Guest guest
yeah I have the numbing aswell. I have it on the outside part of my left leg above the knee. I haven't found anything that helps yet. but I've been meaning to ask my doctor about things that help it. If I find something I'll let you know. Guest guest
My legs are very painful ...mostly my knees and ankles but I do have the numbing sensation you speak of. The only thing that I use to rub my legs which does seem to help because I think it increases circulation (nothing medicinal) is a massage lotion called soma silk. You get get it at massagewarehouse.com ....put it in small jars and always keep it with you. Kat
Guest guest
Your two cents is always worth at least a dime to me ;-) !!! I know exactly what you mean. My left leg does the same. I couldn't go to the boardwalk with my kids and my grandaughter last summer because I was afraid of falling. My doc has since given me an order for a small wheelchair. I have not used it yet. I'm still fighting like a junkyard dog ! If I walk on tippy toes , I seem to be ok ! Its inspiring to know that once this doxy and cats claw and all the rest start to do some work that some of these symptoms may subside ! I will continue to hang tough ! When my son was doing his tour in Iraq last year, I wrote every day and told him to HANG TOUGH ....if he could do it so can I ! Thanks ...I love to hear encouraging words. Guest guest
Hi Kat! Thought I would add my 2 cents. When my LD was not under control I had to use those motorized carts at Wal-Mart to get around because of the pain. Also - when walking one leg would suddenly become paralized for an instant and I would have no control of it - very scary. The various symptoms will subside once you start getting LD under control. Hang in there gal. > > My legs are very painful ...mostly my knees and ankles but I do have the > numbing sensation you speak of. Guest guest
---epidural? I just had one yesterday. I have some sciatic like stuff going on and minor degeneration in the sacral area. It really is the Fibro flaring everything up. If I did not have Fibro, I doubt the other problems would cause pain. Guest guest
What is it with the outside part of left leg numbness?? That was one of my symptoms that was iffy from 2001, supposedly I have only had lyme 6 months but had many many symptoms previously. Mine was about 6 inches above my knee, entire leg actually was numb and then went to the thigh, lasted maybe 3 months?? I blamed it on a pinched nerve but was when I was redoing landscaping in our yard which is where and when I would have gotten lyme or a tick bourne illness in 2000 or 2001. > anyone else with a numbing sensation in the leg above the knee? > > What helps?? Guest guest
and all those who have this symptom. As I have told you I also have this symptom. My doc says its just neurological symptoms from the lyme. I hate to post this but ah what the hell, I've also had trouble starting to urinate. It feels as though the entire lower half of me sometimes is so numb that I don't feel much of anything ......except of course ..PAIN. Very strange ! Once I get going I'm alright , but I have to run water and REALLY concentrate some times. This is very frightening to me. It DOES remind me of ALS symptoms and though I don't want lyme EITHER ....I just feel so deeply sorry for anyone who contracts ALS. I just cannot imagine in my wildest dreams what that must feel like. Emotionally and physically its just gotta be the worst diagnosis to hear. I won't lie ...at times like this when I have that numbness I wonder about misdiagnosis. But ...again, that's the nurse in me. Horrible patients ..always wanting to make their OWN diagnosis. A little bit of knowledge can be dangerous they say ! I hope everyone is having a nice weekend. I'm just hanging out playing with ebay ! Guest guest
Not sure Rose, but I take nystatin, acidophilus, yogurt by the quart. I have to symptoms of oral thrush and no yeast infection 'there' ; 0 When my tummy was all blown up I do believe that it was yeast ..but after that really bad herx and lots of probiotics that too went away. I don't think yeast has anything to do with the numbness and the difficulty getting the stream started ;-) heehee !

I have exactly the same in my left foot ...I walk on tippy toes ....its a symptom of lyme !!! AND ...she recently put me on lasix for the swollen ankles ....and I am not a 'big' girl, but for some reason the ankles are swollen and the left heel kills ...the pain meds help but only for a short time. My doctor is very understanding about the pain of this disease. Her husband passed away from complications of lyme. Therefore she is never judging and has become pain management certified. She never lets us be in pain. I thank God for that and her.

For my wrists and hands, the doctor had me fitted for hand braces and called it carpal tunnel syndrome...and just told me to sleep with the hand braces each night. I know my husband must love me a lot because I look like the bride of frankenstein when I go to bed at night! I also have sleep apnea (so does he) so I have this face mask and then both hands in braces....yep....MUST be love! Dawn
Guest guest
Kat Do you think yeast could be part of the problem? Have you read the books by G Crook MD about yeast- there's several. Yeast can create all sorts of problems just on it's own and it's definitely an opportunistic thing. Rose Marie > > and all those who have this symptom. > As I have told you I also have this symptom. Guest guest
Neuropathy, numbness and pain are what led to my diagnosis. My back involvement is not significant but the leg problems are life altering. I am on medication and that does control but not stop the pain. I am on Zonagran 100mg q.i.d.. I stumble, shuffle and have balance problems. I am told this is not reversable and will probably escalate as time goes by. I am 63 and still working. I did have knee replacement six months ago and have had much more back pain since then perhaps due to being unable to sleep in my normal position. I can't do pain medication so I use OTC's (advil, tylanol) and also meditation and self hypnosis (yes they help). These golden years aren't looking all that great right now!Jan BI am never lost, I just take alternative routes to my destination.
Guest guest
Thanks to everyone on their input on my numbness issues. I had hoped to just mindlessly ignore it but you have all convinced me that I must do otherwise. I do shffle and stumble also but as I have been clumsy my entire life, that was not a great change! I now have an appointment with a neurosurgeon.Jan B <banicki@...> wrote: Neuropathy, numbness and pain are what led to my diagnosis. Guest guest
Joe, I'd look for a fibular head sublux ..... the peronial nerve may be the culprit. If the foot is involved, the styloid could be dysfunctioning the full lower chain and would be anothr indication of that pathway. She had been experiencing some generalized knee soreness. She bent down to pick up some blankets and heard a loud pop in the knee. Her entire lower leg went numb and has been since the incident (end of December). Knee testing was normal for stability and xray of knee proved unremarkable. The numbness of lower leg which also involves entire foot does not follow a dermatome. It’s the entire thing! Patellar reflex absent with reinforcement on that side, achilles normal. Some strength of that limb is reduced, particularily in hip flexion, knee flexion, toe walk, heel walk, squat test. She has some moderate gluteus pain on the same side that she describes as inexplicable bruise pain, but NO low back pain. She is an out of pocket patient and is reluctant to drop the coin on an MRI. Any ideas? We’re treating as potential disc injury with n. root compression, but it looks different than any that I’ve seen. ph Medlin D.C.
