Guest guest
I don't have any advice, but I did want to say congratulations! I am 29 weeks pregnant and having a boy. My RA has been pretty well controlled, just having some issues in my left foot right now. I've had flare-ups of some of my other diseases but nothing too major. I just learned that I have Gestational Diabetes and am learning to cope with that. I think its easier with chronic illness, since you are already used to being sick and the changes that entails. All in all I am doing very well and am just thanking God that I am pregnant and praying the baby is healthy. Good luck, > > hi everyone, im brandy, 29, jra since 5, and i have 5 total joint > replacements including both hips, bilateral knees, and tl shoulder. i > am pregnant with my first child, 8 weeks on monday and very happy > about it, but im concerned about how to give birth with artifical > hips. does anyone here have experience or advice on this? im calling > mr ortho surgeon on monday and am going to ob on wednesday. my family > is worried of course. i have read things online about giving birth > causing joints to loosen and easily dislocate, nerve damage, joint > capsule rupture, and i definitely dont want any of these problems. > any help would be greatly appreciated. also, i am petite and small > boned. one of my hips tried to split during surgery and had to be > clamped. im only 5 foot 1 inches, and i weigh about 124 right now. > do you think this makes a difference? > > thanks, brandy >
Guest guest
thanks for replying elizabeth. so far, i have had no morning sickness. i have had 2 probs which i got meds for today, the overwhelming acid reflux and constipation! is your ob/gyn concerned about a vaginal birth for you, still with your natural hips? my family is very concerned, and the father is not ok with idea at all for me. otherwise, i think its weird how i dont control my own tastes anymore, i never know if i will or wont like something until the second i taste it. i either eat it up or want to immediately spit it back out. like tea, i dont like tea, at least i didnt before, but now its just about the only thing i want to drink and doesnt give me indigestion so bad i cant stand it. i was a big coffee drinker, and now i dont even want it. have you gained weight? is it ok on your joints since you gain gradually? i lost 15 pounds before i got pregnant, so i know can carry 15 pounds more than i am now, wonder about the rest tho. anyway, thanks for chatting. > > > > hi everyone, im brandy, 29, jra since 5, and i have 5 total joint > > replacements including both hips, bilateral knees, and tl > shoulder. i > > am pregnant with my first child, 8 weeks on monday and very > happy > > about it, but im concerned about how to give birth with artifical > > hips. does anyone here have experience or advice on this? im > calling > > mr ortho surgeon on monday and am going to ob on > wednesday. my family > > is worried of course. i have read things online about giving > birth > > causing joints to loosen and easily dislocate, nerve damage, > joint > > capsule rupture, and i definitely dont want any of these > problems. > > any help would be greatly appreciated. also, i am petite and > small > > boned. one of my hips tried to split during surgery and had to > be > > clamped. im only 5 foot 1 inches, and i weigh about 124 right > now. > > do you think this makes a difference? > > > > thanks, brandy > > >
Guest guest
Dear - I would be concerned about holding the baby to term because your pelvic girdle holds the baby and that weight when standing. Total bed rest and C section are things you should probably expect to bring the child to term. Do consult with your Drs. Guest guest
I have never had RA in my hips so that is not a particular issue for me. I do have Piraformis Syndrome, which does give me pain in my hips, but since I have GD, I am at higher risk for a C-section. But my doctors and I are aiming for a V-birth. I have gained around 15 pounds. I am having RA in one of my feet which my Rheum. says is not RA but tendonitis and he blames on my weight gain. I don't think 15 pounds is enough to cause me this trouble though. I think its a lot easier all around if you watch your weight though. > > > > > > hi everyone, im brandy, 29, jra since 5, and i have 5 total joint > > > replacements including both hips, bilateral knees, and tl > > shoulder. i > > > am pregnant with my first child, 8 weeks on monday and very > > happy > > > about it, but im concerned about how to give birth with artifical > > > hips. does anyone here have experience or advice on this? im > > calling > > > mr ortho surgeon on monday and am going to ob on > > wednesday. my family > > > is worried of course. i have read things online about giving > > birth > > > causing joints to loosen and easily dislocate, nerve damage, > > joint > > > capsule rupture, and i definitely dont want any of these > > problems. > > > any help would be greatly appreciated. also, i am petite and > > small > > > boned. one of my hips tried to split during surgery and had to > > be > > > clamped. im only 5 foot 1 inches, and i weigh about 124 right > > now. > > > do you think this makes a difference? > > > > > > thanks, brandy > > > > > >
