Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I wrote a couple weeks ago about starting LDN at 4.5, thinking this was a high starting amount for me, with Hashi's. I decided to begin at 1.5 rather than the Rx'd 4.5 I did very well the first week on 1.5, I slept wonderfully. By the third day of LDN, I could actually feel it working about an hour after I'd take it, I read in bed before sleep. I would feel a rush of coolness that seemed to enter my brain, like a cool spray. It sounds odd, but it was comforting, not scary for me. Then I'd sleep. I had good energy for the week. Less muscle pain. I did feel that my thyroid meds were being challenged, as if the balance of thyroid and LDN were battling. I suffer with major itching when my thyroid meds are not optimal, or unbalanced. The itching came on strong this week. I also lost seven pounds. I know most was water, LDN seemed to help me rid the water, plus I had no real appetite. I've been trying to lose weight for two years, lowering my diet by 500 calories a day for 763 days!!! I never lost a single pound. Then I lose seven in one week, pretty amazing. OK, so I call the pharmacy and tell them I'm doing pretty well on the LDN 1.5, no side effects that are bothersome and they suggest moving right on up to 3.0 after one week. So, two days on 3.0 and I'm a mess! Help! I know there are few of us with Hashimoto's disease in this group, but if anyone has experience and advice to offer, I'd like to hear from you. I take 3 grains of Naturethroid, half in the morning, half in the afternoon. Also take 15 mcgs of compounded T3 every twelve hours. I was aware, from reading and also a post to me from another member, that LDN can cause the need for a thyroid med decrease. Today, I took my Naturethroid in the morning, my heart pounded strong all day. I did not take my T3 at all today. I took my afternoon Naturethroid and again, felt the heart pounding and exhausted. At one point I just laid down, I could not sleep, but was too tired to get into anything. I also got such bad pain in my right hand. I had no idea where this came from. It was all the sudden, as if a car had run over it, no kidding. My hand is perfectly fine right now. In fact, I feel pretty well. It's been a few hours since I got up to move around and make dinner. I felt very dizzy at first, but the more I moved the better I was, could feel the pain in my hand leaving and the muscle tension slipping away. I'm guessing my adrenals are yelling, but I'm not sure what to do about it. I just got results back two weeks ago from cortisol testing that revealed my cortisol is fine, maybe a bit low, but not a real concern. So, I'm thinking the LDN, or the thyroid meds have caused a fire in me that needs some tending to. My question is, should I go back to the 1.5 LDN? My increase two days ago was in the hopes that I could crush out the itching. I truly feel this itch comes on from the Hashi's antibodies attacks and that I have to raise medication to fight them back. If I raise thyroid meds the itching will stop within three days, however, I certainly do not want to raise the thyroid at this point. So, do I lower the thyroid meds (Naturethroid) dosage, or should I keep taking that and lower the T3 dosage of 30 mcg's per day, or should I cut back on the LDN?? Help! I'm more interested in what LDN users might think about my situation than my doc at this point. My doc wanted me to start out on 4.5 and I can't begin to imagine how I'd feel on that high of a dosage. I did ask my doc if I could cut back on my thyroid meds if I felt overmedicated at any point and he said that would be correct. So, I feel like I'm always on my own with the drugs, I just pay him to get my hands on them. Advice please? ~~
