Guest guest
Gwen, In order to have an allergic reaction to something, you have to be exposed to it at least once before. That would explain why it happened the way it did. Your reaction is very typical of an allergy. Someone who is allergic to anything at all can develop an allergy suddenly to something they have used for years, or something they use that they haven't used for years. I'm glad it's under control -- any time you have hives, it's a very serious reaction, because it can be life-threatening if not checked right away. Thanks Deborah. It wouldn't surprise me if something went wrong. Ittook three tries for my RD to get it going into a vein (talk aboutbruises) and several times they came in and said it was dripping tooslowly and had to adjust it. I was just surprised because it took awhole week for the reaction to happen, and when I had that firstinfusion years ago before I moved nothing happened.Anyway, here it is Wednesday and i've been in bed for three days, finally today beginning to feel better. My GP has treated this veryaggressively with two shots, high doses of steroids, atarax and pepcid(which is also an antihistamine). and I can take zyrtec too. Itisn't just a question of itching though I've been very sick andsleeping a lot. have missed a lot of work as a result. everyone'sbeen very kind and understanding but it has sucked. today is thefirst day I seem to have no new ones, fingers crossed. The placeswhere it was really swollen are sore now.
