Guest guest Posted October 16, 2004 Report Posted October 16, 2004 (Sorry if my recent messages are duplicated - for some reason, they are not posting - or - the messages are taking over 15 hours to post??) Hi Group...First things first - I received my Igenex results this afternoon: IGM - 5 positive (23,24,25,41,66); 4 equivocal (30,39,45,58) IGG - 4 positive (18,34,41,45); 5 equivocal (30,31,39,58,66) Although I now know via testing that I'm Lyme positive, in addition to being nervous about this, I'm also relieved and grateful to finally find out what has been ailing me for 3+ years, and I can finally get on the road to recovery. I have an appointment Monday morning with the head of Infectious Diseases with my health plan - I'm now equipped with 3+ years of history in my folder, plus my Igenex results. I also made an appointment with the Alternative doctor (oncologist) who did my Igenex test - he also treats Lyme. Depending on how things turn out with my health plan, I also have an out of town LLMD to contact. I'd like to thank the group for putting me on the right course - first, by choosing to get an Igenex WB (I don't even mind paying for it out of my own pocket), and second, for convincing me that I need to find the right doctor to treat this. I also need to let go of the anger I have for being misdiagnosed repeatedly over the past 3+ years - especially one of my ex-doctors who tried to put me on tranquilizers because he said " I was under stress - not sick with anything physical " . I plan to contact the medical group - including my current PCP - and let them know that they better start listening to their patients, and that a Lyme diagnosis is more than just a blood test - it's a clinical diagnosis. One more thing - I've had a weird symptom off-and-on for the past few years. I don't know if it's Lyme related, but I thought I'd bring it up and see if anyone else has this or knows anything about it. I've had it for the past 2 days - that's why I remembered it. For the past few years, maybe 4 or 5 times per year, I've had an intense hot pain in my groin area, front & back thighs, and buttocks. Clothing or bedding rubbing against the affected areas make the pain worse. I have a pretty high tolerance to pain, but I'd classify this as a 6 on a scale of 10. The pain is almost constant, and it actually hurts worse when you touch the skin that's affected. There are no marks or redness of any kind - you wouldn't know I had anything just by looking at it. After about 1 or 2 days of this pain, it just disappears - and I usually forget about it until it starts again. Over the past 3+ years, I've been on antibiotics at least 10 or more times - I'm now wondering if this pain comes around when I finish a course of antibiotics? I just finished some doxycycline. Could the burning pain be a result of the antibiotics stirring up the Lyme bacteria? What a long, strange trip it's been...Tom Quote
