Deb, you definitely need to start on the diet ASAP!

I just joined the group this week and am trying to learn all I can about

this. Do you all just go cold turkey? I know I can do it. It is just

getting in the right mental attitude. Just to not have these feelings

any longer would be a blessing. Thank you Deb

Hi Debbie,

Not sure what you mean by " cold turkey " . It's recommended to introduce

the diet foods & supplements gradually while eliminating the candida-feeding

foods, sugars, carbs, bad fats.

Otherwise the body becomes overwhelmed with die-off symptoms &

discouragement sets in. This inclusion/exclusion procedure can take from

weeks to months for some people. I've been working with it for about a month

now & still not eating all the foods & supplements on the diet. But I'm

finding that cravings for sweets, carbs, etc. are greatly reduced by

sticking to foods listed & eating until I'm full or between meals sometimes

when necessary.

Bee just emailed to the group a brief run-down of the basic 4 steps to take.

I'm sure you've seen it & read it by now. She cautions us not to go too fast

into the diet but take our time. It works best that way. I like to remember

the story of the tortoise & the hare.

Blessings,

Caroline

Caroline, thank you. I think I was going to fast. Trying to do it all

at one time. I have to go back and go slow and allow my body to adjust.

Have a great day. Deb

You're welcome. I got into it pretty fast too with the antifungals. I had

been taking garlic right along & then had to cut back & later stop it

altogether because the diet was doing its job so well & so was the coconut

oil I added that I got too many die-off symptoms. I can see why Bee says

just ease into the diet first, mainly working on cutting out sugars, carbs,

etc.

Caroline

==>You will have much less water retention if you start on the drink

I recommend, which is 1/4 tsp. ocean sea salt and the juice of 1/2

lemon in 6 ounces of water 6 times a day (3 with meals to aid

digestion). Good ocean sea salt contains over 84 minerals required

by the body, which are electrolytes, which will help the body

regulate water levels so you are not retaining liquids. Also good

saturated fats are required in order for water to get into the

cells. If you do not have enough you will also retain water. See my

article for an explanation about good saturated fats such as butter,

coconut oil, etc.

>

> A bit of herstory:

paleo for 1 & 1/4 years (pretty much no nuts, seeds & fruit etc -

maybe lapsing once per month). I eat mainly organic free-range etc

eggs, meat (beef, lamb (incl. liver), fish, chicken), low carb veg,

coconut oil, beef fat, onions, garlic, avocado & seaweed.

==>Be careful with seaweed because it is too easy to take too much

iodine which will throw off your thyroid function. A good ocean sea

salt like Celtic contains enough iodine without taking seaweed.

that I> am estrogen dominant. I suspect thyroid & adrenal issues,

that have> improved since eating this way. I think that 38 years of

gluten has> wreaked havoc on my body somewhat.

==>It appears as if you have mineral imbalances which ocean sea salt

will help, as well as enough good saturated fats and proteins. You

might try balancing out calcium and magnesium equally; cramps can be

caused by too much or too little of either of them, and most people

do better on equal ratios, or even more mag. than cal. If you are

taking too much calcium, or getting more in your diet, it would cause

leg cramps too - recheck my article on Essential Supplements required.

==>Most candida sufferers have thyroid and adrenal issues and there

are many helps for them, including dry skin brushing, sea salt and

lemon drink, rebounding on a trampoline, enemas, etc. It is not wise

to treat the thyroid directly because the problem will resolve as you

continue on the candida program when less toxins are being released

by candida. Candida toxins make all cells go rigid so even if your

thyroid is operating fine the hormones are not getting to the cells

where they are needed. The thyroid is not the only organ involved in

regulating temperature and metabolism in the body.

you. If not, get back to us.

Hi Venizia!

I would try doing a cleanse from www.modernmanna.com , as this may help!

Also, prescriptions can have some side effects!!!

Blessings!~

I am confused by this iodine. My endo says iodine is risky. Don't understand

the pros or

the cons of using it. Can you explain? My thyroid has been non-exsistent since

I have

Iodine/iodide used to be used as treatment for hypo/hyper as well as Armour

thyroid. This changed after $inthroid was introduced and definately by 1980.

you will really have to read some of this for yourself. I have not found the

endos to have much info that is accurate--kinda shocking.

Thanks Gracia for the websites. Iodine4health.com is very interesting. So what

type of

doctor do you go to that will prescribe Armour/iodine? Endo's, as you said, are

not into

this Armour/iodine. I do not know where to go from here.

Are you in the medical profession...you seem to know a lot about all this.

