Guest guest
Hi Debby; no, I've no favourite Potassium salts. What's convenient here is " NO-Salt " supermarket brand for my food; I don't sprinkle sodium salt at all even to cook with, relying instead on casual exposure in treated food, meat and so on for my sodium. Guest guest
Maggie you could try a fast.. Water comes off quick and puts the candida into dormancy while lowering your blood sugar.. Two very excellent things for killing it off naturally, easily. There are claims of skipping the years of battle with fasting. You go into ketosis which is toxic for the candida and great for your everything. Gives your liver and entire digestive system a serious break. If you are willing. Doesn't mean you don't eat anything... It's not a water fast... You still intake all the probotics etc.. Fiber.. But it works soo much quicker and you get immediate relief. An article Fasting and Candida Candida is an example of a microorganism. It is normally found in the body, but, when the opportunity exists, it takes over and propagates, affecting the colon, vagina or bladder. Much of the harm done by Candida results from its waste product, acetaldehyde, which in turn can affect the neurological, endocrine and immune systems. Few chemicals can create as much havoc in the body as acetaldehydes. Acetaldehydes accumulate in the brain, spinal cord, joints, muscles and poison tissues. For this reason, any program in detoxification needs to address the problem of internal microorganisms. Most microorganisms, including Candida, live on sugar. The more sugar they get, the more they propagate. The problem is that everything turns to sugar except protein, and even juice fasting supplies sugars to the blood. Water fasting is the solution. If they do not get enough sugar, microorganisms become dormant allowing the immune system a much easier time destroying them A restricted juice fast using green leafy vegetables, garlic, carrots, beets and apples will help continue the healing through boosting the immune system. Add fresh ginger root to fruit juices and garlic to the veggie mixtures. A Candida diet will include many salads and veggies combined with supplements and herbs. Most health food stores stock herbal formulas and supplements for parasite reduction such as caprylic acid tablets and molybdenum. If taken at bedtime with water, chopped garlic will not cause any breath odor. Throughout the night, the garlic will slowly release the antibacterial substances into the colon. You can water fast with cayenne pepper and freshly juiced ginger root in an all-out attack against parasites. Longer water fasts are brutal to parasites increasing the factors that make the body an unfriendly environment for growth and reproduction, such as low blood sugar, increased toxins in the blood and an immune system working at full intensity. Guest guest
Thanks for the information, the only trouble is I have low blood pressure, so bad I fall without warning, am disorientated a lot of the time when I stand up, and have already had a broken hip this year because of it. I was tested by a nurse who said my blood pressure was so low it didnt even register. My GP is arranging for me to go to a " falling down clinic. " Dont know how long that will take to get an appoinment as we are talking UK NHS here. Ive been asking for help from GPs for at least 10 years now, to no avail. Ive been falling for past 7 years at least. I also have uterine cancer, which I understand could be caused through fungal infection. Is this right? My consultant oncologist gave me a progesterone implant nearly two years ago, and until then Id never had any infections at all. One of the side effects of this implant is fungal infections. He refused to remove it, and now I have a back injury because of a fall and cannot lie on bed to have it removed. Catch 22 eh? I have an appointment with a herbalist on Tuesday, and am hoping he can do something positive about all of this. Thanks for information. Very informative. Guest guest
Just reading some of the replies; Maggie, you said you don't use much salt. You might want to check out " Your Body's Many Cries for Water " by F. Batmanghelidj, M.D. Edema (swelling) can be caused by NOT ENOUGH SALT in your system; cancer also. He says that " experiments have shown that a number of cancer patients show low salt levels in their body. " He also says, " For every ten glasses of water, one should add to the diet abut half of a teaspoon of salt per day. " I cannot find the kind of salt he recommends in his book but I would only consumer grey sea salt. You may be able to get his book from the library, which is where I first read it, then bought my own.
Guest guest
thanks for that information. I only ever use sea salt, as know about the white table salt. Ive never been able to use salt or pepper or any other condiments. I do however put salt (sea) in water whilst cooking vegetables. Guest guest
You're passing out because your BP is so low? I think you found the cause of your swelling right there. Your BP is not high enough to pump fluid back to your heart. You solve the BP problem, you'll solve the swelling issues. Off the top of my head, electrolight issues, kidney issues, and heart issues can all effect BP. You need to make sure your physician is ruling out all of these problems and more. I don't see how a 'falling clinic' is going to address your medical concerns, unless they specialize in diagnosing and treating syncope (passing out). Good luck, and let us know how this evetually turns out. BT On 8/25/07, maggie taylor <maggie.taylor@...> wrote: > > thanks for that information. Guest guest
Thanks for that information. You are quite correct. It is a Syncope Clinic Ive to ring to get an appointment with. Ive had very low blood pressure all of my life, fainted on a regular basis whilst very young, can remember fainting in assembly at school most mornings. Have asked GPs about this for so long and got nowhere, Id just given up, but the falls Ive had lately have resulted in more injuries to my back and a broken hip just last February and Im still having trouble with mobility. I eat a good diet, am careful what I drink (mostly filtered water), and nothing I do makes any difference. Both of my daughters have low blood pressure too. Guest guest
Too much estrogene in relation to progesterone can cause water retention. Transdermal progesterone cream can help.you only have to be careful that the progesterone does not convert to estrogene, which is possible. It is good to find a doctor that understand that.i am not sure ,you have it in ireland anf if they dare to give it because of the cancer. Guest guest
i read that serum potassium may not reflect body stores? just something to be aware of , just in case. i don't know much about potassium/sodium ratios. do you know why you only have pain in your right hand side? http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/242008-overview Potassium is predominantly an intracellular cation; therefore, serum potassium levels can be a very poor indicator of total body stores. Because potassium moves easily across cell membranes, serum potassium levels reflect movement of potassium between intracellular and extracellular fluid compartments, as well as total body potassium homeostasis. I don't take potassium as it was perfect looking at my blood test results.

Guest guest
Hi all,I've had success getting rid of water retention eating these foods for the past 2 weeks - all high in potassium - an avocado every day, 3 bananas, quinona, loads of spinach, tomatoes, sunflower seeds, dried apricots, raisins, white haricot beans, oats. It's blown the candida diet out of the window but I thought the potassium was more important to get right for now. And they're all tasty foods to eat.Best wishes Alison>> i read that serum potassium may not reflect body stores?
