Guest guest
christine, for numerous years i was on abx treatment.....and numerous cocktails as u are.......after about 5 years straight my llmd and myself decided to give my body a break ......long term abx can cause complications in ur bodie and as we have all found out.....things easily taken care of before(sinus infections) now seem to last forever......while on abx before stopping about 8 months ago......i felt they were doing nothing as i could not funtion totally.....and was still disabled........however since being of i realize that they all did do something to lessenb the severity of my symptoms......thje last 3 months as most of u know i have been living in hell.....pain fatigue....nuero the works.......that is why i am ready to try another course of abx.......even a little relief would be welcome rite now...........unfouranatly i feel that my life will be a merry go round as far as abx(sorry kim) as that has been my experiance so far.......waiting for the miracle but have been told that this disease has allready done lots of irreversable damage.......i know the feeling u r a=going thru sometimes i felt i would glow with all the meds i was on....... It sounds like even taking the edge off all the pain your going through would help. My pharmists at shoprite told me that I was keeping them in business. LOL My Uncle has a doctor friend who does not believe in aggresive treatment for lyme. He feels that I'm doing more harm then good and thinks that there is more going on then " just lyme, babesia, and echrolisis " . I guess I have to have faith in my LLMD and believe we are doing the right thing. Feel better,
Guest guest
yes keep the faith......however if it ends up being long term discuss with ur doc...( yes u can do that) about long term affects .....us lymies should take an active role in our treatment .....not just blindly follow a doc....even a lyme literate one......i e mail my doc numerous info that i find on the web.....he loves it as i have more time for research than he does......it was a joint decision( as all of mine have been ) nbetween myself and him....Reid...nj

My doc said that sometimes babesia can be stubborn.. Does Dr. B feel the same way? Does he feel it takes many rounds to erract the babesia? I was diagnosed in 89 with lyme and just found out this Jan that I have echrolis and babesia. Can the babesia be hard to get rid of because I had it for many years without treatment? How long have you had babesia? How much Mepron do you take? Sorry to pick your brain...Your sooo lucky to be seeing the best doctor for lyme and co-infections. Guest guest
Hi , I see Dr. Burr. I am on (6 gm IV Claforan/day in a 24 hour pump) 4 days a week soon to be on 12 gm 3 days/week. Also flagyl 4x/day, mepron, oral cytovene (antiviral for stealth viruses) oxycontin (pain) klonopin, celexa, diamox, supplements and whatever I forgot. Seems like a lot to me too but my babesiosis was very + again, as is my Lyme and stealth virus tests. (of course I am dx clinically but lucky me--tests are + too most times for whatever that means) I guess I am filled with bugs. I was " better " but he felt that I definately needed more IV after IV Doxy.Extremely neuro and lots of pain. About 10 days into the Claforan I think I'm in a herx although I hate it. Then went to 9 gm and feel more sick. After all this time you'd think I'd just know what a herx is. I do but think it's something else sometimes or else get so scared I'll be stuck in this fog and ^ pain and profound fatigue. I have to think that this guy is smart though. He knew I had more bugs to kill which is why he said continue IV. I see him July 12 with whole family. Sometimes I find it especially hard to enjoy the good times when I get them because seems within a short amount of time I am low again. I do try to enjoy all the good moments but this thing makes me feel like a punching bag! Sorry guys, bad day. Tired of not making plans and being out there.I am a realist and accept most of this the best I can but some days are harder right? I trust my doctor. Will discuss all this next visit and let you know. I really was in a coffin more than once and he got me out. Don't care to go there again. , more than you think, many of us are on a lot of meds. As long as your labs. etc are OK and you really talk to your doc, go with your gut. I have had many improvements with med changes just when I thought everyone was crazy. Guest guest
Dear , I was dx with Lyme in 93 but know I had it much longer. I was so busy dealing with my daughters severe Lyme in 89-90 that I know I wasn't really " ill " but soon after, although I went back to work part-time, I can see now that I had many " sinus " problems, pressure, h/a etc. I've been out of work for close to 21/2 years and was out forever only hanging on by a thread for a long time before that. I was dx with babesiosis15 months ago but Dr. B and I know I prob had it forever. Yes, he thinks it can be hard to get rid of esp with trying to fight Lyme, ehrlichiosis and stealth viruses. He feels you have to try to treat co-infections first. No wonder I have been SO sick. He now wants me NOT to take a week off then do a 3 week course. He says that the (newest thinking) dose needs to be constant--perhaps that will help me not relapse with babesiosis. I have done at least 4-5 courses recently and many more within the past 15 months. Yes, I am lucky to see him but that is a long story. I was at deaths door and a " connection " MD got me in. I have seen several other LLMDs. Now though I think everything is dx all together at last--I hope. Maybe with more hard work, I can function at a certain level for a longer time. Since I was on IV Doxy for a long time, the ehrlichiosis should be gone. I take 1 teaspoon (5cc) twice a day of the Mepron. Since I am on IV Claforan, I am not on Zithro with it but was when I wasn't on IV. My PCR, antibody and Fish tests were all + for babesiosis recently. Ins co is a nightmare as usual. LUAT + in Dec and " pretty " + WB. Tons of other evidence. I pray this will be covered. I am back in bed but am in a major herx now. Happy to help when I can do it. Hang in there.
