dear ,

i have read your e-mail of 'contemplating ' suicide.....most all of us

sick for years have felt the same ...'you are not crazy'.....to literally

'tolerate' daily pain and the brain dsyfunction takes a VERY strong will. you

may have theses suicicdal 'feelings' but please do not carry it out...

i know its hard...it is even hard for me...feeling lousy for 4+

years.....but i am a fighter ...i will not give in to my suicidal thoughts

WHILE i still have recent hopes

at least we 'do' have that to work with now a 'treatable' disease rather

than an

i know this is hard for a younger person going thru changes into

please be 'strong' ...feel hope that you will overcome this. Sometimes it

the antibiotics 'alone' will not be enough....eating, resting,

perhaps you may want to join a 'lyme teen list' to identify with others

Hang in there. I know it is rough. I have been there. It is very frustrating

to constantly have to fight to prove that you are ill. I am new to this group,

but it is helping me tremendously. Prior to

joining I felt like I was the only one. That is what they say here in PA. I

have a non existent illness. I am trying my best. I will be thinking of you

and wishing you the best.

Hello Robynn and all,

So sorry to be so long posting to the group, but carpal tunnel is killing

me, anything I can do for it, other than surgery??? It used to just come

and go, now it just stays, and nights are really bad, I am waking up hourly

with pain and numbness.

I want to thank Robynn for taking over , I know I leave the list

in good hands. I asked her to leave me on as a moderator to help out, but

she thought that would defeat the purpose of my working on getting well, so

she has just left me as a member, with no moderator duties at all! I am

really out of the loop now, but I will continue to be a proud member of this

list and post my comments, information when I know it and my health

complaints ad nauseum. I do hope the kind souls who had offered to help run

the list have contacted Robynn and signed on as moderators to cover for her

when she is unavailable, it is tough running a list as you may have guessed,

and she can use some additional people to pitch in. I always depended on

Robynn, Kay, and in the past Lott, till she got to ill to help. This

list is now Robynn's baby, and I know she will do a great job and the list

will continue to grow.

I will continue to do doctor referrals via email for the LDA-NJ, so I

will still have some support duties to handle and will not feel totally

useless.

I have been very busy making doctor and lab appointments, I also need to

schedule surgery to have my porta cath removed, but I have decided to wait

till the PCR studies come back, if positive, I will have the port replaced

instead of removed. Please, I need prayers that this PCR blood study for LD

comes back positive, if it does, I will be able to go back on badly needed

IV meds. I am going to another lab, other than one my insurance covers

(SKB) so I will have to pay out of pocket. I also need to get neuro-psyche

testing done again, but waiting for that referral. I will be very busy. I

have been off abx now for 15 days, and will resume orals after I get the PCR

blood studies done. I was not feeling so bad for awhile there, off abx, but

lately the fatigue, pain and swollen glands have returned. Someone made a

comment on the list a few days ago about being off abx and feeling good, I

never felt good, but I did not feel really bad, so I guess I can agree to

that.

I want to thank those of you who sent me cards and private notes, forgive

me for not personally responding to each of you, it is hard to type and the

worst is using the mouse, each time I do, my hand goes all pins and needles,

kind of like when you hit your funny bone type pain too. Sad part is my Mom

recently got online, with one of those $99 I-openers (internet and email

only) she wants to do email, and I can't do it very often. My brother is

online and he is writing her.

Well guys, I would say I would miss you all, but I will be here, lurking

and posting when able, I thank all of you for being my friends and for all

your love and support.

Huge Hugs,

Marta

Hello Everyone,

My name is Robynn , and I am your new list owner / chief moderator. I

hope most of you know me, but for those of you who are new, or just don't

know much about me, please allow me to introduce myself to you.

I was diagnosed with Lyme in 1992. I believe I actually contracted Lyme in

1982. In 1993 the State Medical Board here in Oregon investigated my doctor

for over use of antibiotics. After his hearing the board said my doctor's

use of antibiotics made them " uncomfortable " and they wished for him to stop

treating Lyme patients with more than two weeks of antibiotics. It was clear

that if my doctor did not do as the board wished, he would end up losing his

medical license. My doctor then spun his 100 + Lyme patients off to

different doctors and went back into emergency medicine full-time.

Since then I have struggled at times to get adequate care. Though by now I

have a pretty good system in place. I have a good Primary Care doc and I

always have access to the latest technologies thanks to the web. While I am

no where near my past fire fighting ability, I am doing much better than I

was.

It is with great sadness that I am taking over Marta's duties. Marta has

been an excellent list owner! She has assured me she will stay in touch with

the list, but we all understand her decision to take care of herself now.

No one can replace Marta here, not even I. I am simply going to do my best.

But I need to ask each and every one of you for so much help! Especially

those who have been here a while. Marta was sure everyone got an answer to

their question, a welcome, some praise, or much needed encouragement. There

is no way I am going to be able to keep on top of everyone in that same way.

I really need all of you to look out for each other. I need your help

welcoming people. I need your help ensuring everyone gets some kind of

answer to their question(s). I need your help with just about everything.

I am so confident though that this will not be a problem. This list has

grown so much! We have over 200 members now! And it is because people can

come here for support, answers and friendship. All of you are so warm and

friendly. I am so happy that many of you have had a chance to meet each

other in person this past year. Alas, I am on the other side of the country.

But I look forward to someday meeting all of you too.

The largest change that will take effect is that I expect members of this

list to be in charge of their own subscriptions. Please do not send

unsubscription requests to the list. You can easily unsubscribe by sending a

blank email to

-unsubscribeegroups . If you send your request to the list, it

may take me a little while to get to it.

I know this list will change some without Marta's presence here. But by no

means am I going to make major changes! This list is for all of you. You are

the ones who make this list what it is. And it is a wonderful list to be a

part of. I am truly honored to be a part of your list.

If at any time you have questions or suggestions for me, please feel free to

write to me off list at -Owneregroups or at my private email

address: nebneb@... .

Sincerely,

Robynn

List Owner

PS. Those who have expressed an interest in helping to moderate this list

please send me an email at -Owneregroups . We can talk about

the kind the help I need and whether or not you want to take on co-moderator

duties. If you haven't expressed an interest yet, but know you would like to

help out, you can email me too. =)

Hi Marta,

I am glad you are able to rest and wish you good luck in searching for the

treatment you deserve.

I am sorry to hear that carpal tunnel syndrome (cts) is still a big problem.

I have at least five hearing friends who struggle with cts which is an

occupational hazard from their work as professional interpreters (To avoid

cts, hands must be relaxed while signing. deaf people generally don't have

that problem) They find during bad flare ups, the only ways to reduce cts are

wearing splints all the time and avoid using hands. During better days, they

use use splints nightly while they sleep as preventive measure and the habit

minimizes the flare ups considerably. None considered surgery a viable option

since it has not been known to be permanently successful, However, a

cashier with cts working at a local grocery store said surgery made it

possible for her to use her hands which she wasn't able to do at all prior to

the surgery.

My former roommate, an interpreter with cts, is working on her dissertation

and uses VRT (voice recognition technology) to avoid using her hands. She

spends at least five hours a day on her dissertation and just loves VRT. It

is not cheap, but worth an investment. Working on her PhD won't be possible

at all without VRT because of her cts.

Hang in there, Marta good luck

hugs,

elizabeth
