Guest guest
Hi Marta and All! Prior to Lyme I never ever remembered my dreams! In fact, I was convinced that I didn't dream at all. Well, since the Lyme I have bad dreams and nightmares many nights, and more when I am feeling really bad! They sometimes wake me, and other times I just remember them in the morning. I wonder if it has something to do with disruptions in our sleep cycles? Interesting! I actually listed " dreams as one of my Lyme symptoms! As for the dreams, I've been having them very vividly lately, and they're the type that I used to get in school right before an exam, or in a stressful situation. Does anyone ever get the type where you walk into a classroom to take a final in a class that you forgot to go to for the whole semester?? It seemed to bring all my symptoms to the forefront 10-fold! Mostly, I was stressing over Lyme Disease and how life-altering it was which made my Lyme Disease more life-altering! I did find, however, that my acceptance and my taking control of this disease helped me more than ever. It was the information I learned here that allowed me to walk into the doc's office knowing what I wanted and knowing that Lyme is too life threatening to let anyone tell me different. I only had three months of IV abx Rocephin, but because it was started as soon as symptoms showed up, I believe it was the answer for me. No one is ever sure if it will raise it's ugly head in the future, but I'm going to enjoy my freedom from Lyme for now. I have a check up appt with my LLMD next Tuesday and I want to hear what he thinks of the possibility of Lyme showing up again. He's been really informative and knowledgeable so far. Has anyone else been fortunate enough to start proper abx as soon as symptoms start? How long ago did they end? Did symptoms show up again on you? How long after abx ended? Guest guest
Hi and all, Yes, I do think we are going through a rough ordeal, and with so much conflict and disbelief in the medical world, it is small wonder that we react with nightmares. I am so sorry most of us with Lyme suffer from this, but glad that I have a forum to post about it, and receive confirmation from others that I am not alone. I am not going to rule out the seizures causing this phenomena until I see the neurologist. It probably won't hurt for me to have some more brain studies, or even a sleep study. I do forget what it is like to sleep through the night. I did some net surfing yesterday and found that the definition of a nightmare is a dream that causes the dreamer to awaken. If you stay asleep it is only a bad dream. I have awakened in a sweat, heart pounding, so I am pretty sure these are nightmares. Thanks for sharing , and others who responded to this post, and thanks for changing the subject header, I always forget. As for the bicillin injections, I am off them for now, I can't keep not functioning or feeling so sick, obviously they did work for me, but I best wait a bit before I attempt to resume them. Guest guest
Hi Lovette, Thank the Lord I don't have the naked ones, they would really scare me, just seeing this big baby's body....LOL! I agree that stress situations as you mention can cause bad dreams. The most recent dream I had and the worst to date: I noticed flaps of skin on my arms and legs, I pulled at one, and a huge bloody fat worm came out, I was running around, pulling at the flaps trying to get them out of my body. I don't have to be a psychiatrist to interpret that one. I guess this disease causes much more stress than I give it credit for, it certainly has affected my subconscious. Another theme and I have it often, my husband and I are back at our dating stage, and he is leaving me....it really upsets me, to the point I want to smack him when I wake up.....LOL! I know that this is my own insecurity coming out in my dreams, he gives me no reason to suspect he would want to leave me, but I am filled with guilt about being sick and wondering I think, why doesn't he leave! Thanks for today's therapy session....LOL! Pleasant dreams, Marta NJ - >From: " F. Mott " <smott@...> > >Dear Marta: You poor baby! Guest guest
Hi Wes, Thanks for your take on this, it appears to me that this disease is the culprit, and since you have been sick such a short time, hopefully you have not had the stress factor as many of us have after dealing with the disease for so long. Maybe we just don't sleep deep enough and thus we recall the dreams. I would hate to think those little spirochetes are directing movies in our heads....LOL! I think all of us have that because we do feel guilty that we cannot do the things we used to do anymore. It is hard to accept that we cannot work, or play like we did once. I think we carry a lot of hidden anger along with these burdens. I have come to accept this disease a long time ago but yet still I have those periods when I feel useless, angry, and sad. I don't know if I have nightmares. Never remember, but suspect I do because there are nights when I kick my husband nearly out of the bed. I don't know that I am doing it but he sure lets me know the next day what I was doing. Tried sleeping in separate beds, but that did not help our marriage and so I " moved " back. After we started talking about our feelings and problems then we could start dealing with them. I cannot believe the emotional roller coaster I am on at times. Guest guest
Hi everyone, I'm amazed at myself, two very good days in a row!! But so afraid to get to excited, I always get my hopes up when I have continuous good days. But I am definitely taking advantage of these good days. Too bad my husband is on travel. He rarely gets to see me feeling good. Anyway wanted to share a poem with everyone, that my doctor gave me (he said he gives it to all his Lymies) after I forgot to tell him a few very important things (like I had surgery scheduled the following week, etc.) he laughed at me, I almost cried because I knew I was losing my mind - no memory! The poem made me laugh ( I hope it makes you laugh, I find when I'm depressed its not so funny). IF YOU ARE IN A DOWN PERIOD RIGHT NOW, MAYBE YOU SHOULD SAVE THIS POEM WHEN YOU FEEL BETTER. I'm going to send it as an attachment, if anyone has a problem opening it, let me know.
