Guest guest
Hi Judi, I've had the same experience after a massage. I felt like my body was on fire, the inflammation was so bad that night and the next day. The good news is for me that it wore off within a day or two. For some reason I think it starts an inflammatory cascade. I have had a massage since then and mentioned that they needed to be especially gentle. I had no problems the second time. I hope you feel better soon! Love and hugs, Carol [ ] Confused Hello all, I'm a little puzzled. I had a very nice 1-hour massage yesterday. I don't think it could be considered deep tissue, but she did work me over pretty good (except my hands, which were hurting, and I asked her not to do them.) She said my back and legs were especially tight. But last night, and again today I was in some pretty awful pain. The hands are the worst, but everything else hurts too, hips, knees, ankles, elbows, shoulders (which haven't bothered me much before)even my toes. My temp is up too. I did drink a lot of water, which I knew is necessary, but I just don't know what can explain all this sudden pain. Since I still don't have a firm diagnosis of what sort of arthritic condition I have (except for my pcp saying it is definitely arthritic) I don't know where to look for answers. I don't see the IU rheumy center until May 12. I'm supposed to stop taking all the meds. by this Saturday, but the Bextra hasn't been helping the past few days anyway. I've been on the tetracycline now for 2 weeks with no results I can detect. I'm keeping a journal of pain and stiffness. Could the massage have triggered something? Or is this just a good ole fashioned flare? I hate to go into the biopsy this Friday feeling so awful, but I don't want to delay that either. Even the massage person commented on all the lumps on my back and arms. OK, 'nuff grousing on my part. Time to get back to work, too. I plan to muck about in the garden this afternoon, I don't care how much it hurts! It is 70 degrees, sunny, and I'm going to play with my grandson. We're planting green beans today. Warm hugs from sunny Indiana, Judi
Guest guest
Thanks, Carol. I do feel a bit better tonight--must've been the dirt therapy. I pulled some weeds around my chive plant, picked up branches, and then & I fed babies outside in the warm sunshine. Boy did they like that! I did take 2 Advil this afternoon, so maybe that helped (doesn't usually.) I think it will be a warm shower and early to bed tonight. I have aqua therapy tomorrow, and they keep the pool around 92 degrees--mmmmmmmm. Judi

My guy is good with his hands so I'm going to find a book that > describes it and try it at home. I've had some luck with massage and carpel tunnel. I do it myself if possible, altho my fingers can't handle it all that well, or ask my husband to do it. I follow a path down my forearm that starts just above the elbow. It's kind of a divet (sp?) and it hurts but relieves the pain afterward...
Guest guest
Hello Kay, Good question and I will ask my massage therapist about this. I plan to be moving to Newberg Or. in the late summer to live with my brother and his family. Are you familiar with this area? I believe its near the coast.I will get back to you soon, Kats.in South Carolina
Guest guest
Hi Kay, I have sought out an Active Isolated Stretch Practitioner - who is a sports therapist who also uses myo-facial muscle release techniques - and he works a charm for me... I would google to see if you can find anyone in your area. I feel looser and it helps my muscles relax as I am realigned after the sessions. Of course sometimes I feel good and overdo it - which is kind of like doing too much stretching which is sore for a day or two after... Good luck, Donna
