Addie, so sorry you are new to our Lyme Ranks, we arent a club anyone wants

to join, but we are friends that understand! I know that there is a Dr , if

not 2 , in Houston that treat Lyme, someone will give you the names. I live

in TX about 140 miles north of Houston, and travel to Bedford, just above

Fort Worth for my LLMD.

Lyme is here in TX, it is possible that you were infected more than

once, but the one bite you remember sent the bacterial load higher than your

body could handle. That would be when you started showing symptoms. That

is what happened to me. Keep your chin up, you'll find the answers. btw,

did your Dr test you with a Western Blot? Even if the test is 'neg' it may

have shown Lyme specific bands. Also, being on antibiotics can really skew

results. Take care, Pepi

Oh Addie...

You sound just like me...I have had those problems for a long time and I too

had 33 of the 38 symptoms...I too am working on trying to get a

diagnosis...and here in Idaho it seems hopeless to do so. I hope you will

have better luck..I too have been tested for LYme coming back

negative....hey but I had just been on antibiotics and that is a big no no

for the test. But doctor doesn't seem to know much about that he says it

shouldn't have mattered. My daughter to has been tested...I have three

daughters whom I beleive have it too. It is sad that they don't listen to

us. Even if we know we have been bitten by a tick. Let me know how things

go.

Love always,

Cyntha Landon Idaho

Hey Addie,

I am new to the lyme world also. I was bitten in November and got

sick but am showing later lyme symptoms..As i go through my past i

think i have had it all a long but it may have been in remission or

was dormant and this tick bite brought it out...

Your story is so similar to mine. I also had infections in my

throat , white pus always sick and would get strep all the time. But

i was testing negative for it when i went to an infectious disease

physician...they tested me and tested me..i was tested for lyme three

times back then..finally said i had cfs and sent me home. Finally

someone tested me for a different type of strep,..was positive and

they yanked my tonsils. They told me they were the most infected

tonsils they had ever seen. I had tons of problems with sinus

infections after that..before that i had begun to develop all these

allergies..and since then still have them..that is our only

difference..my tests <allergy> were positive.

Just wanted to let you know that i can relate to your symptoms! The

people here are wonderful for support.. and information..i have asked

them numerous questions myself! My theory is that i was infected

awhile ago<i recall two tick bites> and that is why i have such a

sick past. I was treated with a lot of antibiotics..so maybe it was

able to kick it into remission ...cuz i have felt pretty ok since my

tonsils were out..except i did catch everything that was out there

cold and fluwise..plus the allergies...but that is nothing as to what

i feel now.

You have come to the right place !

hang in there,

jenn

And you cannot find an LLMD there? Not that that is strange or anything.....can't find one here either (at least one who would treat it appropriately). I wish you luck in finding someone.

Addie, with the fevers and some of your symptoms, you may want to get checked for Babesia and Ehrlichiosis also. These are other tickborne diseases which are known co-infections that interfere with Lyme treatment and often go hand in hand with Lyme Disease. (Can be transmitted by one tick bite). This testing should all be done by Igenex Labs in CA. They do have a website WWW.IGENEX.Com I believe it is. They can send you (or your doctor) the kit to draw the blood and they pay for shipping frozen blood specimen by Fedex, back to them. You might also have a western blot done by them (can all be done through one vial of blood serum) and also ask for a LUAT kit which would test the antigens in your urine. They send you three specimen vials to send back to be analyzed. All of these tests do require a doctors name on the requisition form. If your doctor is not open to this testing, please find another. It sounds like you might not only have Lyme Disease, but other tickborne diseases as well. Please pursue this!

Blessings,

Lorraine

I agree. Erlichiosis can definitely cause these symptoms. It is

VERY important to get tested for this also (as well as babesia).

Doxycycline is the antibiotic used to treat erlichiosis (it's dirt

cheap!).
