Hey Lovette: Your not crazy, you just have lyme!!!!!!!! Add this

miserable disease to the FULL MOON and I am sure that is

why you crashed!!!!!! (me too!!!!) I find that I am enormously

affected by the moon cycle......both the new moon and the

full moon (especially that nasty full moon!) It may look very pretty reflected

on the bay....but it wrecks havoc with my body fluid composition. I become

more beastier

than usual, and my aches and pains super intensify. My body is affected also

by the tides since I live

by the bay.....and the full moon tide being the worst. Add that to

hormonal changes and herxies and arthritic flares from the changing

weather and there is no escaping!

I will keep you in my prayers!!!! I am sure God has a reason for

all of us going thru these trials and tribulations...it may not

comfort you to know that when you are hurting....but please just

keep the faith! Each of us will get our miracle some day!!! I truly

believe that! AMEN!

Dear Lovette,

I am so sorry you feel so terrible. Just know that as difficult as it may be

to get through it, get through it you will ! ! ! Try to remember that a herx

is a good thing (yeah, tell your body that, huh?!) since the nasty little

spirochetes are dying off. I will hope and pray that this passes quickly. In

the meantime, rest as much as possible and know that it will be over soon.

I know this is no consolation, but it sounds like the herx has begun,

just try to remember that you are killing off those darn spirochetes in

droves. Call your doctor if you think it is warranted, and try to stay in

bed as much as possible.

lovette, i to use to have problems praying for myself or asking others to pray

for me.....i had a long talk with my pastor and he told me " if u can't ask

for help for yourself who can u ask for....... " it made perfect sense to

me..... it is still an ego thing but i am much better with it......i will keep

u in MY prayers......

Hi,

First of all, let me say I sympathize. You're right, this is no life for a

17-year-old or anyone else. My two daughters have Lyme (ages 6 and 9), and

it's heartbreaking to see them suffer with this disease. Thankfully, they are

improving after nearly a year of antibiotics (2nd round for each of them; this

is a relapse for them). The only pain med I can say has worked for me is

Vicodin. I can't take a whole one because I am so sensitive with meds like

that, so I just take a 1/2 tablet twice a day and it keeps the pain at bay.

It's enough to " take the edge off " so that I'm not totally incapacitated.

Nothing else has worked, and I've tried many different ones. Here's hoping

Annie feels better very soon.

Dear Sandy,

I was touched by your prayer, and again gratefull for this illness that

brings us to our knees so we may look up to heaven to see who really is in

charge. I became a born again christian while laying in bed 4 years with

chronic, late state lyme.

I go to a wonderful church, with a pastor whom I am sure will some day be on

TV or something, he speaks with such wisdom and insights...he has a sense of

humor too. They record the mesages on casette tapes, They are fantastic. If

I have had good results for myself with percaset, but my son, who also is a

teen and had accompaning nausa, it made his stomach sicker. I guess it all

depends on your system.

I pray and hope your daughter is better soon. My son is a senior in HS now,

and it has been very hard on him, had to drop classes, had to drop his sports,

etc. He is very angry. Probably won't be able to go on to college...although

his girlfriend will be. He has been through all this and the loss of his Dad,

which has put him in Manic depresion (so they say). I will continue to pray

for your daughter, and all the afflicted of this disease. Keep the faith.

Just a quick suggestion, try Benadryl for that creepy crawly feeling.

How about calling her doctor for pain medication relief. I use darvocets to

take the edge off my herxes.

She is in our prayers, thanks so much for being such a great Mom and keeping

us posted. Yes, this is a heck of a life for a 17 year old, nothing hurts

me more than to see a young person going through this.

Chrissy, Thanks for your thoughts about my daughter Annie. We have taken

her off all antibiotics for several days to give her a break. She will go

back on them on Sunday. She got Lyme when she was six so my heart goes out

to you dealing with your young girls. It is so hard to watch kids deal with

this. I also have Lyme but have gotten alot better since IV treatment

several years ago. I must be one of the lucky ones.

