Pat,I would thank God for the person he has made to be and then I would graciously allow to do this for you and your family. It will be a blessing for him to make it possible for others to help you through the financial part. There are a lot of good people that do want to help. Some of us can only give prayers but there are some that can help with finances and if it is a fund raiser then you are fortunate that someone cares enough to try to do it for you.Allowing to do this for you gives him a blessing and you one too. Happy Valentines and hope you are doing as well as you can.Sandy in Tex

Dear Pat,

What a kind gesture! I don't know if the money needs to be designated to a special fund, tax liability, etc. but your friend has probably checked into it.

My co-workers did several fund raisers the year I got sick. They even let the families at the school help by providing items for gift baskets to be raffled off. It was more than the money (which was very helpful) but I just cried because even people I hardly knew were helping. One friend told me that the whole thing brought the staff together during a difficult year with a new principal and put a smile and some pep into everyone. It was something I'll never forget.

People give money all of the time to causes and situations that they have no personal involvement in, it's even more meaningful to share with someone that has some connection. Accept the gesture with the warm intentions it comes with, he wouldn't do it if he didn't want too. People want to help and this is what he can do. It's important to accept kindnesses from others. Someday you'll have an opportunity to pass the kindness on!
