If you don't mind the crunch, I add wheat bran to my smoothies and oatmeal for more fiber too. if you are nibbling on the kids' pancakes, check the labels on the frozen waffles for one high in fiber instead. If you like broth type soups, have one before each meal. white bread won't really *hurt* you but if you don't like wholewheat, how about rye or a pita or a soft tortilla wrap? again read the labels cuz fiber can really vary Even a small change like salsa instead of cheese on the chips would make a big difference and read the labels on the chips too cuz I have found some corn tortilla chips with alot of fiber. Better yet try veggies with the salsa. try a couple of dates or figs or even dry cereal instead of applesauce compare carbs, fat, and most of all FIBER then decide what to buy and eat based on what will leave you feeling satisfied instead of deprived If you cannot eat like this the rest of your life what is the point of depriving yourself for a temporary weight loss? One last tip, if you think you are hungry, try doing the 8 minute work-out instead of grabbing an extra snack if you still want that snack afterwards, have it. Guest guest
le, In my fruit smoothies, I use nonfat vanilla yogurt (sometimes I use vanilla soymilk)...which is slightly sweetened. I like the Stoneyfield Farms brand yogurt...available in natural food stores and in some supermarkets in areas such as california in the new york. Bananas sweeten a lot too. I use two scoops of protein (soy-based) powder, a 1/4 cup of ground flaxseeds, 1 cup of frozen raspberries, and a frozen banana. Yum! (The flaxseeds cover the much-raved about omega oils and 5 grams of protein, and the soyprotein covers the much-raved about isoflavones and 23 grams of protein, and the yogurt covers a good deal of my calcium requirement and 8 grams of protein.) ;-) F " rachelle " <ravi-@...> wrote: original article:tae-bo_on/?start=16069 > Barb, how do you away make a yogurt smoothie and take away that bitter > pucker taste of yogurt? Guest guest
I have a question about IBS. Mike has this and I was wondering if doing Tae-Bo has helped with the IBS? Mike at points has had to take muscle relaxers for his IBS and sometmes I feel so bad when he is just walking around having spasms. What are good sources of fiber? Guest guest
Yogurt Smoothie with no icky taste: 8 - 12 oz of Orange Juice (or some OJ blend with another juice that has a strong flavor) 1 cup of yogurt (experiment with different brands - the custard style doesn't usually taste icky, but tends to be higher in fat) 1 cup of frozen blackberries (high in fiber and very flavorful which tends to mask other flavors) 1 banana (the riper the better - stronger flavor!) 2 tbsps of protein powder (i get mine from wild oats. the booklet says it has 88g of protein, but i doubt that) 1/4 cup of ground flax seed (high in fat, but it's the very good kind of essential fatty acids and an unbelieveable amt of fiber) good luck! Guest guest
Thanks - but the chips and cheese thing has been an ongoing craving for a few weeks now. Some weeks I take the kids to the Coffee Bean for lunch and we all order nachoes and I take their leftovers home for me to eat. I think I am saving myself from a whole bag and container of cheese but there are the weeks that I give in and buy it without wanting to think about it. Those glazed donuts sound as good tonight as they did when you posted - it's a good thing the bakery is closed here. (small town) Actually, for having a hometown bakery (the best kind) just a few blocks from our house (I live in a town where we are a couple blocks from downtown and a couple blocks from the edge of town!) I have been really good about the bakery cravings. Hubby brought me home a donut on the morning we signed the purchase agreement and that was my first since last fall. Now to conquer the cheese and chips so I can say the same thing. le > > Um le, > Did you read my post about my donut binge? I ate 5, yes 5, glazed donuts a > few weekends ago.
