Kathleen,

Someone who used to be on this list did try the Prosorba column. I

don't know what results she had. If she's still here, maybe she'll

speak up.

Kathleen, I can think of only one person here who has tried the Prosorba

column. It did not work for her, but I wish your mother good luck with it if

she tries it.

Thanks very much for the info. I just managed to hook up with 4

other people who have also tried PROSORBA with dramatic improvement.

The one woman had NO R.A. symptoms for 11 months with each

treatment. She continues to have the treatments annually.

The other lady was in a wheel chair and is now in an arobics class 4x

per week. I went to the website to request more information.

It sounds pretty interesting as I am SICK AND TIRED of the biologic

route. My mom has had so many side effects from all the crap she

takes. All this stuff supresses your immune system and increases

malignancies. It is a concern to me.

THANKS AGAIN! I'll keep you posted on the outcome!

p.s. It appears lots of docs are offering this treatment in their

office now that Medicare and other commercial payers pay for it in the

office.

Thanks again!

It appears it is an apherisis procedure. Not a drug - blood is

extracted from the one arm passed and treated through the Prosorba

Column and infused back into the other arm. A non-drug treatment.

The bad antibodies bind to the sand like substance (called Protein A)

in the column. There is lots of info. on the website:

www.prosorba.com I've talked with several people who have had great

results since posting this message. I have contacted the company to

find a doc or hospital in the area that offers the treatment.

My mom has TRIED Everything! Enbrel, Plaquinel, Remicade, Prednisone,

Gold injections, antibiotic treatments (minocine), Humira, and now

they are talking about Orencia. MY MOM says forget it - NO MORE DRUGS

which prompted me to look into alterntives. She has had so amy side

affects from the drugs and her out of pocket costs for these drugs is

steep. Sounds like this treatment is an option for those intolerant

or unresponsive to meds. My mother clearly qualifies.

not sure if this is the same thing but it's an article that I came across last year - will put the pics into the photo section of our group. ... How can we add files or photos to the group? Just went there and there aren't any 'buttons' to add a new folder or files. The article is in jpeg format and there are 3 pages. I'll upload it so the others can read it. Please advise. thanks Helen P NW ohio Deborah Bargad <dbargad@...> wrote: I talked to my RD about it and he doesnt hold much faith it in. All RDs are different

Deborah,

Thanks for the info. I find this to be a " typical response " from a

rheumatologist when you talk about any non-drug treatment. I believe

they really are all the same - legal drug pushers! They simply make a

living by writing on a perscription pad. They do nothing else. lol!

hahaaaa!

Thanks again!

My mom is on her second treatment of Prosorba. 10 more treatments to

go. She is already seeing the difference as she isn't as stiff in the

a.m. and she actually walked around the block yesterday!

Keep your fingers crossed. Thanks to all the Prosorba responders for

your numerous supportive emails!

That is wonderful news. I hope that it continues to work for her.
