I swear by Aveeno products, soap, bath and shower gel and lotion. I have a lot of problems with dermatitis on my legs and for a while even had to take prescription medicine. I recently had flea bites from the cat. I might even have a dander allergy too. I use a calomine gel instead of the lotion but either works to dry up the oozings. I remember using a powder in the bath as a child when I have the measles, but dont know what it was. Using an anti histamine lotion or gel will get the job done too. Remember to cut yourself slack. Loads of it. Work or not, rest and eat right and dont look in the mirror more than you have to. Its the person inside that counts. Hugs, Deborah

Gwen, I have seen this with Remicade before and they usually give the person an IV drip with bendryl before getting the remicade. My moms friends sister stopped remicade for awhile and then went back on it and she had some pretty severe reactions to it and can no longer take it. But I think you will probably do well with the benedryl and remicade. I get an allergic reaction to allergra D when I take it but not every time I take it, pretty strange. I never did figure out why and my doctor doesnt seem to worried about it. I just switched to claridin D instead. But if you doc. doesnt suggest the benedryl maybe you should mention it. I just wanted to mention this I hope it made sense I am not really with it today ( I have a tooth ache ) I just wanted to let you know that I have heard of it before and I

dont think you should stop the remicade just yet especially if it really seems to work for you with RA. There are some options out there for you. And this isnt anything I havent heard of before. 's got it. Im on Remicade and they have me

take benedryl before each treatment. I dont know if

that is magic trick, but Ive never had a problem. Good

Well, they did have me take an Allegra D before the infusion.

Although when you think about it taking a pill is kind of silly

because there's no guarantee it will have started working when the

drip begins.

Anyway, I have to say, there is no way on G-d's green earth I am

risking going through this again. I have been completely out of it

for three full days, unpresentable, exhausted, weepy and miserable.

And it didn't start until 7 days after the infusion which makes trying

to plan anything a nightmare.

I had been doing well on the enbrel. I only switched to remicade for

insurance reasons. I don't even know if the remicade is working but I

really, really, really don't ever want to go through this again EVER.

It was not only hives it was angiodema, my whole face was swollen

twice its normal size. and as it goes down it HURTS. I'm on 30 mg of

prednisone for 3 days, then 20, then 10. I had two shots at the GP's

office. I'm on another antihistamine for nonitching and pepcid

(another antihistamine). That is to say it's been a major major deal.

Yesterday I took zyrtec and benadryl too.

These were not just hives but monster monster hives.

The only thing that has me confused is that it started a week after

the infusion. But there doesn't seem to be anything else it could

have been and i've had unusual side effects before (when I was on gold

salts long ago, the injectable kind, i lost the higher range of my

voice. Everyone pooh-poohed that as cause and effect but when I went

off them, behold, I was a soprano again...)
