The reason I asked if these were one in the same is that Nikolaus does not " fit neatly " into the category of type 5 according to anything I've read but maybe this is typical as there are so many different types. I read that type 5 has has an onset in the second decade ( Nik was diagnosed at 6) and that it has a slow progression. He has had three rounds of serial casting, tendon release and transfers as well as soft tissue realease to flatten his high arches. His balance if very bad without his AFO's and he has motor and sensory loss in both fore-feet. Despite all this he keeps up with his buddies no problem-mind over matter I suspect which is a wonderful thing.
