Guest guest
Soy milk is very high in Carbohydrates, which in exchange feed the " happy go-lucky " candida fungus. Avoiding all carbs (and everything else that will become glucose in our blood) will speed up the healing process. If you must have a warm drink in the morning with milk (i.e. decaf coffee), drink it with non-dairy creamer. Do not forget, though, that caffeine is also bad for candida sufferers, so keeping it to one cup of decaf is best. I can recommend a few books that have been very useful to me in the search for info about this most damaging condition. I promise, that after a while, it will become easier to be creative with the foods you eat. You actually will be able to create pretty attractive dishes. I hope this info was helpful - RE: soy milk Please inform me further re: connection between soy milk and candidiasis. I have just recently started avoiding soy milk and I feel better. Guest guest
I found this cookbook at the local library: " The Candida Control Cookbook " , by Gail Burton. It is pretty good! It does have some recipes with wheat, but those can be avoided. Hope you can find it. - Re: soy milk what recipies? Guest guest
Actually not all soy milk is very high in Carbs. I drink soy milk all the time and use Westsoy 100% Organic soy milk. It's unsweetened, has 5 grams of carbs per serving and 9 grams of protein.

Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I just joined this list yesterday! So hello to you all, I look forward to being here. Here's a bit about myself: I am 24 and just had a baby in December (our first.) I had pains under my ribs for many months during pregnancy, and they didn't go away after giving birth, so we went to the doctor. Wonder of wonders, I found out that I have a candida problem! I surprised so surprised! I thought my diet was EXTREMELY healthy to begin with! But, I do have a tendency to eat way too much fruit, and pregnancy puts an extra strain on the body, and so forth. I'm writing now to tell you a few things, and ask a question or two. First, I see we're talking about soy milk. We own a soymilk machine; it cost us $160 total to have the machine and 20 pounds of soybeans shipped to us. We got this through the website www.fairviewfarms.com How wonderful it is to have fresh, warm soymilk! And it's very cheap, after the initial investment...less than $.20 a quart. We got the " " beans which are not too beany tasting. Also, I'm wondering about a possible connection between drinking enough water, and candida. I'm almost finished reading The Yeast Connection, from which I've learned a tremendous amount. What interests me is the overlap of conditions that are caused by chronic dehydration and those caused by yeast...for example, chronic fatigue, arthritis, and multiple sclerosis. I learned this through the website for the book, Your Body's Many Cries for Water: www.watercure2.com Has anyone else heard of such a connection? Could it possibly be a real connection??? Last, I'm finding it impossible to lower my intake of carbohydrates. I'm nursing, and I become ravenous very quickly sometimes, especially if my previous meal did not include any carbohydrates combined with proteins. I find myself grabbing for nuts and bananas...not the best choices! Does anyone have a suggestion for a satisfying, quick candida-diet snack? Guest guest
HI Marabel! Welcome. It is great to have a forum of this type to voice our questions and also what we have learned. Sometimes I do feel I am the only one with this problem! It is great that you have they soymilk machine, I'll have to check that website. You are very well informed, which is going to work wonders for you. Other books that I found helpful are: The Yeast Syndrome, by Trowbridge, and Candida Related Complex byk Winderlin. These two book will actually go into much more detail than the Yeast Connection does, and does provide with alternatives to prescription medications. It does talk about pregnancy, and how the hormone increase encourages the growth of yeast. It also talks about water, how we need to flush our system, and clean it, and what better than water. For snacks, if you are not allergic to eggs, having hardboiled eggs ready in the frig helps with snacking. I am allergic to them, so I snack on celery, pinenuts and macadamia nuts (highest on fat, lower on carbs), veggie juices (I have a juicer), seltzer water with a slice of lime and a touch of Stevia (safe sweetener). I do my best to not do nutrasweet, but a piece of sugarless gum once in a while does help too!. After a while, you will get used to it and not feel ravenous. That is how I felt the first 6 weeks after being diagnosed. Hope to hear from you soon! Thanks for the info about the websites! - Re: soy milk Hi Everyone, I just joined this list yesterday! Guest guest
Hi Marabel Welcome to the list. I'm kind of new myself.. only joined last week and I'm also 24 and got candida through using steroid and immunosuppresives for chronic health problems. It's hard for me to find a diet that suits me as I can't eat most products due to chronic illness of the intestines.
Guest guest
As far as I know soy milk is ok - its ok with me anyway. It may be that someone was saying that you should put soy milk on a 4day rotation to avoid becoming allergic to it. I haven't done that and I haven't become allergic to it, not yet at least. I'd second that - I had it most days for a while, and made myself horribly allergic to it. Can't tolerate it at all now! Guest guest
The only reason that I can't have soy milk is that sugar is added to it. Maybe that is also the same reason people with candida can't have it. If there was a sugar free brand, I would have no hesitancy to buy it. Guest guest
My post was a reminder to because soy products boosts estrogen in your body. I did know she was having a similar problem. I have to go out of my way to stay away from 3 & 6 omega acids because my estrogen is so high. If this is not an issue for you then by all means, eat! Guest guest
So why bother going to a doctor? If you know what you react badly to, avoid it, it will make your healing that much easier. Keen soy milk oh my god.. I was practically in a coma for the last 2 weeks because I couldn't figure out why I was so extremely tired and not able to do ANYTHING. I knew dairy milk I couldn't drink because of the same exact reaction. But I didn't know Soy Milk could do the same thing. I would sleep for 8 hours straight whenever I'd drink soy milk. It didn't matter what time of the day it was.I was pass out into a coma after drinking it. I had a bowl of cereal with soymilk at 4pm. I just woke up now at midnight. I get the simaler (but not as intense) reaction whenever I eat chicken. Chicken are fed soybean to eat when their alive. So glad I finally figured this crap out. throwing out ALL the soymilk now. Was wondering if anyone else has had this reaction? Sometimes I get the urge to check myself into a Mayo Clinic to find out thoroughly what the heck is going on in my body. Every blood and gastro-intestinal test comes back normal.. except for Candida.. but no doctors believe in this crap anymore.. Am I the only one here that is EXTREMELY frustrated with nobody being able to figure out our illness? If I go to my allergist and tell him that eating chicken or soybean related foods puts me into a fatigue so intense like a coma, he'd look at me like im nuts. Guest guest
Newjersy23, STAY AWAY from Drs. They cost money and they will finish you off if your only problem is candida. I went through 50 YEARS of going to Drs. trying to figure out what was wrong and most of them wanted me to go to a psychiatrist. THANK GOD for the internet or I would probably be dead by now. They will tell you straight out they don't beleive in candida as a problem. They only know what they are taught and what they are taught you don't want to know about. Stop frustrating yourself with Drs. ANY allergy to any kind of food can make you sleep all the time. Does not have to be Soy or milk. This is especially true if you are not digesting properly or digesting slowely. Bowel cleanses are in order. Steph

Guest guest
Re: soy milk. I have MS and follow the Best Bet Diet, which does not allow soy or soy milk. Even if you don't have MS, actually, even if you are healthy, soy is bad for you. There are many, many websites explaining why. I would get off the soy. I use rice milk, or, if you do nuts, almond milk is very good. Dairy is also bad, so I wouldn't use regular milk, either. Good luck, Beverly
