Guest guest Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 My doctor a supposed LLMD, told me to expect " Lyme relapses " now that I am done with meds. I was just on Doxy 21 days 100 mg bid. He said that anytime I don't get enough sleep, am stressed or if I get physically overexerted that I'd have a relapse but that does not require meds. I am getting all confused again as what I read does not talk about 'relapses' that are not in need of meds. What I read says more that if symptoms continue it is an active infection that needs more meds. I am having a back and forth thing where I feel 100% normal/well on some numerous days in a row, then after various things (overexertion, not sleeping due to problem i.e. bat flying around in my bedroom at 3am which had to be caught and put outside---that prevents me from sleeping)---then I relapse into having multiple Lyme symptoms mainly extreme fatigue such as needing 11-12 hours of sleep at night and also needing naps and yawning all day long and if I could, feeling the need to be in bed all day sleeping. That goes on with a few other mild symptoms then suddenly one day it is gone and back to normal. This is not acceptable to me to live like this and not know when the next relapse will come. My schedule so far was like this. Day 1-3 off meds Days 4-6 relapse Days 7-8 fine Days 9-13 relapse Days 14-25 (today) feel fine So 8 of the last 25 days was relapse time, 1/3 of the time, not good IMO.. HELP. I seriously am thinking I will need to either call back my LLMD and complain of relapses even though he says to expect them and he already said that he doesn't medicate with AB for Lyme relapses OR I will have to bite the bullet and shell out $800 for a consult with another cash-only LLMD with a waiting list of 3 months. This doctor also said that Lyme is not a malaria like disease that hides out and comes back out to be active again. I am still trying to understand what that meant as it contradicts what other doctors say (in writing). I would love to hear your opinions, the relapse theory-is it falsehood or real---is there literature really talking of " relapse " ? You can email me privately if you wish. THANK YOU. christinemm@...
