystatin when I was at my sickest and I found it very effective. My die-off reaction lasted for months. As I got better, I asked my doctor if I could go to the pills because I felt ready to change to the pills and it was more convenient for me. I find that if you have an extreme case of candida the powder is best to help with the yeast in the mouth and esophogus. I also find that the pills are much cheaper and that was another reason for wanting to change what form I wanted to take.

I think everyone is different and there are many different ways to treat candida. I don't think there is a wrong way, just think about what is best for you.
