Guest guest
Hi Sierra, This is Steph in VA. I have been on Sulfasazine for 6 years at the highest dose allowed (4 grams per day= 8 pills 500mg each). I have had my urine turn dark yellow, not orange. I have not had my sweat or tear turn yellow/orange. It does stain my panties so I wear very thin panty shields (sorry guys) and I'm fine. I haven't had any diarrhea either. Feel free to email me privately if you have more questions. Take care, Steph in VAsnowdrift52003 <snowdrift52003@...> wrote: Hello,I'm still off meds and doing fairly well (went on a bicycle trip last weekend and did 27 miles one day) but because of mild achiness and stiffness in my hands, I'm considering taking the sulfasalazine the rheumy prescribed. However, I just researched common side effects, and saw that headache and malaise are common, as well as diarrhea. It's hard to think about taking something that could cause those things at a time when I am feeling pretty good! Also, because of its yellow-orange color, the med causes urine, sweat and tears to turn orange! The orange sweat can even stain clothing. Yuck. And yet, I want to prevent joint damage...Just thinking aloud here. Thanks for listening.Sierra ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Never underestimate the power of a small, dedicated group of people to change the world -- indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." Guest guest
Thanks Steph, Your message was just what I needed to see. I'll start the med tonight. Guess I'm weary of side effects and wary of the unknown. And because I've been feeling good, the motivation to take something isn't as strong as it has been in the past.
