Guest guest
A superbug is one that is resistant to antibiotics. Bacteria share genetic information through conjugation in which a tube grows between two bacteria and nuclear material passes back and forth through the tube. Hence, different species of bacteria can share genetic material and this is how resistance to antibiotics can get passed on. Lyme bacteria's defense against bacteria is to morph into other forms (cell wall deficient and cyst) to wait for the hostile environment to pass. Could Lyme get resistance from other bacteria through conjugation? That I don't know. As for starving yourself of magnesium, this to me makes no sense. The Marshall Protocol believes one should avoid Vit D to starve the Lyme of that. If these nutrients are essential to our bodily functions, how can starving one's self help us? Seems it would do more damage. The trick is to get enough for the body and the bugs. Of course this is simply my conjecture. deb
Guest guest
A. I eat protein all day long. I take digestive enzymes twice a day to make sure it gets broke down correctly. B. A superbug usually refers to a pathogen that has mutated and has become resistant to treatments, such as antibiotics. Each pathogen has it's vulnerability. If one can't kill it with antibiotics, there are homeopathic choices, herbal choices, and more. One can also just directly boost the immune system, which will lead to more white blood cells to kill the superbug. It takes a strategy for many of us. It is commonly stated that taking antibiotics often in childhood is a sign that the immune system was not working correctly. It is believed by some of the " better " docs that when one gets problems from the overuse of antibiotics, that yeast overgrew and attracted mercury from this excess antibiotic use, as well as other problems. This overgrowth of yeast can be pervasive, into organs, the scalp, etc. Thus, it can be difficult to reverse this problem. C. Once your immune system is suppressed, you will stock-pile many different pathogens. It's a strategy: testing for some, boosting immunity, detoxing, boosting nutrition, etc. Most of the alternative treatments work on several pathogens and pathogen types, so you don't have to know all your pathogens, and it really is impossible to know. D. I don't eat at any restaurant chains, without regretting it. I mostly eat at what they refer to as " Mom and Pop " restaurants. These are restaurants owned by local people, not chains, and they usually serve real food. E. I think Arsenic is the main biofilm mineral. We supplement magnesium, but I would not want to supplement it without also taking something to kill Lyme, just in case it will feed it. Some theorize that the Lyme will come out of cyst form to consume the magnesium, which would make the Lyme more vulnerable to be killed. Magnesium is very helpful to reduce symptoms, so it is difficult to not supplement it for many. I get my information from the www.LIAFoundation.org website. Love and prayers, Heidi N HI All, I'm Tom from Atlanta and sporadically visit the group, bu find it the most informative and educated of all I have read. I believe it was someone in the group who pointed out that....if you have a very impaired immune system, than you may have a hard time getting reliable test results, because most tests are looking for antibodies, and antibodies are produced by the immune system. A lot of people have immune systems that have lost some ablity to fight back (hopefully temporarily) .. That, combined with some very difficult biofilms, would make bad bugs hard to pick up. But you as the sick person know its there...no doubt about it. I think we are years behind in testing ability. So a few questions if anyone has the time to answer..... A. What are some of the ways you get protein in you without feeding bad bugs? B. What is the difference between " superbugs " and Lyme? I had lots of ABX as a child and I think I have superbugs vs Lyme. Did a lot of you in here have ear infections as a child and been given lots of ABX? I think that set me up for years and years of fragility. C. If you know you have bad bugs running your show, is it worth tesing to differentiate them? Dr Gordon indicates that it may not be worth it.....just get on with treatment. D. What restaurant chains do you trust? E. I had been a fan of magnesium, but am reading research that magnesium is one of the big requirements for bad bugs to build its biofilm. calcium was another. I know magnesium has an exalted status in health circles, but could it be harmful here?
Guest guest
Hi Tom, I too visit this group, but I don't post often. I will answer some of your questions. A super bug is any type of bug that gets resistant to certain antibiotics. Lyme is a particular organism. It can become resistant to antibiotics as well. It can morph into different forms(cyst, etc). I find the best approach to this is to continually rotate your antimicrobials(whether herbal or traditional antibiotics). Although I do herbal and homeopathic meds, I have to be on antibiotics as well. If I don't I get horrifically sick. I found a new protocol that my Lyme doctor has approved. It is actually a protocol that a microbiologist devised for his wife that had MS. She was positive for Chlamydia pneumonia. Chlamydia pneumonia is a very difficult infection to treat. It reacts much like lyme does. It can morph into different forms like lyme. This protocol uses doxy daily. It then adds in low dose zithro 3 days a week. It continues to add flagyl or alinia a few times a month. This protocol addresses all the forms of both lyme, but it does it gradually. It is not a heavy handed approach. As for protein intake, years ago I read about some protocol that forbids protein after 3PM. I think it came from Dr. Rau(not sure). I do know that I read it from a Marco Pharma(homeopathic/herbal company) protocol. I think it was referring to the treatment of parasites, but I do believe it has much to offer with other organisms. As for magnesium, it is rather like a catch 22. For me, if I don't take mag I get serious heart disturbance. I was so bad at one point that my husband had to give me mag shots daily. I am now down to 3 times a week. I do take oral mag, but I am looking for an alternative. Dr. Klinghardt is against oral mag. He thinks it feeds the bugs. I have not found a brand of topical mag that I like yet. There are mag oils and creams out there that can bypass the digestive system. Transdermal mag does not feed the biofilms. As a result of Lyme I have 's disease(my adrenals don't work). It makes it very difficult for me to test positive to anything. I did have a few bands positive on an Igenex test. The more LLMD's that I speak with say that Lyme is a clinical diagnosis. Lyme is so good at avoiding detection(especially when it has been in your system for a long time) that the tests are really inaccurate. I would treat on the basis of symptoms. I can't tell you about restaurants. I do not eat out at all. I hope some of this was helpful. Have a great day. Peggy P.S. Maximize your vitamin d levels. It helps to fight infection. Guest guest
> Hence, > different species of bacteria can share genetic material and this is how > resistance to antibiotics can get passed on. other ways of sharing information are far more important for this. AB resistance genes can be shared through plasmids (Bb has the most plasmids of any known organism) or through prophages (a bacterial virus, Bb has at least two of them). > Lyme bacteria's defense against bacteria is to morph into other forms (cell > wall deficient and cyst) to wait for the hostile environment to pass. Could > Lyme get resistance from other bacteria through conjugation? That I don't > know. yes, Bb can get resistance info from other Bb or complete different types of bacteria. But this is supposed to be unimportant, at least within the patient during treatment. Aquiring AB resistance during ABX treatment has never been proven for Bb (for other, much faster replicating bugs this is a serious risk). The survival forms (cyst, CWD, granules, biofilm etc.) probably offer sufficient protection against most types of ABX. > As for starving yourself of magnesium, this to me makes no sense. Not a good idea. It may help to keep a low glucose / low carb diet though, because they can readily use these types of energy (only very simple carbs).
