Good morning all, pretty quiet this morning. I got up to a beautiful morning and had a 10 mile bike ride before showering for work this morning. It's GREAT to be alive! We are expecting 70's today, which would be a first. It is 51 right now at 8am. Hope you are all having a great day! -dz-

Hi

I know this stuff is no fun. I have had gout in my Knee before and have never had anything so painful. It swelled up, got red and hot. I use ice and anti-inflammatory med if it flairs up. They really don't know what causes it but it is excess uric acid in the blood and it crystallizes into tiny needles in a joint; usually the toe, foot or knees. It is as painful as it sounds.

89 degrees here today - a little much this soon - but I'm not complaining. Our southwestern counterparts think that's cool.

When I hike with others, I make it plain that I will go at the speed I like and often lag behind to study some moss, plant, rock, etc. I tell them to go on and not wait for me. I find I miss so much if I hurry so I don't. I go for the adventure, and to appreciate nature - not to run a race. I find I get the most fulfillment If I hike alone. There is a quote by someone that I like - " Beauty is in the journey; we are betrayed by the destination". This should be applied to life as well.

We actually had a snowstorm last night! I had to drive my son home to Manitowoc (about 80 miles round trip) through a blizzard last night. It didn't pile up too much though. The grassy areas are covered, but at least I won't have to do any shoveling! -dz-

I agree with you, Dennis. I find I see a lot more wildlife hiking alone. It's good therapy for me. Just me and HP. -dz-

I'm really having trouble with this morning. Half the time I read an email and either reply or go to the next one, I get one of those "site not found" screens and I have to refresh. I'm not sure if half of my posts are going through... -dz-

i'm just hoping we don't 'cheated' on our summer

weather!!! we usually don't get the really nice stuff(mild heat)

til after the 4th of July w/e-- then it is gone by the end of Sept.......much

too short for my tastes......but am keeping my fingers crossed & hoping

for good summer

Of late it's been in low 50's...they're

saying we may get up to low 60's.. but they've (weather men) been saying

that for quite some time now & all we've been getting is these darn

ol' ugly dark clouds!! We're certainly going to retire elsewhere!!!

I wouldn't even mind having 4 seasons...... but would really like to move

to Maui!!!!! We're considering this as we both feel AZ would be just

too much heat most of the time......just the opposite of Oregon

Terry----- my family used to 'vacation' in Flagstaff--it's just beautiful

there in summers - but very cold in Winter--I've been there then too!

We used to spend a lot of time in AZ when I was just a kid! I had

cousins who like in Phoenix....I remember one summer we went there in August

& spent 2-3 wks in Phoenix--actually I spent every day @ the local

pool-under water' I just hated it down there..... but when my folks

retired to AZ they chose the Foothills area about 25 mi east of Yuma

& I found it was quite abit hotter there than in Phoenix!!....but my

folks just loved all that heat!! & desert climate!! Part of the

Imperial Valley.

Arlene, If you were to retire in Prescott. It is in what

they call High desert. Your afternoon high's in the summer are only in

the low 90's. In the winter it might get down in the low 20's or high teen's

for the low & you do get some snow. The only draw back is take's a

lot of $$$ for land & houses. But it is nice. Flagstaff is real

cold in the winter & you get a lot of snow. Southern Az where I am

the summers are stinking HOT! I will be moving as soon as I retire in 17

years.

We've got quite a supply here in Wisconsin. They haven't yet made themselves known, but they're certainly out there. We've got plently of swamps and lakes for their breeding ground. Gardening is always a chore of how long I can stay at it before I run back into the house and scratch the remainder of the day. -dz-

Arlene, We have been down here for a little over 21 years and Susy & I are tired of it. The mere thought of starting over again scares me. So I will be down here till I retire unless I could transfer to our Madison Wi plant.

dz----- we are very fortunate in not having the mosquito problem--we live

quite close to an active stream & the neighbors have a swampy area

just across from our driveway...there is a pool(small) all year round)

But our county has a very good plan for ridding the whole area of mosquitoes--can't

think of what it's called offhand!!