Still have symptoms but I can live with them. We are trying Percodan for

Annie now. Not much success. Our thoughs are with everyone. Meg

Dear Gail, My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. We just

started Annie on Percodan last night, she is getting some relieve. Where do

you live? Perhaps Annie and your son could talk, she also is looking at no

College, at least at this point, and has a boyfriend in college. We live in

Northern CA and the support and knowledge about Lymes is not to good. It

would be good for her to talk to another teen with Lyme. Maybe we need a

special kid chat line on Lyme. I think they deal with some issues that

older people don't. Anyone have any ideas on this?

Dear Meg,

I hope Annie is feeling better. My name is and I was first

diagnosed with lyme at 16. I missed my junior year of high school and I did

half days my senior year. I was at my all time worst in highschool. I was

also to sick to go away to college. So I can relate to her situation. I had

to go to community college and start off part time. I did eventually get to

go to a 4 year college. Annie will also, but right now when your feeling so

lousy it's hard to believe. But she will!!! Please tell her that!!! I'm 25

now and after doing pretty well for those years I had a bad relapse in July.

The doctor said I was working way to many hour at my job which caused my lyme

to relapse.. If Annie would like to E-mail me when she is feeling better I

would love to talk to her. I know what it's like to be sick in highschool.

I'm also sorty young (I hope 25 is still considered young) so I can probably

be able to relate to her. I have a positive outlook and I will be positive

when talking to your daughter. The last thing she needs is negativity. If you

think writing her a letter is better then E-mail then I would do that.

Hi Meg,

I really hope Annie recovers quickly. It is so hard to see kids go through

this. I've had Lyme for almost 6 years now, and I could deal with that. But

I cried when both of my girls were positive. They both have had a lot of

cognitive symptoms at times; thankfully they are on Cedax and it seems to help

them eliminate those symptoms. So often they would just cry, especially my

6-year-old. She would just cry, " I don't feeeellllll good.......... " I hated

it. I am quite angry at their pediatrician who just dismissed their symptoms

as " growing pains, " or " mimicking Mommy. " He refused to test them, and asked

me if I was seeing one of those " Lyme wackos. " I took my girls, finally, to

my " Lyme wacko, " who tested them and they were both positive. I blame the

pediatrician for my two young children now having to deal with a *chronic*

illness, when, if he had listened to me and worked with me, maybe they would

have gotten prompt treatment and now wound up in this awful position.

I'm happy to hear that IV treatment helped you so much! How long were you on

it? I only did one month of IV a year ago. About a month after finishing it

I felt better than I had since I got sick. Unfortunately, it was short-lived

and I'm not doing well at all again. Can't wait to see my doctor on Monday

and complain! ;-)

If the Percodan doesn't help Annie, maybe she can try Vicodin. I find that

it doesn't upset my stomach and it does take that edge off the pain. My

wishes for good health are for you, your daughter, and everyone!

Hi My name is . I am 24 and have had Lyme since age 18. I

went on IV and improved dramatically and then had small relapses in the recent

years in which I was able to control through orals. However this July I

relapsed again pretty bad just like you. The orals weren't working and I was

flipping out. I too was working long hours in manhatten and also waitressing

one day a week. I live in manhatten and travel back to Long Island to take a

shot of bicillin now once a week. It is starting to help but I am still scared

and no where near symptom free like I had been. Just wondering if you would

like to share your story with me. I don't have ny friends with this disease

What is your relapse like? I get relapses that start with headaches.

I now try to not get overly tired, eat right and take vitamins. I get

lots of sleep as I work at a hectic job, sometimes overtime, but I catch

up on the weekend.

Hi Dianne , Hope you are feeling good today. My relapses usually start with

the headaches too along with a lot of muscle twitching and neuro type

problems. that is when I usually know it is back and I need medicine. How are

you feeling now; in general I mean. What antibiotics are you on?
