Guest guest
I have finally got around to reading this site on adrenals/thyroid and I am blown away by it. I am definitely in the adrenal camp. I feel like hugging you. Now, what do I do to get what you are taking. What is it and how does it help. Sorry to ask all this, but I have no time to sit and go through it all. My little one takes up so much of my time, so I am going to ask you a big favour to help me please. You are truly a God send. Love and blessings . Re: water retention > and **all** - regarding monthly cycles that don't quit and also > pigment disorders - both of these can be brought on by adrenal and thyroid > problems. Guest guest
- on the www.modernherbalist.com spot the docs give a great helper called " iso cort " which is what I take - i've had cortisone injections and all that too - and that is what this remedy is for - and also for the adrenals. This medicine has been a HUGE help for me... wendy Re: water retention , THANK YOU for posting this! I have never looked into the adrenal issue before, but this is amazing to me! I have so many of these symptoms...whitening around the mouth, sunken in eyes, insomnia, etc. These problems started around 1996, when I took a massive dose of steroids...Azmacort, Flonaize, Nasalcort, Prednisone, and many, many more. I then developed insomnia and a lack of energy, dizziness, spaciness, and exausting fatique. My doctor said I was " sensitive " to the steroids...right. I've gotten better, but not fully. I am definitely going to look into this! Thanks so much! *** *** --- D & WMcPhail <dwmcphail@...> wrote: > and **all** - regarding monthly cycles that > don't quit and also > pigment disorders - both of these can be brought on > by adrenal and thyroid > problems. Guest guest
It is a misconception to believe that you will Lose weight just because you are being medicated! Everything that I have read or heard says that it is still a difficult road, most ppl (Myself Included) Want a quick fix, but what we all have to understand is the fact that it didn't appear overnight [weight], and it's not going to go away with out WORK!!! Just start slow and work out only 1 day a week if that is all you can manage, if your body feels anything like mine the last thing you want to do is work out! Watch your diet, there are foods that Hypo's should not eat.... Check url's below...... As for the Water Retention, I have heard that this happens on several of the meds for a couple of weeks, but you also have to remember that it takes Water to Purge Water! Drink that water, I try to average a gallon to a gallon and a half a day, and I hate the stuff! Through my reading I have discovered that people who added CLA (Conjugated Linoleac Acid) , L-Tyrosine, & L-Lysine to there diets, taken 1 hour AFTER Amour has increased weight loss and energy. I hope all this helps! I've included a couple links below in regards to weightloss and Hypo! Kathie in Oregon http://www.mercola.com/diet.htm (highly recommend) http://thyroid.about.com/health/thyroid/library/weightloss/blmain.htm Water retention I have been taking Armour now for about 4 weeks and I'm having a huge problem with water retention. Is this from the Armour? I thought I would begin to loose weight once I started taking the medication, but I think I've gained weight due to the water retention. Anybody with experience with this? TIAAmy
Guest guest
Hi Kathie, Thanks for your response. I know that I'm not going to loose overnight and I don't expect that of my body. I have just never had a water retention problem and it is bothering me. I drink lots of water and that is all I drink with the exception of one cup of green tea in the mornings. I also watch what I eat and make healthy choices MOST of the time. I just found Dr. Mercola's website that you listed before I read your response. It has lots of great info! I'm also taking L-lysine and evening primrose. I'll have to check into the others you listed. You are so right that I don't feel like exercising and I know that is part of the missing link. I'm hoping to start feeling well enough to actually get my body in motion. Then maybe I will see some results. Thanks for the links and other info! Guest guest
Hello again! are you seeing an ND or MD? I would seriously talk to the Doc about the retention, see what he/she says.... also wanted to mention that I got a beginners Tai Chi video and will be starting that soon as it's very low impact but good for the energy levels! Talk to you later, Kathie Water retention> > > I have been taking Armour now for about 4 weeks and I'm having a huge > problem with water retention. Is this from the Armour? Guest guest
Hi, I am seeing an MD unfortunately. I hope I don't offend anyone here, but I little faith in the medical community for various reasons. So I reluctantly went this route, because things had gotten so bad for me that I was on the brink of not being able to function. I have a husband, 2 small children (2-1/2 & 5 yrs old) and a demanding job so it was getting pretty scary. I guess I need to call her about the water retention, but I wish I could just figure it out on my own. Good luck on the Tai Chi. Let me know how it goes. I need to look into something I can do. At this point, once my children are in bed all I have enregy to do is take a bath and go to bed myself. I hope that changes soon. My husband is working nights right now so he's not much help during the week. Hopefully that will change soon as well. Guest guest
Amy, I am not on Armour, but I imagine any medication has side effects and they effect everyone differently. I would call the dr. or call a pharmacist and ask if water retention is a side effect. I looked Armour up in my Mosby's drug reference and it doesn't say that water retention is a side effect. But, like I say, all medicines/herbs effect different people differently. Also, you can buy teas that may help you with water retention. They are detox teas. They have herbs for water retention in them, (dandelion, etc.) Happy Springtime!! Love, Reneé and Jerry

Guest guest
Amy, I used to have a bit of a water retention problem. I found that herbal diuretic tea worked nicely. Traditional Medicinals makes a good one. You should be able to get it at the health food store.Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. Guest guest
Because they themselves don't know! I'm really disheartened as to How lightly they take thyroid disorders, considering the fact that it affects ever other gland and body function and with out treatment can have lasting debilitating effects.... Guest guest
Amy: B6 is also an excellent diuretic. 500 to 1500mg/day. Guest guest
considering the fact that it affects ever other gland and body function and with out treatment can have lasting debilitating effects.... How 'bout it!!!!! This is what I've been yelling for 3 yrs now! Not to mention what it does to your home life and family who are trying to cope with you. Wonder how many people have lost marriages and/or friendships from it too. I am POSITIVE, the T-shirt that says "Next mood swing......5 minutes" was a person with thyroid disease!! Guest guest
B6 is also an excellent diuretic. 500 to 1500mg/day. There's another thing I don't know. How much of stuff to take. I use the one a day for active people with double the amount of all the B's so far. Since that was premeasured in a bottle for me and says one a day though.....I think I'm not taking too much to hurt myself. Better be anyway. I have someone to sue it not at least! LOL If I overdose myself, I'm up the creek (without a paddle) . Hannah

Guest guest
I had the same problem. It went away when I changed my diet to a gluten and casein free diet. I have coeliac disease, and I've been told that this is likely what caused my hypothyroidism. I don't know if this helps anyone. Guest guest
Yes, when I take in too much sodium. My fingers swell to the point I have to remove my rings, as do my ankles and feet. I stay away from salty snacks and do not salt any food and the swelling goes down. Happy Holidays, Debbie > Does anyone have bloating and swelling in fingers, etc.? with > medications? Any solutions?
