Guest guest
I also have insurance through my husbands company. It's BCBS and they have been great. I have Medicare as secondary and I haven't had any problems with either one. We get our prescriptions through someone else. Guest guest
Sandy--I have BCBS gov. The insuarance payed 75% for my 1g Rocephin PICC line treatment for 28 days with a preferred provider. They will not pay with a doctor outside the system. The expense was prohibitive and that is why the doctor will not agree to doing any more for me as the insuarance would not pay. His reasons: ONLY 28 days with Rocephin is sciantifically justified. Good Luck -- Lida > > I also have insurance through my husbands company. It's BCBS and > they have been great. Guest guest
Wow, my BCBS has covered everything so far. I can go to doctors outside the system, I just have to pay more out of pocket, but they still cover most of it. Kathy > Sandy--I have BCBS gov. Guest guest
Hi Sandy, Oh, how I wish we still had BCBS! They were great. In fact, my office visits out of network were actually cheaper than a regular copay in network. I think they paid 80% of all the tests run through IGenex Labs. I didn't have to have IV lines, so I don't know about that. Good luck! Dona
Guest guest
Dear Sandy, My experience with Blue Cross/Blues Shield of Massachusetts was fine. I wish I still had it as my insurer. My first insurance is Medicare (covers 80%) and I had the Blue Cross Medex plan, which covered the other 20%, plus prescriptions. This summer I wasn't able to bring in enough income to keep paying the $500 monthly premiums so they dropped me. Now I have Medicare and MassHealth(Medicaid). The MassHealth stinks in terms of prescriptions. Blue Cross nor Medicare denied anything having to do with Lyme treatment. They also cover almost every test that more progressive doctors were ordering, like saliva and urine tests for hormones, neurotransmitter tests, and the like. Since I've been on Medicaid, I haven't yet had a doctor order any tests like that, but it's time to start focusing more on my health again and I'm looking to do more investigating and treating. I'm a little nervous about what Medicaid will do. But I guess, now that I think about it, that Medicare might actually cover 100% on the tests. Brain fog! Unless you're under some sort of HMO system, you can go to any sort of doctor you choose under Medicare and Blue Cross/BS Medex. Guest guest
Hi Sandy: Blue Cross/Blue Shield coverages vary widely across employers. It depends on how much the employer is willing to contribute. Read your information packet carefully and look for excluded conditions and medications. I currently have Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield with Great Western Annunities for retirement/deferred compensation. When I signed on, I made sure that I purchased the " cadillac plan " with full medical, dental, prescription, and vision coverage. If you have an option to choose " tiers " of coverage, I would recommend getting the most coverage you can afford. Personally, I have had very good luck with BC/BS and my prescription plan (Medco). All of my meds so far have been covered and I've had no problem getting approval for scripts. The only medication not covered at the pharmacy that I've run across are pure cholestyramine from a compounding pharmacy and Provigil. I was able to submit the bill for the cholestyramine and get partial reimbursement. My doc has been able to supply me with samples of Provigil. Your plan sounds different from mine though, as BC/BS is your prescription carrier as well. As far as going to mexico for meds, I personally would try to avoid it, as regulations are more lax. I would be worried about whether I was really getting what I ordered. Others may have very different opinions.
