The Right to Know-

2004 Fall Campaign

ONCE IN A BLUE MOON EVENT &

5TH ANNUAL HEPATITIS C BENEFIT CONCERT:

Sponsored by SIREN TO WAIL….

MUSIC WITH A MESSAGE

The 2004 Siren to Wails', " Once in a Blue Moon " Hepatitis C

awareness event, has joined forces with Hepatitis C Movement for

Awareness and Marino DeSilva, founder of " Angels on Earth, " an

organization that uses music for healing.

" The Right to Know " , a non-profit organization that sponsors

the " Are You At Risk? " testing campaign, will also join the All-Star

Concert and Benefit Fundraiser, providing vouchers for free " Home "

Hepatitis C test kits. The purpose of the event is to increase

education and awareness about Hepatitis C; a widespread and

debilitating disease caused by a virus. The Right to Knows' primary

mission is to get everyone tested for Hepatitis C in order to stop

the spread of this virus..

This year's " Awareness Benefit " will be held Saturday, November

20, 2004, at Tipitinas Uptown, New Orleans.

Marino DeSilva and Timothea are calling in the music forces of

the world to make 2004 the largest " Blue Moon " event yet.

Once again joining the star studded night, featured headliners,

and legends, Toussaint and Cyril Nevillem. Both are strong

supporters for hepatitis C patients fundamental right to know they

are infected. Many nationally known stars will join in making

awareness a nationwide event and This will set the precedence for

and all-star night, followed by a Hepatitis Consortium & the

Hepatitis C Movement for Awareness " Second Line " March, ending with

the Siren to Wails' Drummer's Circle and Candlelight Vigil. The

Drummers Circle will be one of a kind, combining the unique sounds

of Mardi Gras Indians and 2nd line drummers, in addition to

legendary drummers and percussionist from around the world. The

chant pf rhythms will be recorded and released on the upcoming

production featuring a variety of Louisiana artists, produced by New

Orleans own Timothea.

Currently, the only means of stopping the spread of this disease is

through testing, education, awareness, and preventive efforts.

Hepatitis C (HCV) is a blood borne virus that infects over 5.8

million Americans. HCV is the number one epidemic in the world and

infects almost 300 million people worldwide. . It is the leading

cause of liver transplants in the United States. Based on National

Institutes of Health (NIH) statistics, 30 percent of middle age

adults with infections over 20 years, are expected to develop end

stage liver disease.

When end stage failure occurs, the patient's only hope is a

liver transplant. According to the United Network for Organ

Sharing, the organ donation and transplantation division state, only

5,000 livers are available each year, leaving the majority on that

list with no options for life. There is no cure for most and no

vaccine. Early detection, through testing is essential, so patients

can take preventive measures shown to extend lives.

What people do not know, CAN hurt them! Hepatitis C is a silent

disease and is one of the top five diseases missed by the medical

professionals.

The HCV epidemic is discovering " what was " , the consequences of

a tragedy that occurred within the nation's blood supply. In 1988,

242,000 HCV infections were reported annually. These high figures

were reported throughout the 1980s. Since 1989, when heating or

washing of blood products became mandatory, the annual number of new

infections declined more than 80 percent by 1998. Only 20% of

patients with hepatitis C know they have the disease. Four Million

people have no clue and this is why it is imperative people who are

at risk, get tested to save their life and stop the spread of this

insidious virus.

Help is on the way but more immediate help is needed.

YOU CAN make a difference and save lives. Make plans to attend

the " Once in a Blue Moon Benefit Concert and Awareness March " ,

November 18.20, 2004- New Orleans, LA.

This is a good idea, . People who take these drugs are often denied
