Guest guest
Dr. Cowden spoke about his protocol on a teleseminar (through www.lymehope.com) last week. He mentioned the combination of samento and banderol from Nutramedix. Per my notes, he did state that this combination kills Bb in all its forms, including biofilm. However, he also said that these two alone are not sufficient - that anti-inflammatories, detox, and drainage are essential as well. deb > > i was wondering if you had read the Townsend Letter that had all the recent > info on samento and banderol? from what i recall it states that this > combination kills all the forms of lyme > danielle > > >

FWIW, the Townsend Letter is not a scientific publication (some people think it is). It sometimes has interesting opinions, but some plainly wrong info as well. This article is not peer-reviewed and it has some suggestions that are wrong IMHO. Sapi does interesting research, but I have seen some other dubious claims from her (language problem maybe?). There are some important limitations to this study: these are in vitro studies, with limited relevance for in vivo (in the patient). E.g. erythromycin works very well against Bb in vitro, but is totally ineffective in vivo. They only tested one Bb strain; we know that ABX resistance varies strongly between different Bb strains, the same might apply to some herbs. They say samento is a natural antimicrobial, but I doubt that statement. It is not a 'killer', it works mostly through our immune system. It is a bit weird that it would kill in the testtube. I'm not familiar with banderol so won't comment on that. I think it is interesting research, not as 'fact' because there are too many questions, but as a starting point for more research into alternatives for ABX. Guest guest
I only used it for a short time (1-2 months) before my new doctor put me on A-BAB so I couldn't say for sure about improvement, but I did herx alot and I had an easier time with the tinctures than using the whole herbs. Less intestinal trouble. And I did improve, but I've been improving all along so it's hard to say. Guest guest
" Has anybody tried Samento/Banderol and seen significant, repeat significant healing? " I took them for about 10 weeks. It was amazing how well I felt and how fast it worked for me. It was like I had been dead and I came back to life. My mind cleared up and my energy was coming back. I did things I hadn't done in 12 years. (I've had Lyme for about 30 years.) I was going through my house and cleaning up stuff that hadn't been cleaned in years. I was like a real person again. Then after about a month I had to do a lot of hard outside work one day and it was like a miracle that I had so much energy and stamina. I worked for several hours without getting tired. I was so happy about it. Later that evening I was getting very drained so I lay down for a couple hours. I was still fatigued when I woke up but I had really put in a good days work. The next day after that I wasn't feeling as great as I had been but I knew I had overdone it the previous day so I took it easy. Each day after that I started getting a little worse. I kept taking the herbs and figured I was herxing from all the activity. I still kept getting worse. I started to get very concerned and angry that I wasn't able to get back to feeling good again. It's been 6 weeks since that wonderful day and I haven't been able to get it back. I feel like I've sunk into a hole again and I don't know what to do. I'm back to my Lyme life again trying to get through each day with no energy no money and constantly on the search for what will help. I have no idea what happened that day or what to do about it. One thing that has remained is that I'm sleeping better than I was and my dreams are better. I had bad dreams for 25 years. I've gotten so discouraged that I've stopped taking the Banderol for awhile and I'm only taking the Cats Claw now. I'm in a space of being overwhelmed where I just don't want to think about it for awhile. Guest guest
> interesting experience ... I have heard a few similar stories from people trying other herbs or antibiotics. I doubt the temporary benefit is caused because it quickly killed the lyme bugs. Maybe the herbs acted for you as a stimulant (like eleuthero, certain drugs)? One of the problems with many treatments is that it takes months before you notice obvious effects, and it is difficult to continue if you keep getting worse (e.g. from herxing) or don't notice any benefit. I also know the problem of getting ahead of yourself when you notice some improvement or just have a good day, and then get a huge backlash in the days after. That is one of the reasons I decided to stop working, easier to keep a steady pace this way. Hope you find something that works for you ...
