Guest guest
***This message contains graphic anatomical/physiological info, but it is directly related to the original post.*** 1) Since the vaginal tissue, vulva, and cervix are so porous (think lots of micro-holes like a sponge), a woman has a better chance of absorbing bacteria and viruses than a man.The bacteria in pre-ejaculate and semen have have lots of places to enter through a woman's sexual organs. 2) A man could have bacteria and viruses enter through his urethra, but, since fluid is coming out of his urethra during sex, bacteria/viruses from a woman tend to get pushed out of the penis (tend to, but can still get in). 3) So there is the difference, things are generally goinginto a woman and things are generally coming out of a man. That explains why a woman has a greater chance of getting infected, generally. 4) If a man has micro-tears on his penis or on any skin that is in contact with a woman's vaginal fluids, bacteria/viruses can get in through the tears. Same for a woman, if she has micro-tears on any skin that is in contact with a man's semen, bacteria/viruses can get in through the tears. 5) I do not know the size of Lyme bacteria (and related bacteria), so I cannot say how easy it is for those types of bacteria to pass through the delicate skin of the sexual organs. 6) I do not know how long Lyme bacteria (and related bacteria) live on surfaces. 7) Cuts are easy to see/feel, micro-tears are not. 8) The point here is to use UNIVERSAL PRECAUTIONS. I have outlined the facts, but some facts about passing Lyme during sex are still unknown. So, it is safest to use protection each and every time and to clean up immediately after. As far as I know I have never contracted these diseases in the 3 years she has had them. We do not use any protection. Women on the other hand seem more susceptible to catching things from men. Especially if their immune system is compromised via Lyme. www.lyme-resource.com You can lead a person to a fact, but you can't make them think! - > [ ] Very personal question regarding intimacy > > > Bright Blessings Everyone > > I have a personal quqestion and my apologies in advance for > anyone taking offense. Borrelia has a size of about 0.3 by 20-30 micrometers. compared to other bacteria it is very thin and very long. We know that other spirochetes like Treponema (syphilis) can cross mucosa or slightly damaged skin. Some other Borrelia species (not the ones causing lyme) are known to cross intact skin. It is often said that Bb infection through skin is not possible, but I would not be so sure judging from how some of its close relatives behave. > 7) Cuts are easy to see/feel, micro-tears are not. yes, I think micro-tears is a risk factor. > 8) The point here is to use UNIVERSAL PRECAUTIONS. BTW, with 'very low risk' I don't mean that people shouldn't be careful. But it is good to see things in the right perspective. As others have mentioned, other sexually transmitted diseases are a far bigger risk factor nowadays.