In my own experience, an iodine supplement (Kelp) helps out a lot. I have

noticed that as long as I take Kelp everyday I do not have joint pain. I only

notice the joint pain when I am taking everything else but the Kelp.

I am on Synthroid. I talked to my doctor about Armour, but he doesn't like it.

He gave me the option at a later date to go on Armour if my current treatment

stops working, but he's left it up to me. I take one Kelp pill at night, but it

is noticeable when I don't take it. My left hand starts to ache like nothing

else I've felt before. I can stop the meds, and nothing. I also take some

other supplements. If I stop these, nothing. But if I stop the kelp, I

definately feel the difference. This is just me personally and I'm newly

diagnosed. I am trying a holistic approach, including personal hygiene

products. I've gone organic in almost everything. I'm drinking green tea daily

and trying to stay away from the carbs. This is not easy. I think iodine is a

good approach, though.

You need to get some labs drawn. get checked for serum albumin levels. Then

call Dr R with those results.

Focus on getting as much protein as possible!

You may be seriously malabsorbing protein and the symptoms can mimic

congestive heart failure.

Don't wait.go to your PCP and get labs

Thanks to everyone who responded to my post. I wanted to let you all

know that I visited with my doctor yesterday and he ran many tests.

First off, it was the first time back in his office since I had

surgery 6 months ago and they were all amazed at the weight loss (real

nice ego boost). All of my blood levels are within normal ranges, dr

is very happy, but my blood pressure is elevated. I will be going

back frequently to have that monitored and possibly go back on

medications for a while so that I don't damage my heart and blood

vessels. My blood sugar levels went from 225 range with medications

to 95 range without medication.

So with the exception of the elevated blood pressure, I am much

healthier today than I was just 6 months ago-thank you Dr. R!!

Thanks to all for the kick in the pants to get in to see the dr.

> Hi Bee,

> Yes it appears I do have water retention as my legs are quite swollen

although my ankles not so. I have read your article on water retention

and can see that I've had hormonal problems and I would say my adrenals

are whacked. Is there anything else i can do to help this?

i'm not drinking too much water , i'm taking a good amount of Fleur de

sel naturally dried salt which has no additives, i'm eating lots of

butter and coconut oil. I have a quite defined varicious vein in my leg

too and get very cold very quickly. i am doing skin brushing and all

the things reccommended for the adrenals. can I be doing anything else??

==>You are doing everything right Pip. It just takes time for the body

to heal naturally. You could drink stinging nettle tea to help with

the water retention as well, which is a natural diuretic.

Theresa, I have not had your problem, but my book, " Prescription for

Natural Healing " says " if pressing with the fingers on your feet and

ankles results in the formation of small 'pits,' consult your

physician. "

If I were you, and the above does not apply, the book recommends:

1)a diet high in [organic] fiber;

2)for protein, eat [organic] eggs, white fish, chicken or turkey.

Consume small amounts of buttermilk, cottage cheese, kefir, and yogurt,

preferably organic.

3)Use kelp to supply needed minerals, and use sea salt. Morton's table

salt is very bad for your body.

4)Avoid alcohol, caffeine, chocolate, shellfish, white flour, white

sugar, tobacco.

5)Attempt to consume 8 glasses pure water daily. I fill a quart bottle

and chug it down for my health, and attempt to do this four times in the

day, one by 10 a.m., the second by 2 p.m., the third by 6 p.m., and the

last by 10 p.m. This is hard but I usually can get in at least three

quarts. Your body will retain water if it is not getting enough.

More home remedies (that I have not tried but would if I had edema): Lay

down and put your feet up, which allows fluid that has pooled in your

legs to make its way into the circulatory system and then to the kidneys

for excretion. Another I would try: Take B-6, 50-100 mg. twice a day.

And, asparagus and parsley are naturally diuretic. Three or four

spears, or parsley tea (one heaping tsp. dried parsley per cup of

boiling water.

Please try the finger pressing technique first, and contact your doctor

if the indentations stay when you press your skin. It could be

something serious.

Thank you for your advice and help. When I press down on my feet it

usually does not stay. When I lay down at night the swelling

usually goes totally away on me. I do notice if I do not drink

enought water it is worse I think. I will look into the advice that

you have given me and try some ot the suggestions. Thanks for all

your help and advice.

Are you taking any medications? Many medications

create edema, for example Cartia XL used for high

blood pressure, just to name one with which I am

familiar.

I often find that if a person is on a low carb diet

and having water retention, it's often due to too much

salt and not enough potassium.

Duncan's advice on using potassium salts (btw Duncan,

do you have a favorite brand?) and lowering regular

salt and sea salt has helped me.

Also taking potassium supplements.
