Guest guest
Dcrlin , This group has fallen just about inactive. I would try a Delphi forum group . Lots of hcv groups their . Search Delphi forums once their register . Check the index under health and wellness , support and recovery Theirs around 10 hcv gps their . I visit Seekers ,hep palace , Janis and friends , which is a bit clickish for me but others find it good then you have hep c heppers for awhareness , hep city , some are bigger then others but look in. The starting TX thing is no big deal . You may want to take a few tylenol or whatever . I kept some mild narcotic pain meds and xanax around. I also used an anti ds 8 months in but its a good idea to start on a anti d before you get far into tx ,treatment. If you take the shot in a fatty part of the body it comes on slow ,lots of fat to diffuse through. Take it in the arm and it comes on like a mack truck. Do the fleshey part i used my stomach. You may feel a little strange after a few hrs and 24 to 48 hrs after is when you may feel a little under the weather. Its not that bad . It does vary person to person . I have never heard any one scream doing a shot only complain a little. Just watch your bloods down the road the meds cause bonemarrow surpression . It gets most peoples red cells first makeing you feel fatigued. Time for procritt a red cell boster. It may hit your white cells too . Leaving you open to infection , nupigen time a white cell boster Keep track of both and always get copys of lab work so you can talk about your labs in group. It worked for me neg since 2003. You can mail me at my home addey or this group i watch . Seems everyone is just about gone from here. Good luck. [ ] Dos & donts - before & after first shot I have hepatitis c for 25 years. Never treated. Feel ok. I am about to start treatment in 1-2 weeks. I plan to live one day at a time. So, what should I do or what should I know before and after my first shot? or what to expect before and after first shot? These are what I know at this moment:-- first shot is always the worst, 2nd shot will be better than first shot-- drink lots of water, but how much water is "lots of water"?-- eat lots of veggie and fruits-- taste bud may change-- flu-like symptoms-- exercise (well, I am paralyzed from waist down, weak arms, what kind of exercise should I do?)I want to be well-prepared for my first shot. Thanks for the help. Guest guest
Hi and welcome. It's been 4 years since I finished treatment but you've already got the one day at a time thing right. Also drink LOTS of water. A few hours after the first shot you may have flu-like symptoms. In other words you'll feel like crap. Are you doing one shot a week and Ribavirin. If so about the time you start feeling good, it will be time for the next shot. Some people do better than others. I was in the middle. I had a lot of the side effects but if I have to, I'll do it again. Good luck and we're here for moral support. Sharon --- dcrlin <dcrlin@...> wrote: > I have hepatitis c for 25 years. Guest guest
You will need to try to get down one gallon a day of water, it sounds like a lot but can be done. If you have caffine coffie tee or soda, you will need to drink that much more water. The more water you drink, the less side afects you will have. I went through this 4 years ago. It was a long 48 weeks but well worth it. Terrydcrlin <dcrlin@...> wrote: I have hepatitis c for 25 years. Never treated. Feel ok. I am about to start treatment in 1-2 weeks.
