Happily, hcv is not that easily transmitted, but Lynn gives some good advice about any blood. I am still very careful of any cuts or any blood. I gave my son very stern advice not to play with my shaver, he's getting into his teens where he may think about playing around with shaving. Simple care, once you know you have this disease is enough to prevent it's being passed on. -dz-Lynn <OMySister@...> wrote:

dz said watch your shaving practices, I share a shower with 2 other roommates and I'm very careful my razor doesn't get mixed up with theirs.

Also, with kids around keep your toothbrush out of reach as that can transmit the virus through microscopic blood particles passed on to irritated/bleeding gum tissue.

I'm now on Pegasus and copegus for 24 weeks. I'll be at week 8 this Friday. So far my side effects have ranged from nausea, itchy skin, fatigue, hard to catch my breath after exertion and some major depression. I was on Welbutrin before tx but It doesn't seem as though it's working. I cry about everything lately so I will check with my dr.

These sides vary in degree and duration except the breath. That is pretty consistently there.

Good Luck, you've found a great group here!

They just isolated the virus in 1988, they first came up with a blood test to detect it in a blood sample in 1991. As they are becoming more aware of the epidemic, people are being detected sooner and sooner. Good luck and we'll whip this dragon together. -dz-scott grennell <lafamgrennell@...> wrote:

Hi Lynn,

When I became short of breath I didn't say anything about it. I was afraid treatment might be stopped. I made an agreement with myself that if it got any worse I would let the specialist know. Turned out I had pneumonia. The "specialist" I had didn't check my heart or lungs except at the start of tx. I went for an 'after treatment' checkup with my family doctor and she found it. Just giving you a heads up just in case...

Everyone,

Today I called the specialist to get the results of my final tests taken two weeks after treatment, and get a return to work note...I was told that they would get to the note as soon as they could. I advised I would not be able to go back to work next monday if they did not send it. I was told that since their head nurse was gone (wonder why???) they didn't have time to check files and write notes. If something was wrong they'd get back to me and they'll write the letter as soon as the Doctor could get to it. I think I will type the note up and take it over to the office for the Doctor to sign. I'll offer to fax it for them so they don't have to bother and if they need me to file it I can handle that too. Anyone have better ideas?

Peace...SharonC__________________________________________________
