Guest guest
To Robyn in So. Carolina - If your new doc has questions, why not have him contact Dr. Jemsek in Charlotte, N. Carolina?? He's supposed to know what's going on and be up to date on the latest. He knows Dr. Harvey well and since Dr. H (Houston) has some new research results, be sure he calls him and asks about the importance of evaluating you for and then treating Babesia as a coinfection. Good luck. I think you've very likely struck gold!!! Elaine
Guest guest
My doc is the same way---knows all about Lyme and Fibromyalgia. I went from doctor to doctor to treat the symptoms I had along the way after infected, but when I was just plain old hurting and exhausted I had trouble finding a doctor who could handle that or even relate it to Lyme. Finally I found one---just when I was getting ready to check myself into a nursing home. Ed Metzger <metz712004@...> wrote: Hi, I really hope that this Dr. works out for you.. As for the Fibro---I have a Fibro doc here in Ohio--he even has it himself and has written many books on it. When I went to him for an appt. after I figured out I have Lyme he said-casually (as if it is a known fact.) Lyme can cause fibromyalgia. Boy was I shocked to hear a Dr. here in Ohio that knows anything about Lyme. Hope you begin to see progress. I've been living here in SC for 2 yrs now with basically no medical care. Not for what our bodies harbor anyway. Yesterday I made an appoinment with a local DO here and swore he was my last doctor visit. if it didn't work out that was it I was finished and I'll just let these diseases over take me and it will finally be all over eventually. I am sick to death of going from doctor to doctor around here. I've been through this 13 yrs ago and I " ve pretty much had it. So, I had a small talk with the " Big Man " upstairs last night yet again and told him if this app didn't work today whenever he was ready to take me home I was ready to go. At 9 am I arrived at yet another medical office in Myrtle Beach waiting to see a doctor I knew pretty much nothing of or had ever laid eyes on. After much paper work and approx a half hours wait in walks what looks like Doogie Howser (for those of you old enough to remember that TV show) only a lot taller. In my mind I thought hmm Ok He's real young and I'm SURE noone has told him about tbi's so this should be a quick visit and a waste of gas. We began to talk and I started to explaine to him my history of TBI's and complications and I said so that brings us to this. Before we go further I need for you to tell me which side of the issue you're on? He said I didn t realize there was a side I said well there is, you're either on the side that does or the side that doesn't. His answer? " well if you are asking me if there is chronic lyme disease and can it cause all these issue's then I guess I " m on the side that DOES, I " m from South New Jersey " and I thought Well blow me down! The Good Lord comes through again! So this very young but VERY open minded doctor would like to see Dr B's treatment guidelines, has set me up for heart testing , has given me something to try and tame my heart burn and hope it helps with the swallowing issue, has given me a mild antidepressant to try and help with the massive PMS I get and has decided he would like to try me on Doxycycline or Minocycline but wants to get my tummy under control first as well as make sure my heart is OK. He asked me what I expected from him, I said well I don t expect a cure because I have come to terms with knowing I will probably never be cured. I said can I be better? I'd like to think so I said so from you I expect you to work WITH me that we work together and if there's something we don't agree on we can atleast come to a compromise. He said, done " I said well sounds like we'll be OK then. All in all this was a VERY good and FIRST positive doctor appointment I have had here since moving here 2 yrs ago. He also agree'd with me that the Rheumy I was seeing, her BS diagnosis of Fibro causing all my issue's was just that. BS. I told him firbo is NOT a disease in an of itself. Something CAUSES these symptoms to which he fully and whole heartedly agree'd with. If you're reading this and you're a praying person can I please ask that you remember me and this doctor in your prayers and that this works out for the best for me because if it doesn't I have decided with no turning back that I am completely and 100% finished with physicians at this point...Its been 14 LONG years this comming Dec and I " m just about at the end of my rope. Also, if there are any other south carolina sufferers here on the list and you need a good doctor, I will ask him if I can refer him to you. Just email me off the list and I " ll hold onto you're email addy's and if he says it's OK I'll send you all his info. Robyn In SC
