Toni, sorry you are sick. Please wait till you feel better to take the Humira. I also have to postpone my injection this week because of a nasty sinus infection. Try using an ice pack on the injection site till you cant stand it then use the alcohol swab and proceed with the injection. Last time i didnt even feel it. hugs hope you find something that works for you. from PA
Guest guest
Wow, Toni, did you tell you Dr. that is is burning for that long? As soon as I took the needle out, mine stopped the burning. It did burn going in, but that I can handle. An hour though? No way could I handle that. I would mention it to the doc and see what they say. Guest guest
Well, today was suppose to be by Humira injection day. However Friday night I started with a sore throat which continued and got worst by Saturday night. When I went to bed I was running fever and feeling pretty crappy. Today I still have the sore throat and no voice. So I guess no Humira for me! I will have to call the doc on Monday and see what he says. I was looking forward for at least the 3-4 days of relief I get from Humira...but not looking forward to injecting acid into my skin and the burning that lasts for well over an hour after the injection. I just don't think Humira is going to be the drug that works for me. I will try to stick it out for another 7 months though because the medication does not cost me anything. Then I will explore other options. Toni
Guest guest
Yes Toni, I agree you should tell the doctor. Mine only burns for a few seconds while I am actually injecting. Also wanted to tell you my neighbor has trouble with burning , so she takes benadril about a half hour before injecting, and she says this really helps her, in WI sandradee_200340 <mrssdaniels2@...> wrote: Wow, Toni, did you tell you Dr. that is is burning for that long? Guest guest
I saw my rheummy right after the first injection which did absolutely nothing. I was suppose to go back about two weeks ago but had to cancel due to finances. I will reschedule as soon as I have the money. So I did let him know it burned with the first injection and he said it was normal. But now after three injections..I missed one...I forgot...the burning has gotten worst and worst. It feels like injecting acid into the skin and it last an our or more. I am beginning to wonder if this drug too will end up being a waste of time...at least so far it has not been a waste of MY money! LOL My insurance paid 100% for the first three month supply and I have the humira share program to pay for the next six months. I was truly hoping this would work....but as it looks when the free ride ends I will be looking at other options. 3-4 days of relief is just not worth all the pain with the injections, dull needles or the added expense. I am suppose to be on plaquinil but since my insurance will only pay for one eye exam a year no matter what I figured there was no point in continuing after three months. Not to mention I think I threw it away accidently when I was cleaning. It wasn't doing anything anyway. I have no clue what is next. Whatever the drug is it can not require constant labwork...becuase of the insurance I can't afford that now. I was suppose to get labs many months ago....I just can't afford the rheummy, PCP and lab...that is WAY too much. I meant to call Humira and report the burning. Which I think they already know about and really don't care...becuase if they did they would have adjusted the drug by now. I think Humira's way of think is that if you are desperate enough for relief you will put up with anything...so we will see how bad you put up with this... Now I am sure if people stopped using the drug citing the pain as a problem they would chane the formulation. Makes me wonder how many people are actually taking the pre-mixed Enbrel over the old you mix formula? Toni > > > > Well, today was suppose to be by Humira injection day. Guest guest
Not me; I much prefer the 25 mg twice weekly mix it yourself formula.
