these are not my thoughts about the central florida lab, rather my two LLMDs. i

am only a messenger and not qualified to get into the science of these labs and

their methods.

again i said " according to my LLMDs. " i wanted to be tested with this lab as

they accept my insurance--and i'm all about saving $ when possible. both LLMDs i

consult with are against this lab. one doctor didn't explain why, just said no

and that i must be tested elsewhere(igenex). the other doctor said she would NOT

use them and said some other comments. i am only passing on the comments made by

my doctors. these are not my thoughts or feelings, just opinions of my two docs.

i'm wondering if any other docs have said the same thing? i do think if a doctor

is going to run down a lab, they need to back it up with facts. i don't like

when other doctors run down igenex based on rumors. chelsea

If you care to straighten out the misinformation regarding this new lab, which

the doctors can verify with CLIA, then print out what I wrote for them. The

whole labs CLIA approval was weighing on the validity of this test. This is a

very tough approval process.

What I have found is in many cases, of these similar comments, comes from the

view that this new lab is Bowen Lab resurrected. This lab was up and running a

few years before Bowen closed. When Bowen Labs closed the " Bowen Technique " ,

which is a special massage?!? (not sure on correct terminology), rented space

from this lab. In fact, they may have only two lower level employees that went

from Bowen to CFR when it was closed. Central Florida Research is not the Bowen

Lab and the director at CFR never worked for Bowen Labs.

If your doctors are not interested in researching the truth about the

labs...well...what can I say. Ignorance is not bliss.

Thanks-

Torrey

Re: [ ] Re: Dangerous influence regarding labs and testing

According to my Lyme doctors, Igenex is an excellent lab and Fry lab is great

for Bartonella testing as one of my doctors uses Fry Lab for that purpose. My

other doctor uses Medical Diagnostic Labs and Igenex. Both for whatever reasons

don't like the lab in Florida when I asked if I could use that lab because they

take my insurance. They informed me they do not use this lab or trust the testing

methods used and there was no misunderstanding on my part. That's too bad

because central florida lab takes insurance, but since my doctors don't like

that lab, i figure they must have a reason. I wish more good labs had taken

insurance!

Great post! I'll be using this post to assist in my Lyme test quest.

My alternative physician has received the three test kits, Central

Florida Research, Fry Laboratories, and Igenex, that I ordered. Now I

need to figure out which tests to take, then schedule an appointment.

The LLMD appt is 20 Feb 08. That doc likes Fry Laboratories.

Hi Rod.

I see what you're saying but my doctors are firm on this, they won't use the

florida lab, period. I'm ok being tested at Igenex anyway. I would not object to

be tested at the florida lab, but if i don't have a doctor ordering the test

from there because they don't want to, that's the way it goes. If others go to

doctors who test from there, fine, but I would test at Igenex too.

Too bad Igenex doesn't file insurance, but maybe it's that way because no

insurance companies will pay for their tests. I'm paranoid when it comes to

insurance companies and this whole this lyme business. I am more inclined to

trust a lab that does not file insurance as I believe insurance dictates how

these tests are done--the criteria.

It sucks to pay out of pocket but that's life.My doc uses Fry Lab too and the

other LLMD uses MDL in NJ. I might use MDL to test for co-infections.

Happy Holidays,

Chelsea

Many docs do not understand lab testing. Being a long time lab-rat

myself, I've asked docs questions about the labs and or tests being

done. A couple have started out saying " I studied

biochemistry....... " . Then I start up with detailed questions about

what part of the blood are they looking at, what do we hope to

accomplish with this test, what do we do with the results, etc. I

want a flow chart and a business plan. I've never had a doc really

give me any good answers to my detailed questions.

None of us can completely know a topic, which is why I hire docs,

accountants, laboratories, attorneys, etc to help me through troubled

waters.
