Guest guest
Doug, Oh, poor dog! I am really not sure about the dosing of doxy for dogs. However, you can give probiotics capsules mixed with peanut butter - that is how I give meds to our dogs. You may also want to try Omega Nuggets from Omega Fields. http://www.omegafields.com/productDetail.asp_Q_catID_E_7_A_subCatID_E_22_A_produ\ ctID_E_7_A_healthy_dog_treat_canine_treats_omega3_treats_E_healthy_dog_treat_can\ ine_treats_omega3_treatsOur dog had a definite limp starting at 2 years old. He had it for several years. A few weeks after using Omega Nuggets doggie treats he has been limp free. He seems much happier now, and he now runs around the house chasing our other dog for fun - he never ran when he had the limp for years. They have been well worth it for our dogs. I suspect our dog have Lyme as well. I have not opted for other treatment with him since he would not be able to provide me with feedback so I would not know how to help him with detoxing. I am having enough problems handling our own treatment. But he seems to be doing quite well on the Omega Nuggets. I also recommend that people take Omega 3 supplements (for people!) to reduce inflammation from Lyme. Good luck with your dog! Guest guest
Diane, dogs are routinely put on doxcycline. I have given my dog one on a day where I pulled a tick off of her. No problem. I just need to know what would be a typical dose once they get lyme. My vet is not helping as she does not test positive. I am considering giving my dog my left over doxcycline. Doxcycline is effective against osteoarthritis even if a dog does not have lyme. This has been proven in human tests. It helps my knee arthritis. Guest guest
Diane, yes dogs get 1st class treatment. Smokey is about 45 lbs. I appreciate that. See if you can find out about their susceptability to candida from long term ABX when you talk with that friend. Thanks alot, Doug From: Diane Biel <dkbmama (DOT) com> Subject: Re: [ ] My dog's lyme? @group s.com Date: Tuesday, December 29, 2009, 9:24 AM My two small dogs both got the lyme shot last year and both were sick and throwing up for over a week - do you think that shot did something to them - if I was aware that they were going to give it to them I would of not let them........ .. Guest guest
Thanks , I may get a second opinion on my dogs problem before I proceed. She is black and I can't always see those small ticks. She is on frontline but that does not always get everything. Doug From: Pendergraft <russell56443@...> Subject: [ ] My dog's lyme? Guest guest
Thanks , with your pet population I thought you would get back to me. I have been giving her fish oil pills but not consistently enough. I am going to look into the item you suggested. I was also wondering what alternative treatment I could give her if I really determine that it is lyme. Mangosteen? or another alternative treatment that humans use. Guest guest
Doug - This is what I got back from my friend that has been working in a vet clinic for ever.............. What I would do is get some probiotic capsule and put the powder in some dog food - one per day? Hope this helps!! My friends have a dog that tested for lyme and they gave him meds and now he cant hardly walk but they told me - OH NO he was already treated for that.............. give me a break!! Good luck and I hope your dog is doing better soon!! I have some human doxy if you want........ Diane At 45 #'s the dog should take 1---100 mg tablet orally twice daily for 30 days. Sorry, I don't know anything about candida. Maybe you can look it up on the internet and find out some info.----- ________________________________ From: douglas richey <dglsrichey@...> Sent: Tue, December 29, 2009 10:33:36 PM Subject: RE: [ ] My dog's lyme?  , give me a little time and I will come to that website and consider that more deeply for her and maybe for me too. Guest guest
Hi Doug, Good to know.... I hope it goes well. Just make sure you're able to do enough antibiotics to get through about 6 weeks (if it's the first bite), so your dog doesn't get disseminated lyme. I believe doxy is the same for humans and pets.... if you don't get enough from your doc, you can google for doxy w/out prescription, to make sure you have the right amount. There's also a very powerful capsule probiotic - Bio-Kult, that can be used in therapeutic dosing... very effective at getting through the stomach acid, killing systemic candida and rebuilding good gut microflora in humans and I'm thinking it would be just fine for animals. You could go to www.nutrivene.com and check it out.... if you want to ask about dogs, there's a number on there - just ask for Caroline and she wonderful at helping folks. If they ask for a code, just give them CC1. Good luck... I wish I had known this years ago - I had 3 dogs and a cat, all who got lyme. Guest guest
Thanks, Cindi and the probiotic sounds interesting. I see another poster says with a llimited amount of doxy her dog developed significant intestinal problems. I guess my vet will have to help me watch out for that. She is head of NC lyme organ. so ought to know about dog lyme. doug From: Cindi Callanan <cindicallanan@...> Subject: Re: [ ] My dog's lyme?
