- Have them do a bone density for your spine and hips as well as an xray. This will show any erosion there. Fibromyalgia is a secondary symptom of RA and can cause the muscles in your neck, lower back and hips to feel sensitive and very painful. Explore the above options with your doctor. Be well, Deborah
