I can't understand what is taking them so long. The Peg has long been approved, and they have since approved Peg bundled with ribavarin, but the ribavarin is not yet available unbundled. Why? I can't for the life of me understand what the problem is. -dz-

I'm sure that's the way they plan to escape it. My brother in law is a Japanese American. His father was put into the camps during WWII, just because he was Japanese. I noticed that the government had ordered some payment for the injustice these people sufferred. My brother-in-laws father as well as the majority of the people in those camps had already passed on, conveniently saving quite a little sum of money for our government. -dz-

to share. wow!!!!Is all I can say!!! Yes the revision surgery is huge and

yours is more than any as your si jonts are in need of repair as well. That

is probably a seperate surgery and that is a 3 months on your back in bed

ordeal for si joint fusion. There is a Lamont in NYC that does SI

Joints and others. Dr. Errico in NYC is fantastic and I think highly

of him for revision.

Annie: Of course you'd lose weight on any diet even if you weren't banded.

You've done that before. The problem is you can't stick to a diet. Very

few people really can for long. You can't permanently keep weight off with

a diet. Once you go off the diet you always gain it back.

Once you get a band you don't have much choice. You have to eat less.

(After 2 or 3 fills). Otherwise you throw up. Which is no fun. And you

really want to eat less because you are full and satisfied with smaller

amounts of food. The food stretches your tiny stomach and a signal goes to

your brain that turns off your appetite. That doesn't happen without a

band. And that's what makes it work.

Being full is like eating thanksgiving dinner use to feel. Except it's only

a half a cup of food. About 1200-1600 calories a day.

Of course if you are really determined you can sabotage your band. You can

find ways to eat around the band. You can skip getting properly filled.

You can eat high calorie junk and high fat foods and consume a stick of

butter every day. You can eat constantly all day long and wash food down

with fluids.

Or you can use getting WLS as a real commitment to being a thinner and

healthier person. You can really try to do the best you can at getting

properly filled, exercising and eating less.

It's your choice. An unlike a diet it's not about making a choice at every

single eating opportunity. It's about making a choice once and for all

about what kind of life you want to have and then sticking with the

decision. About using the band to help you make the choices you really want

for yourself.

The band is not a guarantee. It's a tool. And using the guidelines are

just for beginners. I really eat anything and everything that I want. I

don't follow any rules. If I want a milkshake I have one. But just one and

probably not even once a month. Because I know if I get in the habit of

doing that every day I will ruin my health and my body and I know I don't

want that.

Yes, sometimes I over eat. Sometimes I have to throw up. Sometimes I test

the band. And I pay the price for doing that. And I learn. And I make

better choices so I don't hurt myself. So I support myself in being happy,

healthy and wise. Because really, it's a better way to live. Because I

have more respect for myself and my life than I use to. Because I am filled

with hope.
