Hi there,

I developed candidiasis in mid-January from a strong antibiotic. I

have read the Yeast Connection, I'm on the strict diet, and I'm

taking Nystatin, Caprylic Acid, acidophilus, and garlic supplements.

My symptoms are minimal as long as I don't stray from the diet, but

its precarious at best.

From my reading, I anticipated that I'd get through this in a short

time, but many of you say you've been treating your symptoms for

anywhere from 1 to 6 years! Reading that is devastating...it makes me

feel like there is no end to this hell.

A few questions: why would it take so long, and what should i expect?

also, some diet related questions: The yeast connection handbook says

that sweet potatoes are a staple for a candida diet...do you all find

them to be ok? also, is it a mistake for me to be eating brown rice

and buckwheat flour? Its hard to get through a full day on meat and

vegies alone.

I'm having a hard time getting through this...I'm in my early 20s,

and used to living on the go and partying. I've had to complely

rearrange my lifestyle to accommodate this candida, and its really

dragging me down. Any help would be appreciated.

No, you don't have to stay on the diet forever. But you might want to make

some changes so that this does not come back. eliminating most processed

foods and sugars will help you keep your body healthy so the candida will not

take over again.

As far as how fast it takes, that depends on you, the severity of your case,

and what you are taking. I have been on the candida diet for 5 months and

have had some good results.

It is difficult, but this is not something you want taking over your body.

You can do it! If I can, anybody can.....

Alot of us are young here.. so dont feel bad about that.. I'm in my mid

20's.. The first mistake i made years ago was to try to treat this by

bombarding my body with supplements and all that retardedness.. It didnt

work.. The fact of the matter is that this overgrowth / genetic disorder

will most likely be with us forever.. Very, very few people i have heard

that have totally cured themselves of a systemic candida overgrowth.. All

those supplements and crap out there that claim they will cure candida are

full of sh*t...

The best thing you could do...and that has worked for me.. Is to just

introduce a diet into your lifestyle and make it permanent.. Dont eat candy

or sugary stuff...ever. Your just gonna feel like sh*t.. Drink water,

de-caf tea / herbal teas... If you dont like the way water taste...Put some

freshly squeezed lemon in there...I drink that everyday.. Or drink the water

when its cold only..Tastes better that way... Or even club soda.. After

awhile you will enjoy water.. I thought i never would...but i am.. And eat a

salad atleast once everyday to help take the burden off your overworking

liver.. Dont stuff yourself... EAT LESS... YOU WILL FEEL BETTER... Eat as

many veggies as you can.. I know the taste sukz but... Think about all the

cleansing you are doing for your body.. Fruits are sugar... They dont work

for me..I feel worse with fruits...Maybe others are different... Potatoes

are no good too.. Just eat catiously...You know your going to feel like

garbage after you eat something high in sugar, so why eat it? Eat meats

too... The leaner the better... I'm NOT saying to just slave yourself to

these foods... I eat some mcdonalds and other fast food...Sometimes once a

day..And i still feel great..But i do not overwelm myself.. Thats when i

feel terrible.. You can have a bad meal once a day.. But just dont do it 3

to 4 times a day.. You will be overloaded with toxins..

To sum it up... I initially tried to do like you did.. I would eat nothing

and totally suffer for 6 months to get arid of this candida...guess what?

its still there... It'll probably always be there.. I honestly felt like i

was in jail or something...and i went through my own mental torture to avoid

the foods i love soo much.. And i will never do that again.. Because i felt

like i'd rather die then not eat those foods that make me happy.. So i just

take everything in moderation now.. And if i feel my symptoms startin up

again.. I just take it easy and drink alot of water/lemon water/or tea.. And

it usually gets better.. This has been my eating lifestyle for about the

last 2 years..And i feel good about.. I dont force myself to eat this way..

I just do it casually everyday. You guys should do the same and you'll feel

better.
