Guest guest
Hi , how is your stress level each time you break out with this rash. Certainly stress can cause rashes as easily as an intollerance to any food or drug. I would recommend journalling on a daily basis, what you eat, how you are feeling, stress related issues and see if there is an common factor each time you break out. Hi everyone. I'm feeling very frustated tonight. For the past year I've been dealing with a skin reaction to different medicines (first plaquenil and recently methotrexate) or so I thought. My ra dr wasn't sure what the rash was from and the dermatologist was pretty sure it was the meds both times I went to him about it. We would start & stop my meds and it seemed like it was definetely the medicine.
Guest guest
Hi , I think I'm going to try that. My mom suggested the same thing, stress, as a possible factor. My daughters birthday was Saturday, the day I was sure the rash was coming back and by lastnight it was as worse as it's been. I took 2 benedryl lastnight before bed just to see if it was any better by morning, thinking that would be a sign of maybe an allergy instead but I think it's about the same this morning, maybe just a pinch better. I have also realized that my " rash " was at it's worst this same time last year and has been again this year (during the fall/winter); and it's during this same time that I chair a dinner & auction event for my childrens school. It's a huge responsibility and keeps me busy everyday. I realized that last year around time to start working on the auction was the time I started having this problem and sure enough this year, same timing. Coincidence I'm sure but I did realize that. Guest guest
hi, ! so sorry to hear of your psoriasis. my son's fiance' has had the same since age 7. tried all kinds of creams, lotions, methotrexate, etc. she has just recently been put on enbrel injections and that seems to be helping. she belongs to a support group at our university hospital center. I'll ask her if she would like to contact you off list. gentle hugs! Marcia i_live_in_slippers <bart.tracy@...> wrote: Hi everyone. I'm feeling very frustated tonight. All of a sudden it's back, and in full flare. My face is covered in this weird rash again and I know now for sure it can't be those meds. Haven't been on them for weeks. I've even stopped my mobic and nexium for the past two weeks. So, I began looking (again) on the internet for info on arthritis and rashes being linked and I found something called psoriatic arthritis, kinda sounds like a combo of RA and psoriasis. Thinking maybe this is what I truely have. Anyone familar with it?Any info anyone has would be greatly appreciated. I'm getting to my wits end. Something from the inside must be causing my skin to do this. It's just my face (not the lupus rash for sure) and it spreads down my neck just a bit. Guest guest
Something interesting about your post....I also have been having lots of canker sores in my mouth. Mentioned it to my dr and she said nothing about it concerned her so I kinda just let it go. I also mentioned it to my sister and she said she felt I must be carrying some kind of virus but who knows. I wonder if those can be brought on by stress as well; if so my odds may be leaning that way. It's hard to " let go " of responsibilities for me. I'm a stay at home mom of 2 kids aged 8 & 6, both of whom are now in school all day and helping out at the school, almost daily with this or that, has become my life so to speak. It's just what I do now. I'm in charge of alot of different things, the auction being the most important and carries the most responsibility since it involves thousands of dollars. I think I'm kind of an arogant controlling person at times with things like that. I tend to take on ALOT because I just feel it's easier for me to do it so it gets done correctly and on time. I have a hard time relying on others to do something for me. I made a new apt with my rheumy for tomorrow morning. I'm going without makeup (eww) and am hoping I can get some useful information from her tomorrow. Guest guest
Hi, Unfortunetly no. I was on it for only 2 weeks when we stopped the medication because it was at this same time my skin flared again, after being clear for awhile. We thought for sure it was the medicine causing a reaction. We were already convinced my plaquenil had been causing it for the past year. My skin seemed to improve off the med and get worse on it the few times we tried to start/stop it just to see. I have now been off the methotrexate for about 5wks and off all meds completely for 2 weeks; and my skin flared back up on Sat. I guess convincing me that it can't be any medicine. My canker sores were also really bad in Dec., before my first dose of methotrexate. So aggrivating not being able to figure out what's causing this. > > > > > > > > > Hi , how is your stress level each time you break out with > > this rash. > > > Certainly stress can cause rashes as easily as an intollerance > to > > any food > > > or drug. Guest guest
I saw the dr. yesterday and she said she's pretty positive that this rash I'm dealing with is in no way related to my arthritis. She said it doesn't resemble anything alarming to her, condition wise, that I should keep my apt with my dermatologist, which I am. So frustrating. I can't figure out if it's not related to arthritis at all, why I developed it at the same time. I've been dealing with this rash on my face on & off since I was diagnosed, almost 2 years, never before. I guess I'm going to explore the stress theory in more detail. Thanks for hearing me vent > > > > > > > > > Hi , how is your stress level each time you break out with > > this rash. > > > Certainly stress can cause rashes as easily as an intollerance > to > > any food > > > or drug. Guest guest
Someone may have mentioned this before, but have you mentioned Lupus to any of your doctors? It took years before my boyfriend's many visits to many different doctors finally paid off in determining what was causing his rashes and sicknesses. > > > > > > > > > > > > Hi , how is your stress level each time you break out > with > > > this rash. > > > > Certainly stress can cause rashes as easily as an intollerance > > to > > > any food > > > > or drug. Guest guest
Thanks. Yes, Both my ra dr & the dermatologist felt isnt from Lupus. I guess rash is just something very hard to find a root cause. I read about all different things online that could be causing it but my dr.'s say " nope " right away, can't really find a reason. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Hi , how is your stress level each time you break out > > with > > > > this rash. > > > > > Certainly stress can cause rashes as easily as an > intollerance > > > to > > > > any food > > > > > or drug.
